legomonk Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 This wave is a huge let down. I will probably only get Shakespeare. He can at least work well with pirates/medieval. I only wish Lego would have just made this one a standalone series. Quote
Lego Otaku Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Anyone thought of a stripper when you saw a guy holding his pants up? I'm sure some adults would be upset if they don't know the real reason this minifig is released. PS: PANDA!!! Quote
Etzel Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 That was the wackiest line-up of minifigs I've ever seen. I want them all! It's not as good as some of the original Collectible Minifig Series of course, and I didn't expect them to be. But I must say that I'm pleased with what I see and some of the new parts look amazing. Darkdragon Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 This is great! I've been needing a bear headgear for a project, now I at least know one is on the way. Quote
danth Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 What? No 80's something space guy? Are you kidding me? Quote
bekindsorewind Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 You're not alone. This is in my bottom three (along with S3 and S10). Looks like I'm the only one thinking this is the WORST series so far. Yup. Series 10 is still worse than this IMO. It's pretty sad that the only thing I like in this series is a hard hat with some hair added to it. Quote
Ardelon Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 * Calamity Drone: Shame about the non-yellow torso, the designers could have saved the fig by making it a cyborg with yellow skin and a Zane-style split face. * Gail the Construction Worker: Nice to get a female blue-collar worker. Here's a woman who doesn't mind getting her face dirty! Special mention goes to the hat+hair combo. * Abraham Lincoln: Hm, unless you're into civil war MOCs or collecting historical personalities, I don't see the appeal fo this fig (apart from the generic suit torso). * Larry the Barista: Useful. Enough said. * Panda Guy: OK, but I'm not into the animal-costume figs. * Velma Staplebot: Useful apart from the face. I wonder what the clipboard says. * William Shakespeare: Great fig, with the hairpiece and the torso (which looks like a recolor of the actor torso, but still useful for making aristocrats). My 2nd favorite. * Taco Tuesday Guy: Great! I was hoping for this fig to appear since I saw it in the trailer. So far my favorite, since the whole fig can be used in a western setting, rather than just bits and pieces. I wonder if the torso will be printed this time – the legs are, at any rate. The plate is cool too. My one little gripe is that I'm still waiting for a plain sombrero... * “Where are my Pants?” Guy: Cool shirt! OK hair, though it could have come in a new color. * Wiley Fusebot: Interesting. I'll need a closer look to see if it's a great fig. Is that a hairpiece or a coonskin cap? * President Business: I guess the suit printing is good, and it's nice to get an Octan mug. * Wild West Wyldstyle: Could be useful for period or horror mocs. * Hard Hat Emmet: Again, nice to have the hat+hair combo. Is that a yellow smart phone? * Scribbe-Face Bad Cop: Great to have a black phone. Otherwise a detailed but uninteresting fig to me. * Mrs. Scratchen-Post: Good to get more hair in gray and a new cat print. * Marsha Queen of the Mermaids: Useful for fantasy settings, though I'm not a fan of that face. All in all, a better series than I expected (though my expectations were pretty low). Shame there are no castle or pirate figs, maybe they'll be in the sets. But, in contrast, there are plenty of wild west figs in the series, could that mean no wild west sets for the theme? Quote
Faefrost Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 What? No 80's something space guy? Are you kidding me? technically the character is "Classic Space Guy with Broken Helmet", which is sorta the problem. I don't think Lego would create a deliberately broken piece. Can you imagine the confusing customer service calls? "No really it's supposed to be that way. No we promise. We modeled it after what always used to happen to the old ones. So ummm, yes. We're pre breaking the classic space helmets now to ummm save time?"... Quote
The Cobra Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 A bit off topic maybe, but where is the previous panda guy from? A quick Google search threw up the one above, and a Fabuland panda, which I'm guessing isn't what you meant. My bad, I was thinking about the Bunny suit guy. I corrected my previous post. Quote
Fives Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Well this wave is amazing. So many new molds and prints from across all sorts of themes (particularly some nice Wild West outfits). I might try to get all of these. Quote
Robianco Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 That suit looks like it could be ideal for an Agent Coulson... although somebody will tell me whether he's ever worn a red tie! Quote
