ResIpsaLoquitur Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Man, these have all VANISHED from most stores around me. I do have one Target that still has a load of them, and I've found everybody but Shakespeare at this point. I hate that he's shortpacked. He might have been there, but I ran out of time to check every bag. I have noticed a lot of older waves suddenly reappearing in place of the LMCMFs. Really--series 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 have all shown up again at my Targets. Maybe they're putting them out as a compensation prize--"Gee, these CMFs are really selling--put some more out!" not realizing that since they're not the Movie series, people won't care. Quote
montgocloud Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 (edited) And the bad thing is, according to an employee at my local LEGO Store, they won't be restocked. I went yesterday to complete the series, only to discover that they had been replaced with the LEGO Movie Soundtrack. I asked the employee and he said that they have all been sold and will probably not be restocked. Get ready for some expensive prices on the second-hand market! HawkLord Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Yea, I'm kinda betting these won't get another print run or restock or anything like that. I'm thinking Lego underestimated the success of the Lego movie and probably didn't plan additional runs. Quote
AFOLguy1970 Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 My wife took the boys to Toys R Us to use their allowance money while I was out riding my bike. They got two more packs there. She noticed that several people were there feeling the packs. She tried that herself to avoid getting another President Business, Emmet, Daniel Boone dynamite robot, or Bad Cop since this is all we have so far with multiples of each. When they got home, it turned out to be another President Business and Daniel Boone dynamite robot. With the apparent success of these, it is hard to believe that Lego would not make any more. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 My local LEGO store also said they won't be restocking any, so what they have available up front is all they will get. Makes sense since the next series comes out in May, so you don't want to produce a whole bunch more of this series and then not have any interest in the next one. I don't think they underestimated the success of the LEGO movie considering there were tons of boxes available when they first came out in January (at least here) and now they are slowly getting smaller and smaller. So they just have been a big seller and not all of the figures were as desirable so there are a lot of leftovers. Good thing there weren't any good army builders for me. Quote
Faefrost Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 They almost never go back and redo production runs of small impulse buy things like Polybags, CMFs and Chima Speedorz. By the time a product is on store shelves and they can gauge how it is selling, they already have its next two replacements deep into production. Quote
ShadowWolfHount Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 The Collectable Minifigure are out where I live and I just have to say that... I LOVE THAT PANDA GUY Scribble-Face Bad Cop face look good and I like his phone (going to put it in my Sig-fig room because I have two of him). Hard Hat Emmet is good like that the hard hat have hair and I also like the instructions (love to see that in a MOC some day). Calamity Drone is just creepy but I do like the hate but I wish they have put some more color on it then have it all red and Wild West Wyldstyle is good, I mainly don't like minifigure using those piece for legs but with her and the Calamity Drone they make it good plus I also like that they used the fan again in black. Gail look great and would like if they made the jackhammer blue (just to give it a different color), I also like that they made a Female Construction Worker torso. Taco Tuesday Man don't have anything to say about him but that I like the bowl. Wiley Fusebot I don't know why but there something I hate about it but I love that he have Dynamite (are they ever going to make that in a different color) and I really don't like that Beard. So main right now I have 8 of them and I only have 8 more to go. Quote
gedren_y Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 (edited) I was at my local TRU today. In searching for Wildstyle and Shakespeare I came across: 3 Lord Business, 3 Taco Tuesday, 6 Emit (one I handed to a child that wanted one), 2 Calamity Drone, 2 Velma Staplebot, 2 Gail, 1 Where's My Pants, 2 Abraham Lincoln, and 2 Panda. There were a bunch more, but I found what I wanted. Paid $4 apiece. I hate the TRU mark-up, but the only other store that carries them is on the opposite side of town. TheLegoDr Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 ^I wonder what the TRU Mark up will be for the next two series since they will msrp at $3.99.. Quote
Bricknblue Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 I bought 9 packs weeks ago from Target because I thought I could get them from TRU, then TRU marked them to $4 (which I refuse to buy) and because I thought the movie would fail. I wish I bought a few more because now they are gone and complete series on Amazon is around $90. I felt at least a few extra women, a Lincoln. This is why I'm really growing sick of the increasing amount of limited time things LEGO is doing, mini figures, Friends animals and now Mixels. Quote
Boettner Builds Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 I bought the rest of the box (about 10) at my local Walgreens. I went to TRU, 2 Targets and 3 Wal-Marts. Either no displays or empty boxes I'm missing 4, But I still don't have Larry (Which I REALLY want) Quote
Amset-Rah Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 I finally saw a display at my Walmart, but as per usual, there were only two empty packs that have been scalped. It was like a war zone, but I managed to find a Scribble Face Bad Cop, so I'm happy I at least got one, though I was really hoping for Where are my Pants Guy or Larry the Barista, maybe even President Business. Oh well, maybe they'll get a new shipment, unless this is a one-and-done deal. Quote
Brandon Miller Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 (edited) I did a random experiment yesterday by grabbing 16 minifigure packs without feeling them or even looking at the size of the packet. What I ended up with was quite surprising towards a complete 16 pc set. 1 Abraham Lincoln 1 2 Calamity Drone 0 3 Gail The Construction Worker 0 4 Hard Hat Emmet 1 5 Larry The Barista 2 6 Marsh Queen Of The Mermaids 0 7 Mrs. Scratchen-Post 1 8 Panda Guy 1 9 President Business 1 10 Scribble-Face Bad Cop 1 11 Taco Tuesday Man 4 12 Velma Staplebot 0 13 Where Are My Pants Guy 1 14 Wild West Wildstyle 1 15 Wiley Fusebot 1 16 William Shakespeare 1 Edited March 5, 2014 by Brandon Miller Quote
SweetiePie88 Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Oh well, maybe they'll get a new shipment, unless this is a one-and-done deal. hate to say it but a lot of people seem to be facing stores that only got in one shipment in and that's it. Doesn't make sense since it looks like this year is a 3 wave year so that'd probably mean upwards of another month or 2 b4 the next wave will be here yet stock is wiped out in a lot of areas. Quote
Amset-Rah Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 I mean, it sucks hardcore, but I normally buy my minifigs online anyway, so it's no big loss. Plus I needed a Bad Cop without blowing $35 on his set and yet another Emmet. Quote

