Faefrost Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 I must be weird. I kind of like most of these. William Shakespeare - great looking minifig. A nice compliment to the actor. Probably don't need a lot. But the torso will be great for some Castle and period stuff Gail the Construction Worker - a decent enough city type fig with some emotion and personality. Female city worker torso has some uses. Probably fairly useful to part out overall. Panda Guy - too cool. Don't need a lot of them. But must have one. Abraham Lincoln - great fig. Key question will be if the beard and hat are separate. If so fantastic parts. If not then really one is enough. Taco Tuesday Guy - kinda neat. And he makes me think of a great little MOC for my city street. Yet somehow feels wrong. Larry the Barista - the face and the coffee cup sell him. A great little fig. President Business - great suit, great mug. Face and hair will be weird to reuse. Calamity Drone - possibly the low point of the series. But honestly not that bad. A neat little fig. Just not a ton of flexibility unless you are building an army of robotic hookers in your city or Star Wars Cantina... Hmmm now that I write it, maybe it has a few more uses than I thought. Evil uses mind you... Marsha Queen of the Mermaids - the hair is interesting. But unless you are looking to MOC Katy Perry ummm? I want one. Just don't see a lot of uses. I mostly used the prior mermaid for hair. This will be the same. Wild West Wyldstyle - I love this fig. A great character in a kind of goth dress. Not a lot of widespread uses, but still neat. Scribbe-Face Bad Cop - really need to see more on him. I love the helmet (have we had a real motorcycle cop type helmet before?) at least he is useful in city as a cop. Velma Staplebot - the hair and body are real useful. The head and hands less so. Hard Hat Emmet - we gotta get a main character variant. He seems generically useful enough as such. Love the hat with hair. Swap a few heads around and you have a great construction crew. “Where are my Pants?” Guy - the head and hair make him a passable stand in for Dareth the Brown Ninja. The torso is fantastic. The overall fig as presented is meh. Mrs. Scratchen-Post - more varied old people are always welcome. Like the hair in grey. Torso is kind of garish. But interestingly so. Wiley Fusebot.- I am not quite sure what to make of this guy. It must however be said that the parts are way better than the whole. New beard. New hat (is that a babushka?) can't see much use for the rest except as a zombie. Overall I really like this series. It has much the same quirkiness of previous series. It has a few good historical figs. A couple of evil robots. Lots of useful city civilian types. No real aliens or monsters this time, although one of the better guy in costume figs. Most of these would have been unchanged without the movie tie in. Quote
Infernum Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 I think most of the figs by themselves are great, and look like a great series. However, I feel an opportunity was missed. No Castle figs, which makes me sad. Well, hopefully we'll see some good medieval figs in series 14. Quote
DPrime Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Aww, no blue 1980-something Space Guy? :( Quote
Taaron Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 technically the character is "Classic Space Guy with Broken Helmet", which is sorta the problem. I don't think Lego would create a deliberately broken piece. Can you imagine the confusing customer service calls? "No really it's supposed to be that way. No we promise. We modeled it after what always used to happen to the old ones. So ummm, yes. We're pre breaking the classic space helmets now to ummm save time?"... Instead of breaking it, they could do a 'printed' crack, maybe? Anyhow, I hope the "Where's my Pants guy" is voiced by Alan Marriott. There's just something about him that makes me think "Dareth" from the Ninjago cartoon. Quote
8BrickMario Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 (edited) Shakespeare, Marsha the Mermaid Queen, President Business, and Abe Lincoln are awesome! I was hoping Marsha would be a physical fig! The robots are weird but the new hair (or balding hair) pieces are great. And you have to love a name like Mrs. Scratchen-Post. Red Harrington's robot sister is pretty bizarre but interesting and the panda guy is pretty cool. The two-faced cop may have potential. Fusebot's design doesn't make much sense, and the "Where are My Pants?' guy is just odd. The Barista should have been named Joe, though, but he's cool as well. This series is growing on me. New pieces (that haven't been seen prominently in the theme/previews previously): Hard Hats w/ Hair 60's beehive Panda Mask Police Helmet Altered Cat? I'm not sure but the back legs look different. Coffee cup! New plate/bowl This is looking good! Edited November 1, 2013 by 8BrickMario Quote
greeny Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 I'm happy because Taco Tuesday guy, Panda suit guy and Abe Lincon will all be the easiest to feel through the packets Emmet is alright because of the hat/hair headpiece. Western Wyldstyle is good but I would have preferred a different minifigure in her place though. No pants guy, the robots and the old lady are defiantly the worst in the series. Oh- and another mermaid Quote
