TheLazyChicken Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 That set is amazing! It is a must buy for me! Quote
Bricknblue Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I love the new vine piece, looks very nice. Quote
The_Skirrid Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 (edited) The vine piece was in Duplo first, but niiiiice! Edit: Learn to link Edited February 8, 2014 by The_Skirrid Quote
jonwil Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 It doesn't look like the same vine piece as the Duplo one in that link. Still cant tell what color the medical accessories in the jungle set are, not sure if they are white or if they are light aqua like the last set of medical accessories (white would be much more useful to me...) jimoakley666 Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Cute set, though do pandas live in a jungle like that ? Again, it might appear Lego designers need geography lessons ? Pandas live in Chinese forested woodland that could be considered jungle-like due to the large amounts of jungle foliage such as bamboo, ground ferns and palm species. But in times gone by, panda species ranged, geographically, from China to the warmer, more stereotypically jungle environs of Vietnam. So, it's not completely out, but let's face it, it's a fun toy for kids that will start them off learning about animals by engaging them in a fun way. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 (edited) Thank you very much for the information, the links and the pictures! I'm only interested in one of the summer wave sets, namely the Shopping Center. I would have prefered it to be an indoor mall instead of an outdoor. But well, that's not that bad. Which I really like is that we seem to get shops with decent interior (like in all Friends shops so far), that there's a sports shop (which is since long overdue) and that the mall is two floors big. The only thing I don't like that much is that we're getting a beauty shop. We already had one two years ago (and I even bought it). So a different shop (e. g. a flower shop, a jewelry or a toy shop) would have been much more interesting and fitting. Klaus-Dieter Edited February 9, 2014 by Klaus-Dieter Quote

It just isn't completely enclosed in the set because it's easier to play with that way. Imagine a glass canopy (like an arcade) over the central bits and you'll get the picture. Quote
LukeWarmTea Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Wow, is that the jungle base? It looks awesome! But wait, why is the boat pink? Seriously? I can understand when tiles might be pink, or uniforms and clothes (things that are pink in real life) but an inflatable? What's wrong with that awesome bright orange we often get in Friends, or yellow or red? Bah. Oh well. The beauty shop in the mall is one of the few reasons I'd consider buying it (along with the sports shop) as we missed out on the Butterfly BS. I didn't think it'd interest my daughter, but her gaga reaction over the lipstick in Andrea's Bedroom proved me wrong! Quote
LukeWarmTea Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Also, has anyone else noticed the Technic 'knob' (I bet there's a proper name for it, but knob is a great word) at the top of the tree? What does it do?! Does it make it turn? FUN! I love moving bits, and it's great to see more 'useful' Technic in Friends (rather than just having it to build a fence, for example.) Quote
williejm Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 It's easy enough to justify either the African chimp, the Asian panda or American macaw (parrot) by themselves ... But how have they all ended up in the same jungle? Maybe it's an animal holiday resort! (But yes, they are all fun animals) Quote
Faefrost Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Also, has anyone else noticed the Technic 'knob' (I bet there's a proper name for it, but knob is a great word) at the top of the tree? It probably turns a winch to hoist supplies up. That seems to be pretty standard in most Lego tree houses. The only thing that really detracts from the set for me is that huge pointless pink slide? It just doesn't make any sense? And doesn't seem like a particularly fun play feature? I mean the slide made sense in the pool and boat set. It added to the rube goldberg'ish mine action over in the LR silver mine... But here? "OMG a baby panda has the sniffles! Quick Robinette...to the bat slide..?" It just has the stench of some of the more idiotic "girl focused" play features that Barbie is infamous for. Quote
HandofBobb Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Got to keep in mind with the Mall, that it's organized on that display to have all the shopfronts facing out as it rotates, whereas if you were actually using it as a backdrop you'd probably want the shops facing the center of the mall promenade... Aanchir Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 (edited) Has anyone shared this video from the German Toy Fair yet? Great attention to detail in that little jungle hut. It's sparse on the luxuries of many of the other Friends houses — the beds are just 2x6 cots, rather than the cushy 4x6 plush beds of the Heartlake City houses, and the kitchen area is not divided from the other rooms at all. But it does have one luxury you wouldn't want to be without in the jungle — a ceiling fan! Also a solar panel or solar water heater on the roof! Way to live off the grid! Tiki torches out front (cleverly constructed from ice cream cones and spyglasses), and a small little bathroom with an outdoor shower. Edited February 11, 2014 by Aanchir Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Indeedthat set is very adorable and I can see it will be selling as hot cakes. Quote
LegoMyMamma Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 The Jungle Tree House (41059) is 3-stories with a laboratory; the set shown in that video is the Jungle Rescue Base (41038) as seen in these images last week. The technic hoist and zip-line functions on the rescue base are nice ways to add playability in the new Jungle setting! The mall is open-air, with courtyard. Quote
Sarah Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 ...Okay now I want to see a picture of the Tree House with the laboratory! That sounds intriguing. Quote
Ajax Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 WOW, So many great parts, I will need at least 3 of this set! Quote
just2good Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Jungle Base Rescue is $60 USD, according to the NYTF 2014 press release. Quote
Sisilisko Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I love the djungle sets. And I also love how the sets are modular. That would be something for the City-designers to take after. I think it is somewhat sweet how the gears from the vet-station is reused and how they put such focus to details. Quote
skelliesgang Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I haven't been too impressed by any of summer sets pictured thus far. here's hoping to be wowed by the treehouse... Quote

I think it is somewhat sweet how the gears from the vet-station is reused and how they put such focus to details. Some LEGO City buildings are modular — 7633, 8403, 7641 (and its re-release 60031), and 3661, 4644 are all based on the same modular system. There may be other sets like this I'm not thinking of. But these are smaller than the LEGO Friends "dollhouse" sets. And the LEGO Group actually advertised the interchangeability of the first three. Have any sites posted thorough pics of these sets from the New York Toy Fair? Quote
