AmperZand Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 They're finally available from WHSmith for £2.49 each. The WHS in Kingston has 4 boxes. Turns out one of the cashiers is an AFOL and a couple of the managers wanted specific minifigs for their KFOLs. In return for finding the minifigs they were after, they gave me one free. How cool is that? Amps Quote

SandMirror38 Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 I have seven -Emmet -Buisness -Larry -Abe -Taco -panda -wiley And they're all great quality! Except Emmet's skin printing on his torso is so pale its flesh tone :P Sad to hear about everyone else's problems Quote
KringlesBricks Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 I bought 3 with my VIP points the other morning. Got Emmit on the first one I opened! Then got 2 Pandas. Nice picks for being "free"! Quote
Ashnflash Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 Every time I've been trying to go to the LEGO store to get certain figures. I asked the employees both times to feel the bag to see if they can pick out the characters. I remember a fews years back they used to do that but now I think they are told to say "I'm not good at that." Maybe LEGO got angry and have now told their employees to say that now! Quote

I like to do it myself. However the employees here will feel the packages for kids asking them for certain figures. And they do it with a smile. It probably depends on the manager at the store, and how much he emphatises with Lord Business. Seen any hidden Octan logos at your local store ? ;) Quote
Sir Brickalot Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 (edited) I'm still yet to find any. Mind, I haven't been to WHS yet, so I foresee a trip there soon. EDIT: has anyone found any in Tesco stores? Edited January 24, 2014 by Sir Brickalot Quote
Lego Spy Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 I'll be going to the The Lego Movie event at Barnes and Noble tomorrow, and I'll probably be picking up a CMF while I'm there. Quote
KringlesBricks Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 At the Downtown Disney store, a girl employee mentioned if I opened them up in the store and didn't like the ones I got, I can swap it for another at the sales counter... That's new to me... Have you all heard that too? Quote
CM4Sci Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Just buy 16, open them all, and trade for the whole series. >:) -Sci Quote
cocabottle Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 I just bought 4 more today, the box was on the counter so I was able to 'feel' them all. Still need five: Emmet, Shakespeare, the mermaid and two of the 'evil' figs. Quote

This is completely different to my store, infact they asked me what figures I am looking for, I finally got the completed set yesterday after a very helpful staff member felt for the ones I needed Quote
SandMirror38 Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Only 3 more to go for me! -Shakespear, Wildstyle and The Taco Tuesday Robot- Brought $40 worth of minifigs at target - :P - and saved $30 Woo Only 6 were one's I needed 7 were doubles :( Quote
Markypops Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 I'm still yet to find any. Mind, I haven't been to WHS yet, so I foresee a trip there soon. EDIT: has anyone found any in Tesco stores? Tesco were getting a delivery of minifigures into store at the end of last week, the only problem is that they aren't scanning through the tills yet. This may be to stop them going out before Tesco wants them to, as although they are updating the toy plans this week, Movie toy sets are not part of the plan, instead being sent in for a promotional end to be split between toys and books. lemaskdemasque Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 So I was at a department store in Enfield, London today where they had recently stocked the new movie figs. I got any three just making sure i didn't get any doubles, (i'm going to get 'em all anyway) and went to pay up. The guy serving me then asked if I wanted any in particular. He explained that when it's a slow day, some of the staff will feel through the figs and sort them into containers behind the till! I was just wondering if anyone else had seen the same thing?... Its not like they have them behind the desk in Denmark, but a few of the staff here, i know, for the fun of it, they order them into three baskets so when asked for a particular figure they might be able to help quickly. I love the staff in the Copenhagen LEGO store. They are always helpfull to an extend beyond belief. When i go to fill PAB cups, they will also let me know what is not in the store( but in the back ) , in case i would like any of those bricks. Im always having a bliss of an experience going there. They surely love their jobs and they will do whatever it takes to make customers happy. Edited January 26, 2014 by LEGO Family Quote

Not exactly the same thing, but I once called the nearest Lego brand store to me to find out if they had the latest CMF series in stock. They told me that they did and asked me which ones I was after. They then offered to search for the ones I wanted ahead of my arrival and reserve them for me. I didn't take them up on the offer as I wasn't certain I could make it to the store but thought it was very kind of them. Quote
Ashnflash Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 (edited) I think that Virtruvius with eyes should have been a minifigure. steviebwoy Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Well my local WH Smiths in Cheltenham stocks all of the CMFs now, but they've put all the boxes behind the counter and won't let anyone feel the bags. How mean is that? :( Does anyone know if Tesco are stocking them yet? Quote

How mean is that? :( Does anyone know if Tesco are stocking them yet? The reason that WHS puts them behind the counter is that people - mostly kids - steal them. If you're an AFOL, go when they're quiet, ask the manager politely and offer to stand out of people's way, I'd be surprised if they turned down your request. If they do, you can buy a whole bunch, feel them at home and return the ones you don't want. As long as you have the receipt and the returned packets are unopened, WHS will give you a full refund. There is a time limit but it's fairly generous. Depending on how many boxes they have, how long you take and various other considerations, you may not even be denying fellow FOLs the opportunity to get the ones they want by taking loads home. That's a good idea, thanks. Can they refuse a refund though? I don't suppose they can legally, since the packets will be unopened and perfectly resaleable? Edited January 28, 2014 by steviebwoy Quote