KingPixels Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Robot heads are really useful, right now we only have the Kraang and a couple of others. Unfortunately the stubble on this one pretty much ruins it. Quote
gedren_y Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 I'm not going to bother commenting about anyone else's opinion, because it has become rote that CMF favorability runs the gamut. I can see uses in my various themes for every single one of these. Some are bigger wants than others, but I'll not decry the CMFs since I would likely part out the whole series. Quote
Oky Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 No Green Lantern!? So the rumor that there would be licensed figs in this series was bogus? Perhaps he will be in one of the sets, but I was really hoping he'd be in this series... Anyway, I agree that this series is a bit of a disappointment as a whole. There are too many variations of figs we have already had in previous series, and too many of the same type of fig, namely the Western robots and construction workers. That doesn't mean it's a bad wave, though, since all of these figs at least have some desirable pieces. I don't mind the main characters from the movie either since they seem to be exclusive variations of them and provide a cheap way to get those characters. So while I wish we would have gotten some more less generic characters, I will probably end up buying most of these. Quote
Athos Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 The hair on 6th one in the back row reminds me of Mrs. Slocum from Are You Being Served?. Steve Quote
Piranha Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Not exactly what I was expecting. Like others I had imagined "new again" to mean ones like the Classic Space guy or Johnny Thunder. However there are some good figs I will get like the Coffee guy, Taco Tuesday guy, Shakespeare, Mermaid and Emmet. I am curious about Green Lantern, the Red luchador and Classic Space guy, will they be in the regular sets? Quote
LibraryBoy Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Even if I wasn't interested in the movie I'd want pretty much every figure from this line for the unique parts alone. I might as well just sign my paycheck over to TLG right now and save everyone the time. And an Abe Lincoln to go with George Washington and my custom Theodore Roosevelt? Outstanding. I'm one minifigure shy of my own tiny Mount Rushmore! Quote
8BrickMario Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 And the Shakespeare hair could be used for Benjamin Franklin someday! Quote
Skinny Boy Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Ohhhhhhhhh, they're from the movie. I did not get that. I was wondering why there are 3 civilian robots and 2 construction workers. Some cool pieces indeed. Quote
Dane Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 (edited) I have a bit of mixed feelings about this, because I like the originality of the collection series and don't like this movie tie in, but at the same time I like many of the new figs in this new series where several of them easily could have been part of the "normal" minifig series. I don't understand why people are so disappointed about the lack of the 80's space guy, because looking at this series it is clearly figs or versions of figs that probably not will be found in the around 12 movie sets. Looking at the new movie trailer it looks like the 80's space guy has a role big enough to make him very likely to be found in at least one of the movie sets in my opinion. How LEGO will solve the helmet question/problem is another matter, which only time will tell... Edited November 1, 2013 by Dane Quote
JeagerEX Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 (edited) Why Bad Cop does not have a gun in this series? And the Red Luchador is in the Lord Business's Evil Lair set. Edited November 2, 2013 by JeagerEX Quote
Lego Spy Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 Interesting, I like the robots. (Especially the miner ) But what's up with Wyldestyle? I mean it fits her name, but... Quote

Does this wave excite me like the last series - Hell no! Other than the AbE Lincoln and Panda figs - I just see these as updates of old figs. I do however like a lot of th elements in the figs which means I will probably end up getting them anyways, cool new hair/hat pieces with some nice combo's but did we really need another mermaid, another cop (even with a cool helmet) 2 construction workers on the same series... Not a bad wave just not my favorite, especially after Series 11 which has probably been my fave so far. Quote
JeagerEX Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 (edited) Where My pants guy literally inspired by a Hawaiian Tourist Edited November 2, 2013 by JeagerEX Quote
Blakstone Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 This is about average wave for me... except there is not any minifigures that I want multiples of. That is rare. My must haves are Abraham Lincoln and Bill or Billy (Mac or Buddy) Shakespeare. Also Wild West Wildstyle. Larry the Barista would be nice. The ones I will try to avoid are Marsha Queen of the Mermaids, Panda, and the Robots. I hate Mrs. Scratchen-Post but the hair and the new cat balance that out. Of course I might just take it personally as I have 8 cats myself. Since the Series 9 cop caps made it into next years City sets, does anyone think that these construction helmets will quickly make it into the construction sets? Quote
