Do people think these figs will have back printing? For the most part, previous CMF series figs don't get back printing, but since these figs tie in with the film and other sets, do you think they'll get special treatment?

I am curious about Green Lantern, the Red luchador and Classic Space guy, will they be in the regular sets?

Oh my god, please please give me a classic Space set!

Also does anyone know if any Fabuland or Technic figures make a cameo in the movie?

This is the only series where I want to get all of them- I'm not really sure why but they're so bizarre I like them!!

Totally agree. Some of these figs are great! My favourites are the Abraham Lincoln, William Shakespeare, and the taco guy. Extra printing galore, as it appears we have leg printing on everyone on the back row.

The more I look at them, the more I wonder if the hairpiece on that 'Fusebot' pioneer-looking guy is actually... A COONSKIN CAP? If it's just his hair, why is it the same color as the beard?

I am pretty sure this is the case.

I thought that immediately when I saw the pic.

But I have to agree with what a lot of people are saying, that this is the worst series so far. Of course, that will only be until Series 13/Simpsons comes out.

Partly it’s because I am a fan of castle/fantasy, horror, and mythology, and there are zero of those figures in this series (except for the mermaid I guess). But mostly it’s because of the lack of variety and the poor choices of which figures to put in the series. I mean, why would you put the main character, who is going to be in every set, in the series? And three robot people that have little use as Sci Fi figures (or really anything other than their roles in the movies)? Just looking at the pictures of the sets we’ve seen so far, the new Super Wrestler and Wizard figures would have been much better to put in this series than some of the ones they did. To the people saying that they could see all of these figures in a normal series, personally I could only see about half of them in a normal series (aside from the three or four that we’ve already seen in previous series).

Anyway, here’s my take on each of the individual figures. I had to read through some posts to figure out which names went with which figures, but I think I’ve got it now.

Calamity Drone – At first, upon seeing the robot figures, I thought they were zombies and got excited. That excitement quickly disappeared when I realized they were robots, and robots that can’t even fit in a sci-fi theme. The dress could be useful if there wasn’t silver on the neck… Disappointing figure overall.

Gail the Construction Worker – Not bad. A little plain, but it is a figure that we could have seen in a normal series.

Abraham Lincoln – One of the few really good figures in the series. I love the hat/beard combo piece, and the overall figure looks great. Another one we could have seen in a normal series.

Larry the Barista – Another good figure, a unique City character that could have shown up in a normal series.

Panda Guy – Another really good figure, fitting in with the animal suit subtheme. Also useful as Sexual Harrasment Panda/Don’t Sue People Panda.

Velma Staplebot – The hair is kind of cool, but overall a disappointing figure, mostly due to the fact she’s a robot.

William Shakespeare – A good figure overall, I like the hair piece in particular. To me it looks like the torso is very similar to the series 8 Actor, which is a little disappointing. Could have seen him in a normal series.

Taco Tuesday Guy – Not bad. Looks a little similar to the series 2 Mariachi Guy, but this one looks like he has leg printing, which is pretty cool. And the design on the plate is also nice. Could have seen him in a normal series.

So most of the figures in the back row of the picture are pretty good, and most of them could have been in a normal series. Now for the atrocious figures in the front row…

“Where are my Pants?” Guy – Seriously? A figure whose only feature is that he isn’t wearing pants. I get that he’s a character in the movie, but what’s the point of including that character in this series? The only interesting part is the shirt, and that doesn’t redeem the figure.

Wiley Fusebot – Would be a pretty cool figure if he wasn’t a robot. I guess you could change the face to fix that. The torso and leg printing are pretty cool and might have other uses.

President Business – Weird hair and face, plain suit, the only decent thing is the Octan mug. From what I gather he’s the main villain in the movie. Doesn’t make sense to put him in this series.

Western Wyldstyle – The hair and the face ruin the overall look for the figure. The dress and torso are pretty cool though and will be useful for various Castle figures.

