HomerJSimpson Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 (edited) Could you post a picture of the page please? I haven't gotten one yet. Edited April 27, 2014 by HomerJSimpson Quote
Rick Posted April 27, 2014 Author Posted April 27, 2014 I just received a copy of LEGO Magazine for May-June 2014, and one of the pictures features a new LEGO City subtheme called Arctic (or something like that). I have merged this with the 2014 City discussion thread. Quote
Boettner Builds Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Thanks for those links! I didnt realize that Brickset had the pictures up. I also didn't realize that TWO of the sets came with huskies!!! I am buying this whole theme!!! Quote
just2good Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 I'm getting worried... We usually hear about the big $120ish Toys"R"Us exclusive (in the US) by now. You know... For 2013, we got the Town Square. For 2012, we got the Garage. For 2011, we got the Special Cargo Train. For 2010, we got the Public Transport. But we haven't heard a peep about anything. I'm sure the Arctic Icebreaker is not a TRU exclusive. What gives? Quote
HomerJSimpson Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Hhhmmmm- good point. I haven't thought about that yet. I remember discussing that a while ago. Wish we got an add on to the public transport- that's the only set of the exclusives that I have. If there isn't one this year, at least I could get the town square, although I still want the arctic plane, icebreaker, the fairground mixer, and I may get the exclusive if there is one. Maybe it's so good, that lego is keeping all information about it in a top secret vault underground- and will have the pictures out in a lego club magazine. I'm glad this topic is lively again- it's been too long since a post here. I wonder when we'll see official pictures of 60062 and the arctic plane? (By the way, J2G, did you do a review of 60026 yet? If not, could you do one?) Quote

CityBuilder Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 I'm hoping the exclusive set we usually get each summer follows the pattern of being some sort of city service. I hope it it isn't an arctic set because then we wouldn't have any "normal" sets this year excluding vehicles. Quote

That's not in any sets? Edited April 27, 2014 by HomerJSimpson Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 By the looks of it, new torso's for the cargo station workers.....man, two pluses and one meh, the meh is the rehash of the 2006 high speed train....but I need them for next year's Railshow so I'll be getting them....just don't tell my wife ! lifeinplastic Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Lego needs to take a look back at the Metroliner to see what a decent train set looks like. My favourite set ever. I remember spending hours building it one Christmas. The carriages had variant instructions - there were so many passengers and accessories. Not forgetting the add on Club Car set. This looks like the shortest railway platform in the world and 3 minifigures? Come on Lego, you should be better than this... Quote
Rick Posted April 28, 2014 Author Posted April 28, 2014 I don't mind you talking about the new Train sets here, but we have a whole forum dedicated to Trains and the 2014 sets have a separate discussion thread there. Quote
Darth Punk Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 For fans of the new arctic City sets here is an interesting article. http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-27129690 The worlds largest icebreaker from a city near London, who would have ever guessed? Quote
HomerJSimpson Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 (edited) I can't post a link because the picture at brickset won't work, but go to brickset and look in the "new in the database" section, a picture of the ice breaker is there. EDIT: actually, the site updates section is what it's in. Edited May 4, 2014 by HomerJSimpson Quote

ZO6 Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 I haven't bought too much asides from exclusives for a while, but I'm really temped to pick up this whole Arctic wave when they're released. I'm not sure if it's my love for The Thing (the movie) that's somehow attracting me to these sets or what. TLG seems to be really generous with the huskies and polar bears with this line too which is nice. And I wonder if that little outpost in the Ice-Breaker set can be easily made to attach to the one in the Base Camp? Quote
Zzz Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 The ice breaker looks really nice - but doesn't it miss a crane of some sort to unload the boxes and vehicles? Don't tell me they have to start the heli for that...? Quote

Totally agree, agree about buying them all, im even thinking about making a Thing brickflick. Quote
Echo Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Totally agree, agree about buying them all, im even thinking about making a Thing brickflick. It is just unfortunate that none of the helicopter pilot minifigures are wearing a hat similar to MacReady's. Quote

Don't tell me they have to start the heli for that...? A crane similar to the one on the Coastguard ship 7739 would have been good but then there wouldnt be room for the small helicopter. Guess I'll just have to Mod it. Quote
captainlegocity2 Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Does anyone know what happened to the plane on skis we saw at Lego World this year? (I would hyperlink pictures but they're not working for me but they are in Eiker86's photo stream) Quote

Don't tell me they have to start the heli for that...? Well it's not a landing ship, and we can guess that where it goes probably doesn't have a dock, so chances are the small helicopter and the bigger sky crane heli are how they load and unload from the ship. (I would hyperlink pictures but they're not working for me but they are in Eiker86's photo stream) It's probably 60037, but we just haven't heard anything else about it yet- like last year's 60015 coast guard plane.