I suspect the cause is due to supply issues. TLG has seen tremendous growth over the past few years and the product catalog has likewise grown. The LEGO Movie has also created a lot of demand among non-enthusiasts. TLG probably didn't expect this minifigure series to sell out so quickly. Quote
Amset-Rah Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Oh yeah, that makes sense. I got in a conversation with someone stocking shelves at that same Walmart about this whole thing and she said that the sets have literally flown off the shelves, especially if they have The Lego Movie connection. The only sets that had multiples were the 2-in-1 sets (Flying Flusher, Ice Cream Machine) and all that remained of the minifigs were the lone Scribble Cop I nabbed, and in a way I'm glad I got him. TheLegoDr Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Shop at Home and local LEGO stores are all sold out of this series. I think most places are running out. No one near me has any left, not even TRU and they usually have stockpiles. Also, I thought the scribble face variant was exclusive to the CMF and the good cop/bad cop was in the set? And the next series Simpsons are due out in May I believe. Quote

Only other difference is Bad Cop's facial expression, Good Cop/Scribble Face, and the set Bad Cop has back printing. Sorry for the confusion. But yeah, I looked up Cloud Cuckoo Palace on Shop at Home and it's sold out. It's insane, these sets are a LOT more popular than I anticipated. Quote
Rexworth Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 I went into Target in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They just got some CMF in today. Series 11 was what they put on the selves. They went back a series! Quote

CM4Sci Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 I wish my Target would do that! There is a BUNCH form S11 That I wanted! I went to a store that had Series 9 packets in the S11 box. -Sci Quote

I suspect most of the sets other than the "CMFs" aren't permanently retired just yet - the whole theme is less than two and a half months old, and a top seller across the board. I can't help but think most of it will get additional production runs... with the unfortunate exception of the Minifigures, I imagine. I think so-called "CMFs" are always given limited production slots at the outset. I still need to find several of them! Quote
Amset-Rah Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 True that. I managed to find President Business and Abe Lincoln at that same Walmart, since the person who opened the packets left a lot of unopened packs hidden behind some Mega Bloks CoD sets. There was another Bad Cop, but I didn't want to be greedy so I put the other packets back in the display. But I'm definitely going to look for the other figures. I am dying for Where are my Pants Guy and Larry the Barista. The others I can take or leave, but definitely those two guys above all else. Quote
