Hello fellow Dutchmen, but you know, this site is English only. I am sure the Moderators and Regulators won't mind 1 time, but if I were you I won't type Dutch here....

it's not only an English only site, it's also an adult oriented site. So in case you (as a TFOL) don't follow the rules you are out quicker that you think!

Ok, Sorry...

it's not only an English only site, it's also an adult oriented site. So in case you (as a TFOL) don't follow the rules you are out quicker that you think!

I don't know what you are talking about?

if you're not 18 you are on probation here, until you're 18!

Where did you get that from?

And also, Why should a site for Lego Fans would specificly be a site for Adults!

Cause to be honest? where can i go then?

I'm being bullied everyday at school! This is the only thing i have!

Are you really going to take this away from me? also you never know when your life ends

my mother always says, you need to enjoy everyday! and i do that with going to this site every day

The only thing in my life i have is Lego... maybe i don't even reach the age of 18? and what then? then i could have never enjoyed MOCing and joining guilds!

Because the guidelines say so. We're pretty tolerate but it's a thin line, don't cross it! So last thing said about your age and personal matters or else this will go south as it did in the Lotr topic.

Dang... I just went through the unread posts from the beginning of December... You all talk too much. I have some belated things to say.

Yeah, before we were the best, just everyone was in denial. Now's there's evidence!

Numbers of people joining is not proof. Everyone wants to defend the wall because they watched GoT or they bought the Hobbit / LOTR sets that look perfect in Mitgardia -- its kind of strange that bley has now become so Mitgardian instead of Avalonian. The point is, the current sets reflect stereotypical Mitgardia, and Nocty to a lesser extent, much better than stereotypical Avalonia or Kaliphlin.

Well I am glad I never put in that BL order for those helmets, as I was going to use them for elves too... Wouldn't want the elves of the Wither woods looking like snow elves... But on a positive note, these may be the most badass elves I have ever seen.

Actually, I think the current sets would also provide a good base for mocing out Avalonia. In the end I think it's the AoM that gets people attracted to this guild. After all it's kind of addictive.

I actually have a serious question for you guys (I know, I'm deigning to ask the Guild of Bearded Ladies a serious question!). All jesting aside, as part of my sig fig's overarching Book II story, he's travelling to Mitgardia, tracking a person(s), and this will lead him to Avalonia, thereby setting up my challenge entries. At least, that's the plan. He's going to what I imagine as a walled garrison town, population ~300, with about a third of that being the military garrison itself. It's preferably towards the mid-west of your lands, and definitely has snow (not blanketed, but fairly consistent.). I was wondering if this fits any of the established towns (and if it would be ok to use said town), or if I should make up a new one? If a new town, I'm open to naming suggestions- I'm drawing a blank at the moment! Cheers!

...it's also an adult oriented site...

"adult oriented"? I must have missed the forum for all those adult-oriented MOCs  . Can't believe I'm messing around with castle MOCs instead...

(Although I do actually remember one really good adult-oriented MOC someone made about two years ago… It was sort of a what-is-he-thinking, what-is-she-thinking type of cartoon build)

Well, as is happens, not having lived in an English speaking environment for the last 13 years has taken it's toll on my eloquence in the (more or less) forgeign language. At least when I'm tired, that is.

@Vald: You could of course always refer to my town of Stoneroda (or the ruins of it) or even Thorshaven, although the later is located more on the Western coast and thus influenced by the warm currents that flow along that particular coast, taking for granted that our fantasy planet turns the same way mother earth does.

That's what I thought. But I'm not nice enough to pass up an opportunity to crack a joke

Ok, so I signed up a while ago and had terrible pictures, so I'm (re)presenting you with the higher quality Thorrak Seaborne.

thorrak.jpg

Thorrak is a proud champion of Mitgardia, seeking to make a name for himself and will fight tenaciously to defend the lands he loves.

Through his travels he has mastered several forms of melee combat, including a brand of unarmed combat that he developed himself. He is also fortunate enough to have trained in the basic magical arts, though he is far from a master.

He finds himself now residing in the Easternmost Isle of the Isles of Solitude, enjoying the riches and quality of life that his adventures have brought for him.

I would be most grateful if anybody could point me towards any tips for taking clearer pictures, I have multiple MoC's waiting in the wings but it took me long enough to get a clear picture of my sigfig, so capturing the details is going to be a tough task.

And I guess I'm gonna take the time to apologise for taking so long to get the ball rolling, but I'm here now and I'm ready to go!

I'm not too wise when it comes to camera's but I have a 14 Megapixel digital camera, and that shot was indeed taken indoors, though due to weather I'm not sure shooting outdoors is gonna be viable for the near future unfortunately.

Posted

If you shoot indoors you will have to evenly light the MOCs with white light. Because (as you say) you are not familiar with cameras and I guess also with bouncing flash etc etc I think the best for you is to wait a cloudy weather and shoot outdoors. So the light from the sun is diffused from the clouds.

Welcome to Mitgardia (again), Duke Blastus :classic:

That is actually a pretty good quality pic, my suggestion (I see you have plenty about doing it outdoors already) would be to take your pictures on white paper, as it is less distracting than most other backgrounds. Especially when it is something small like a minifig, and you can just use one piece (curved, that way you can avoid the lines that you have when you use two or three)

Ooc, I will do my best to get all the sigfigs up today (I still need to link a whole bunch of pieces to Bricklink) :classic:

That picture is not too bad. A bit out of focus; you might want to try using the Macro feature on your camera. Some white foamcore board, a white sheet, or even a piece of white paper really helps as a background (I've even used paper towels a few times). Outdoors in light shade is the best -- if it's too sunny, you can create some shade. There are lots of threads on Eurobricks about photographing LEGO.
