Gunman Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Yep my mocs are located to random places too :) Not bad either way Quote
de Gothia Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 It's no shame if you want to be like us! I understand!!;) Quote
DrColossus Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 In contrast to Avalonia, we have actually never really claimed full territories and instead build villages and towns of places we imagine our characters to originate from. I kinda liked it that way and wonder if we really have to follow the example of Avalonia. However, I do have a pretty clear idea of where I think Thorshaven is located. That's a good point Kabel. I wasn't really looking to "claim" a spot at all. It's just that I have a village coming together and thought it would make a good dot on the map. I don't need any kind of ownership rights though! :) Quote
kabel Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 I don't need any kind of ownership rights though! :) I'm glad we can agree on that, Mitgardia is actually way more egalitarian than the rest In Avalonia they have dozens of dukes and earls and stuff like that, in Kaliphlin they have slaves and in Nocturnus they have monsters who don't really care about human rights of whatever sort. In the North we may be a little more rough than in the other parts of Historica, but here each citizen (male or female) has its own individual worth! Quote

Kaliphlin has out of sight the best map and we don't claim places! ...in Kaliphlin they have slaves... Who are worth as much (maybe more) than every other individual! (Even good ol' Flagg used to be a slave!) Quote
MKJoshA Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Well, I with Kabel, I don't think we should claim territories. Just build cities and add dots. As for the map, I'm fine if it gets assigned to one person or if it's a team. I'll just leave my name out there as a willing participant. Quote
kabel Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Who are worth as much (maybe more) than every other individual! (Even good ol' Flagg used to be a slave!) Right, that's what the slave masters of the old South used to say too when they sold the children/brothers/sisters/spouses etc. of their slaves "down the river" ... Quote
Rogue Angel Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Remember that this is all based in a medieval fantasy world where things like slavery, pillaging, torture and serfdom are commonplace and do not reflect our views of modern day or historical practices or events in the real world. Quote
kabel Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 True, but that does not mean that there hadn't been people thinking about more freedom. And Thomas Moore's "Utopia" is based on the reflections of the medieval world. At the same time, the old Norse also had Things (assembleys) in which each citizend had a say, which is what I'm trying to refer to. Although I am aware of the fact, that Vikings too had slaves as well as rulers. But hey, this is the romaticised version of the middle ages and our clan land people also wear horned helmets, despite the fact that this too is pure fiction. And what's even more, I am playing a role as a certain political leader here, which is why I've started put what I mean to say as a real person into brackets. Quote

Well, given that, we feel for those Mitgardians who have to spend their time picking whatever crops grow in their chilly climate and cleaning up after themselves instead of enriching their guild! At least we can still wipe our butts ourselves, unlike our Kaliphlin friends who need a butler for even the most basic tasks. Oh well, I've always felt that Kaliphlin stood at the edge of decadence. Now I know! Quote

PenPlays Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 At least we can still wipe our butts ourselves, Ah, but you Mitgardians use the clothes you wear, whereas us Avalonians use a rag, or a clean leaf. Possibly a smooth log, but at least we dispose of our excrement remnants without having our women clean it out without them knowing. Quote

Direlda Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 I can help with maps if need be. Cartography is a hobby of mine and I have plenty large rolls of paper to sketch out on. Here is an example of my work. Rough Fantasy Map by Direlda, on Flickr Quote

Bkrosell Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 I think that we should have a challenge to build up the Mitgardian navy, there is a serious lack of ships in this guild. Quote
