Ardelon Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 (edited) Hmm, why all the love for Abe Lincoln? I admire the real-life Lincoln as much as the next guy, but it doesn't seem to be a very useful fig. On another note, I wonder if any fig apart from Emmet will have the plain black eyes without white dots. The 80s spaceguy does, but it's not clear whether he'll be in any set. And Shakespeare's tile apparently says „to build or not to build“. Fitting. I wonder what Abe's will say... Now we have to wait for WhiteFang's review to come out... jimmynick Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 I don't mind this series; I mean, there's nothing special (except perhaps Shakespeare and the barista) but there's nothing terrible, either. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 Dare I say, best series ever. It seems the crowd is pretty split. That just means more for me. I'll have to pick up one set for me and one for my daughter plus some extras of Shakespeare for sure. I was hoping one of the cop robots would be in this. I know they come in a set, but I wanted to amass a small army of them. The western outfits look great! Quote
Dorayaki Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 Since the Series 9 cop caps made it into next years City sets, does anyone think that these construction helmets will quickly make it into the construction sets? I didn't expect Lacy's horseriding helmet would be used in this way. So hope that we'll see more woman in City construction sets. I don't mind this series; I mean, there's nothing special (except perhaps Shakespeare and the barista) but there's nothing terrible, either. I though it's special in many aspects, but could be both a success or failure for reason, not the best or worst. If they could get rid of the main characters (or give them a more different exclusive clothes in CMF), series 12 could be perfect. Quote
crazyjay Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 This series looks fun. I was a little surprised to see some of the Robot like figs included. However I do think they add a lot of variety to the mix. I am also fairly certain that little boys will love the robots. I personally Like both the Wyldstyle,Female construction worker and that really crazy looking Mountain man type robot with the dynamite. Quote
timmyc1983 Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 Oh cool cat :D I want him and I want the coffee guy (mainly for the cup), the octan guy (mainly for the mug) and Panda Suit Guy, that's about it... Probably until I see the movie, then I'll want all of them Quote
GregD Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 In 2 minds whether to get this series - I've been an avid minifig collector with 3 sets of each series so far. But this is a change of theme now... Love the fact there's a Lego Movie coming out, it should be great - and no problem with a minifig series coming it to promote it. Some of the figs really look great. I think on balance my minifig collection will end now, but might get a few of this series. My collection was going to end on series 13 anyway as I have 0% interest in Lego Simpsons. Mini-panda can go in the modular toy shop I'm building... Quote
-GZ- Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 I dare say that I like this new series only because Shakespeare and Lincoln are included, and even under their real names, with portrayl similarity and new outstanding pieces (new beards without moustaches are great, Shakespeare's torso is a bit repetitive, the golden print is nearly the same from S8... But after all there is a very limited number of these noble-looking clothes in LEGO, and the red one will surely be popular, at last I need it for another Russian tsar) The LEGO Movie is the only reason they were released. At first I hoped to keep my CMf shelf clear from licensed characters (still surely no Simpsons), but now I think that Wyldstyle with a new great-looking dress, Emmeth and Lord Business won't spoil my collection. Of course I'll buy them all since we need 16 in every part of the shelf. The Panda Guy and Barista are brilliant usual figs, the Taco Guy is as great as a revamp character could be. As for droids\robots\drones - well, at first I thought they were too licensed, but now... After such a stupid rensition of Lady Robot in S11, this is what I call Robot Ladies, with silver torsos under dresses and with evil faces with lips and eyelashes with red eyes)) Cat owner is the worst thing, Grandma's dark side variation, but this cat in new colour can't be bad... Quote
xray Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 Some nice detail accessories, but this is probably the first one I won't buy as complete set. Nothing of interest for me, no historical warriors, no space theme. And I really don't want any more fishtails. Quote
AndyC Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 Aww, no blue 1980-something Space Guy? :( If he turns up anywhere, I expect it to be in the most expensive set of the Movie line. It's a fig with such obvious AFOL appeal but less so for kids. Quote
greeny Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 Where are the 'new again' minifigures that were promised? I would much rather have Johnny Thunder and a classic Spaceman than No pants Larry or another mermaid / grandma / cop. Hopefully the 'new again' minifigures might be in the sets... Quote
Gabe Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 The hair on 6th one in the back row reminds me of Mrs. Slocum from Are You Being Served?. Steve Yeah i thought that too! A robot Betty Slocum. Get the cat lady and you can make her pussycat as well. I'm pleasantly surprised by this wave... lots of useful peices. Not so great for heads though but whatevs, i'll take it! Quote
SMC Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 (edited) I was hoping one of the cop robots would be in this. I know they come in a set, but I wanted to amass a small army of them. Me too they look great but none of these are really army builders Edited November 2, 2013 by SMC Quote

I'm betting we'll see them in the actual sets. We have two waves of Lego sets based on the movie, so odds are we'll see them somewhere in there. Quote
Mr. Elijah Timms Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 The more I look at them, the more I wonder if the hairpiece on that 'Fusebot' pioneer-looking guy is actually... A COONSKIN CAP? If it's just his hair, why is it the same color as the beard? Quote
Infernum Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 And Shakespeare's tile apparently says „to build or not to build“. Fitting. I wonder what Abe's will say... A house divided... Is better than this! Quote
just2good Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 A house divided... Is better than this! The opinions on this Minifigures series is a house divided. Quote
dyntar Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 ok.. well its not thrilling me. I collect mainly historical figures or parts that look historical. I have no use for any of the parts used on the construction workers, police or the robo beehive woman.. The rest of the figures i'd get just for the faces and a few other bits. Theres no army builders and very little I can use in castle or roman scenes. A couple of the ladies wear great dresses but one of them is spoilt by having a grey skin colour. And going by previous waves the figures I want will be 2 per box lol. i think I'll see the movie first before I buy the figures. Quote

It's a fig with such obvious AFOL appeal but less so for kids. Yeah, having seen the new trailer now, I'm thinking the same thing. If we get some kind of new (or even reissued) Classic Space set through this line I'm going to cry a little. For joy. :) As for this series... We'll see. I really only tend to get the warriors and sci-fi figures. But if I end up loving this movie (and I suspect I might!), who knows? A lot of people seem to be hating on the drones/zombie/robots, but if these are the army-builders of the film (perhaps requiring some mods in terms of clothing, hair, etc.) I could see the haters changing their tune... Vasko Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 I personally like Shakespeare and Lincoln the most. Quote
Yooha Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 OhMyGodOhMyGodOhMyGod! I've been offlinie for [counting] 34 hours, and this happens! Although this is about the movie, I like it so much! 6 females! The robots, panda suit guy, Abe, Shakespeare, all wonderful! It's a pity there is no Michelangelo though. Okay, they are all fantastic. Except Emmett...why is the protagonist the lamest here? Quote
SMC Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 I dont know why we get emmit at all, a different version of him is good but he will be in most if not all the sets so they should put the different versions of home in the set Quote

He has no new parts or special printing, so he wasn't made a CMF. His concept was cool, though. Quote