Hard Hat Emmet – This one really boggles my mind. This is the main character of the movie, he’ll be in all the sets, and from the ones we’ve seen so far, wearing the same construction worker outfit. The all-black eyes make him look completely out of place in the series. And we already have the female construction worker. I have no idea why they would put him in this series.

Scribbe-Face Bad Cop – Cops are a bit boring. However, the new helmet is cool, and his outfit is different from the previous Collectible Minifig cops. We could have seen a figure like this in a normal series, so I don’t mind him as much.

Mrs. Scratchen-Post – Just what we needed, an even weirder version of the Series 10 Grandma.

Marsha Queen of the Mermaids – Mermaids are all right, but she looks very similar to the Series 9 Mermaid. And the hair color is terrible. She’s at best an okay figure.

Oh well, I guess with this series and Series 13 I’ll save some money. Looking forward to Series 14 and the promise that we’ll see more castle, mythology, space, and pirate figures.

I think this series is fine. It doesnt have A LOT of what I collect (mostly historical stuff), but what it does have is nice. All I really have to say is: don't like it? That's fine; it probably wasn't designed with you in mind.

This series to me looks ok, not as good as series 11.

I think the Robot zombie looking minifigs are cool and the Cop looks like the liquid metal motorcycle cop from Terminator 2

At first I hoped to keep my CMf shelf clear from licensed characters (still surely no Simpsons), but now I think that Wyldstyle with a new great-looking dress, Emmeth and Lord Business won't spoil my collection....

I don't know what you're saying. It's not about coming from a licesed theme or a story, its about the roles that characters play in that stories, which affect their appearances in regular sets.

Directly speaking, the series is a glimpse, preview or "spoiler" of the movie. Perhaps most of the minifigures would just play a background role who are eye-catching but don't affect the general plot (for example, maybe Gail would be described as a coworker with Emmet who just appear in the first thirty seconds of the movie and her story ends). In other words, series 12 minifigures might be actually not "based on" the movie, but TLC just make use of that movie and get some advertising effects to the CMFs. However, it's nothing to do with the "protagonsits" since they are the least valuable ones in this series. The worst situation woud be that some other popular minor characters like Michelangelo or Johnny Thunder would not be in any future CMFs or regular sets, and we know who are going to be the target of public criticism.

So in your way of speaking, I'd say that Emmet and Wyldstyle should spoil your collection while others don't.

Ironic that after this sentence, you begin to list all the various ways the parts on the figs can be used in castle/fantasy setting.

Like I said, the series has a plethora of useful new parts. That's all any MOCer should care about, since the minifigs aren't glued together and there's no need to use them whole.

I guess I missed something, because I've spent the past 5 pages trying to figure out why everyone keeps talking about Johnny Thunder.

Though he's not in Series 12, a lot of us wanted him to be in it. That's why.

A mariachi? We already had one.

A mermaid We already had one.

A cop? We already had one.

TWO construction workers?

:(

Really disappointed.

agreed.

also 3 robots??? 1 awesome, no problem. 2 uhh?. 3 WTF? another grandma with a cat???

the only reason ill be getting a full set is for completion purposes. and if it wasn't for this series being tied in with the movie(looks amazing by the way) i don't think it would have much appeal at all, and im talking about kids which is the main target. i showed this series to my 6yo and some other family kids around the same age and they all said they look boring except for the few like the panda and abe or pointed out that i already have figs that look like them.

The characters in Series 12, apart from the 3 integral to the plot, and in variations that probably won't be in the sets, are background/minor characters that LEGO liked enough to make in physical form. To those complaining about lack of the characters you wanted or unoriginality, to each their own. I like fantasy/sci-fi/mythological characters, too, but S12 has some interesting characters and creative new parts, and some better redos of old characters.. Series 10 was the dud series for me because the parts weren't that great and only one fantastical character in it, but this one offers lots of new parts and characters that won't appear elsewhere. But I'm sure we'll all complain about (appropriately numbered) Series 13...
