scottwb2010 Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Hmm I conclude in fact you are right. That seems to be the only occasion of a tanker truck with a station. My memory has fooled me greatly. However this current station seems a bit small to just be released as itself and a car. It definitely seems incomplete as it is. Maybe a wrecker will be included, which in that case may conflict with the current tow truck out right now. Or not since it is a rather massive one. Maybe one day TLG will release a new city service station but I guess there research tells them now is not the time but 7 years is a long time since the last one. Quote

I checked Bricklink and it was not mentioned in Light Grey, seems the inventory is not yet updated hence my post, never mind Edited February 15, 2014 by paul_delahaye Quote
just2good Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 (edited) From the official NYTF press release... With LEGO CITY, younger builders create and role play as the everyday downtown heroes they know and love. Nine new sets in the Transportation theme ($9.99-$29.99) are joined by three Trains kits-Train Station ($64.99), High-Speed Passenger Train ($149.99) and Cargo Train($199.99). The evergreen Police theme returns with new models ($6.99-$99.99) and builders create and explore adventure with sets from the Arctic ($6.99-$89.99). So, unless there's a huge Arctic set that we didn't here about, the Arctic HQ will be $90. Eh, I was hoping it would be $70. Edited February 16, 2014 by just2good Quote

Unless the Icebreaker is that $90 set, considering it appears to come with a fair few other pieces besides the boat itself. Quote
Wodanis Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 It is possible since historically Lego gas station sets tend to come with a fuel tanker, they may not be releasing this one so they don't cut into the sales of set 60016. I get the idea that if consumers see two sets one with only a fuel truck and the other includes a entire station, they will tend to opt for the station despite a higher price package. They may be holding off on news of that possible set until 60016 is retired. Which seems to be very soon according to Lego shop at home. I absolutely love your modular gas station, Do you have any pics that show if it works well with the other existing modulars? Thank you Moebius118! I will take a few photos. I'll post them tomorrow. Shame that the gas truck is now retired too. I wonder why so soon? Maybe I should have bought another one... It's quite possible that the octan station at lego world is an actual creation/set and they just never released it for whatever reason. Quote
scottwb2010 Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Brickset has listed the price for 60036 Artic Base Camp at $89.99 (making it £53.74 on convertion) so I wonder what price 60062 Artic Ice Breaker will be? Quote

That's unfortunate, then. I may not be picking up this whole line after all- I wish the atrocious pricing in City sets would get more in line with Superheroes and such, which tends to stay way closer to 10c/pc. Quote
HomerJSimpson Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 $65 for 423 pieces? That is highway robbery! Quote
Hrafnblod Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 $65 for 423 pieces? That is highway robbery! Welcome to Lego City, where every set except maybe some Great Vehicles are priced terribly! Quote
HomerJSimpson Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Welcome to Lego City, where every set except maybe some Great Vehicles are priced terribly! I've been having city sets for 7 years now, and I can't believe how much prices are going up every year. In 2011, the train station would have been $50. In 2012, it would have been $60. But $65? It's crazy! I may have to buy it because I don't have a station for my train yet, but I'll wait for it to be on sale. I hope the icebreaker is $90, and the arctic plane $45, because I'll go bankrupt if they aren't... Quote

I fully realize that the 10 cents/pc "magic ratio" isn't a real thing but it's still really disheartening to see such a basic line as city go off the rails on pricing, compared to licensed themes and the like. I may be the only one here who's really, really excited about the arctic sets (since I don't have an actual town layout they'd be incongruent with) but the price I've seen listed are a huge downer, so much that I've gone from "definitely picking up the whole line" to "might grab a few, but only after everything else I want this year." Me too! Everybody's complaining how it doesn't go with city but do KIDS really have a whole town? That's who the sets are aimed for! I may get the base camp,as it's only $90, and I'm DEFINITELY getting the icebreaker and arctic plane, maybe the outpost if toysrus has another one of those "spend $50, get $15 off". Yesterday I got the sunset speeder for $3 because I spent $50 Quote

I would say the ice breaker and ski plane are store exclusives.......great the big replacement for 2012 garage and 2013 town square.....an ice breaker and isn't even in a city but stuck in an ice flow ! scottwb2010 Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Well I am another fan of the Artic theme and whether it fits in to "City" or not is up to each person opinion. I think its a great stand alone play theme, which kids would enjoy (as it is aimed at kids after all). Yes may be getting every set of it, may work out expensive, but the prices of Lego as creeped up recently, especially minifgures so if you take that the base camp has 8 of them the price will look high. So will have to Mod the base camp a bit to accommodate/sleep all these figure. In total, over all 8 Artic sets, I've worked out there will be 27 minifigs. Quote
malleable Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Has anyone mentioned the Cargo truck at the very bottom of this picture? http://www.flickr.com/photos/eiker86/12498836173/ It looks like 60017, but the front piece is in green, which doesn't exist yet, according to BrickLink. Quote

You actually don't have to mod it that much, in the back of the garage is a table and chairs! But no beds though.. :/ Quote

Yeh i noticed that on The Brick Show's video of the Base Camp. Could just convert the garage into a bunk house. Neat tv beside the seats tho! Quote
