Tomsche Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 I think he is doing it as the old cities are from book 1 (I believe reading back on that story, some where actually destroyed?) and the newer ones from Book 2? Not sure, wasn`t around yet during `the old days` hehe Quote
Etzel Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 It would also be nice with a list of what city/town/area that is associated with what member (e.g. Thorshaven - kabel). I'm a somewhat sporadic builder in GoH and would like to know who's MOCs to look at when planning a build in a specific place to be able to match the landscape and buildings. Quote
MKJoshA Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 A main builder is a good idea. I'll try to add that. As for the new vs old cities, I did that because so many of the old cities were founded by builders who aren't active on GoH anymore or were destroyed in the Revelword wars. Quote
Gunman Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 You can discuss with Ecc/kabel/SK what cities are alive now and just make one list, even if you add the destroyed cities why not put them all in one list? Not that all the old cities are inactive/destroyed they are mixed too. Quote
mrcp6d Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 I'm not sure I'd clutter the map with more text, but a list of each city with it's main POC would be a great addition to the post body. Quote
SkaForHire Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Map by skaforhire2, on Flickr My brother's town from book one, he still has not officially declared for Mitgardia in book two, but he is still active. I think he did one MOC there. We used it to base the Battle of Khordeem too. I like the map, I like the idea of a new and old map, i know that is more work, but that would help with overlapping cities from the two books, and give us a sense of history when we look back at how the maps have changed over time. Then again, like many of us, you probably have a life that keeps you pretty busy, and putting together another map might not be high on your priority list! Still, great job with the update! Quote

Yes, real life keeps me from putting much more work into this. That, and if the Moderators from the SW forum found out I was freelancing over here I could be in trouble, shhhh! (Just kidding!) I'll work on some of the changes this week and try to have an update up by the weekend. Ska, what do you mean new and old map? We already have an "old" map. Quote
kabel Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Hey, you were here first and it's a man's right to have a split personality! Quote
Spader Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Just posted another freebuild.....I think it's my best yet. But tell me what y'all think! Quote
Spader Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 So I have seen the likes of MassEditor, Jorrith, and Lord Vladivus do a perfect set of crossovers, and it got me wondering...... Anyone here interested in a crossover? Quote

I'll work on some of the changes this week and try to have an update up by the weekend. Ska, what do you mean new and old map? We already have an "old" map. I meant because the old map did not include all of the Book one settlements, I thought. Also, I was thinking that you should just take off the deserted / destroyed settlements on the new map, and make the still existing Book 1 and Book 2 cities all the same color / number system. Then just have the old map and the new map posted side by side for comparison on the main page. Just my two cents though. Quote
Mike S Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Another suggestion would be to put all the cities in the same list and put (ruins) beside towns that no longer exist. Quote
Garmadon Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 (edited) I have to agree with MKJ that it's better to have the different numbering, as it the easiest way to differentiate between older and newer cities. I believe that the cities which actively overlap the two books (basically just Valholl, and possibly Omurtag, Teridyan, Stoneroda, and Hedgestorp, though even Valholl isn't particularly active, just mentioned once or twice) are pretty well known, so I can't see much point in going through a lot of work to change anything Edited February 10, 2015 by Garmadon Quote
Gunman Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 I agree with SkaforHire and Masa. No need to have 2 lists. We are on book II now with some active/not destroyed cities. No need to have a bunch of city names which are inactive/destroyed imo. Quote
MKJoshA Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 You all over estimate my gimp skills , but I'll see what I can do! Quote

soccerkid6 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Two new freebuilds: @Andrew Spader: I would have been interested, but my building schedule is super full for a while Quote
Bregir Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 So I have seen the likes of MassEditor, Jorrith, and Lord Vladivus do a perfect set of crossovers, and it got me wondering...... Anyone here interested in a crossover? I think this is a great idea, and hope more collabs will arise over time. I am Avalonian, and a bit short on time, but other than that, I might be interested in something limited. (You could send a PM) You've got a nice storyline going on for yourself too, though! Alternatively, you could contact (PM) one of the people behind the "Frozen beyond" storyline and ask if there is anything you could do or support with. Lastly, you can take a look at how SarahJoy did with her recent build supporting the Vlad, Mortis, Anfauglir line. (There has been many examples in the past, but this is the most recent one.) And then just build something that supports an existing storyline. Two things to keep in mind (that may be obvious): 1) Don't make a narrative that will thwart or affect and ongoing story. Instead, support it or play up to it - it may spark some sort of response! And even if it doesn't, its still great to see it all come together. 2) Ask before you use sig figs, or make anything that could affect someone's story. Well, basically, follow the same rules as for RP. Do not dictate the actions, thoughts or motives of others, but feel free to let your characters do anything within their power. (Without god-modding ) Just my two (maybe ten) cents. Quote

kabel Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Dude, maybe you should start the AoM first in order to become more aquainted with building in Mitgardia and develop you own style, collaboration will come at some point. Quote

A good point. I've already done one AoM build, but I'd like to complete at least one subcategory...... Quote
Infernum Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 (edited) Sorry I haven't been more active here, I've been pretty busy with life and the Tourney on Mocpages. I've been building though! Here's two mocs I built for the Tourney: http://mocpages.com/moc.php/406270 http://mocpages.com/moc.php/405355 Normally I would've posted these over here too, but they were both destroyed before I could get any pics with GoH figs.