Dorayaki Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 (edited) I personally have polarized views, but generally it isn't as bad as I or many people thought, because there are many interesting elements and usable army builders. The most controversial part is whether this series would include too many main characters (which means they would also be in regular sets), leading to loss in value or incapability of being army builders. The result is that at least four of them are. Wyldstyle is obviously an alternative version, but the guys would very possibly remain the same look in regular sets. To my surprise, Emmet has hair in helmet even though his hair is "short" (like Lacy's horseriding hair used for the female construction worker). For the parts, there are many new parts which proves that TLC really put much more investment than past series. We can also see six female characters in this series, which means the series has most girls so far (but I wonder if there would be another important female hero/rival in the movie). Looks like I'm the only one thinking this is the WORST series so far. I think they're quite "distinctive". Distinctive means not everyone loves them, but it makes them more valuable. The new "Mermaid", "Grandma" or "Mexican" obviously don't share the same personality with their previous counterpart. We've complained that some counterpart identities like "rival" "gender" are just rehashing. However, we get a "crazy" version of the old characters with interesting colors and expressions, which should be a remarkale idea. Edited November 1, 2013 by Dorayaki Quote
AFOLguy1970 Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 William Shakespeare---nice Gail the Construction Worker-meh Panda Guy--could be interesting Abraham Lincoln---great! Taco Tuesday Guy---I kind of like him Larry the Barista---not too bad President Business---OK Calamity Drone----uggh Marsha Queen of the Mermaids----Ok, I guess Wild West Wyldstyle---if she's the one with the fan, then good Scribbe-Face Bad Cop---dont we have lots of these? Velma Staplebot---eewww Hard Hat Emmet---I guess he was necessary “Where are my Pants?” Guy---meh Mrs. Scratchen-Post-------not feeling it Wiley Fusebot.--slightly interesting It is kind of a mix, and this is why I hate the fact they are random. With my luck, instead of getting Abe, Will, Wildwest, Taco, and Panda, I am going to end up with robots and some guy that does not wear pants. Not assuming to be the first to ask, because I did not read the whole thread, but what about blue classic space guy? Quote

Plus I think his logo is rubbed a bit. I guess that would be a kind of crappy figure. Hell, even brand new it'd be super boring compared to the others. I guess I just really miss that guy. :( Quote
Super Goblin Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 I just don't get the complaints with this series. There are at least 11 new parts, that makes it one of the best series so far in my book. And there are robots, robots people, come on. Quote
Wodanis Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 I'm not bothered by the complaints. I love this series. We heard that this series would likely be based on the movie and I am not disappointed. Can't wait to get them all. You can always use Emmet's body and legs for other figures. Quote
Mutant Orc Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 This is the only series where I want to get all of them- I'm not really sure why but they're so bizarre I like them!! Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 I really do love this series. I've been able to match up some of the names with the figures, but I still haven't been able to figure out some of them. Can someone please tell me who is who? I of course got to know Emmet, Gail, Wildstyle, Panda suit and all the others. But the robots are confusing me... Oh! And do we have 6 females this series? I'm very sure 2 of the 3 robots are female. So excited, the cop is the only one I might not get, and that is of course, because he is too generic for a CMF series, split personalities isn't enough for $3 right? We'll see. Quote
CM4Sci Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 BEST MINIFIGURE SERIES. PERIOD. :wub_drool: 2014 is going down as the best year for LEGO! -Sci Quote
Bricknblue Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 I love the series, the robots look like zombies. Panda panda is neat. Lincoln is amazing. The hair pieces are crazy. Just wish we had more neat pieces in it. Coffee shop worker is a win. Quote
vexorian Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 I will only get Lincoln, Panda, girl with black dress , Shakespeare and the Mexican restaurant worker (mostly because I couldn's get any of series 3). The rest are not great ideas. Specially the robots, they aren't great as robots or as the characters the robots are portraying, too movie-specific I'll pass. Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Now the thing to consider about Gail The Construction Worker is it appears it's a female torso, not the usual construction torso and as it's already pointed out hat/hair combo......real life at last with attacking bot's......it happens ! Quote
jluck Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Yes yes yes! They look awesome! I'm so glad we didn't have to wait for the images, the Lincoln and the Shakespeare are amazing! Quote
