OK, I think I'd like to sign up for Historica, and Mitgardia seems to suit my build style (and also the brick colors I have at home, to be honest...), so... do I need to go somewhere specific to "join"? I'm trying to get familiar with things but I'm a little lost, even though the relevant threads are all stickied. I am a complete newbie with this! Thanks in advance for your help :)

Welcome to the best Guild dr. May your feet enjoy some warmth every now and then!

You guys really need to embrace your title of "most bearded ladies in a guild" and stop stealing our Guilds truthful and rightful title of "the Best Guild". Plus you can warm your feet in our lava pits (disclaimer, loss of feet does not mean a refund is given).

Swamp dweller I may be, but I'll wager I'm cleaner than you. How long does it take to get the stench out of your lady beards after you've had too much mead and thrown up your guts? And jealous? Most Nocturnian men wonder how you Mitgardian women grow such fine beards. Is it the snow, or perhaps Yeti magic?

I have Walls Phase 2 nearly finished, I unfortunately ran out of bley 1x2 and 1x1 tiles :hmpf_bad:

That sucks... I wish we had Lego super markets so we can buy anything we want when we want it..

You just need to make your sig-fig, photograph him, and post him (with a name and a bit of background) in this thread to join the frozen northern Guild of Mitgardia!

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm reading up on this a bit myself, but perhaps to save time: Are sig-figs "characters" in the Historica world? And if so, I guess there's some guide on naming and/or appropriate backgrounds? Thanks for your help!

Yep sig-figs are characters in Hictorica world. Its you in Hictorica. I dont think there are "hard" rules (sorry for my english), go creative mode and imagine you are a barbarian guy xd..

Welcome to Mitgardia, DrColossus

Yes, your sigfig is your main character in the world of Historica, though you can have other side characters. About a guide to naming you sigfig, I don't really think there is any, just make something up

Edit: I see Gunman just beat me to it

In preparation for the 5th I have a question about maps and locations. If I want to add a city or location to the map in Mitgardia should I just explain where it is in location to other places already on the map, or is there a more specific way I should go about doing that?

@DrColossus, adding the guild colours, green and yellow, (a standard would suffice) is usually recommended.

@MKJoshA I could be wrong but you could always copy/screenshot/etc the map, out a dot on in MS paint or a similar program, and then post it as an image in this thread.

Okay, I'll work on that.

Thanks for your help, all! Let me introduce you to Olin the Smith, journeyman armorer! Born to a well-respected merchant near the Bay of Storms, Olin has always enjoyed the gleam of metal, and seeks to become an armorer to Mitgardia's soldiers. He's completed his apprenticeship, and has struck out now to establish his own shop. He's got a forge and some basic things going, but it's all outdoors right now, which won't be much help the next time it snows... My photo skills are pretty poor, but I can edit in GIMP OK, so I've managed to cut out the worst of it.)

I have to add a Mitgardian banner to his shop, and really it needs considerable work, but this is what it looks like so far. I'm mostly proud of the forge itself, and the quenching bucket which you can see at the edge on the right. As you can see, I've got lots to learn from you all!

Great start though! You being able to use GIMP will greatly improve your pictures, regardless of photo quality. But you'll get lots of tips on how to improve your pictures while your here so that will improve along with your building skills. You're in the best guild for contructive feedback!

I think my siggy is a few pages back in here, with the part list and background, feel free to nab it

Thanks, but it would be better if you could just PM me with the info and pic (so that it is easier to keep track of everybody) :classic:

Nice minifig, DrColossus, hope to see more from you soon

BTW, I am collecting all the Mitgardian sigfigs, so if you can just PM me the pic and backstory

I built my first AoM MOC today, I'll probably post it this afternoon or tomorrow :classic:

Edit:

Here it is:

Thanks! Would love to PM, but as of right now I'm apparently not allowed to PM things. Maybe not enough posts yet? Got to fix that...

And thank you, SoccerKid!

Oh, I had forgotten about that, but you only need 10 posts to be a full member

That's an easy one! You just comment on all of our mocs and tell us how great we are. And voila, you'll be able to send and recieve pms.

OK, I did a little work to fix up Olin's Outdoor Blacksmith Emporeum. Tonight, if I can, I'll put together something nice for the AoM Stables. Here's a revised photo of the shop. I'm trying to work with different lighting, rather than using the horrible flash on the camera phone.

Is there a place to put Mitgardian builds that don't fit particularly into any category? (Like, this doesn't really qualify for any of the AoM sections). Thanks!

Olin enjoys working in the morning, when the heat from the forge melts the new-fallen snow. He still doesn't know why his shop is outdoors - how hard can it be to put up a roof? He flies the banner of Mitgardia to show his pride and loyalty, and also (he hopes) to attract some similarly loyal customers.
