I guess we did say that (I thought we were talking about the out of character council only being older members), although I would still be inclined to put Nightstalker on the council sooner rather than later. Is everyone who participated in challenge 6 on the list already?

Also, i should be doing work, but instead playing around with photoshop.

The City of Eastgate's actual shield. These two shields are almost interchangeable, as the company runs the city. I eventually will create a naval flag.

Amrakect will work perfectly for me. Give me a few days and I will have a back story and shield for it since the only thing we have so far for it is the market. Gives me a good excuse to get building again, beyond the quick MOC I am doing now.

Haven't decided if it will be my main character or another one will representing the city yet. I'll think it over while I get the shield and things worked out.

I was under the impression as well that Sir James was not experienced enough to join the council yet. Sir James is marshalling his forces to take back his ancestrial home. Pictures to come as I work on it. Waiting on several orders from bricklink to get started.

The PGTC is honoured to receive the gift of the freedom of Stone Town, but we must admit it is not somewhere our Artists have yet depicted - We believe Basiliscus had that honour? Either Qarkyr or Lost Vega might be a better choice, as we have had the honour of showing life in those cities. Lost Vega might be better, as it has a higher revenue. Ultimately, the PGTC has no territorial affiliation beyond Kaliphlin itself, we have outposts in all significant towns and cities.

Stone Town was based on my city guide where I once said you were in charge of that city. In fact, I gave you first Lost Vega :classic:

I am going to check where I found that information

Lord Gex Marmota of Messahmuk

?

- Master Cartographer of Kaliphlin

- (by Nice Marmot)

I am a bit confused, has Nice Marmot left GoH (temporarely or permanently) or just gone silent?

The last posts I can find from him is from April.

He is supposed to come back one day, but honestly, no one of us ever heard him since then...

If I remember correctly, he had been laid off, and he told us he had to take a break for a bit. I think most of us are holding onto hope that he will return, as he was incredibly important to the guild for ideas, builds, stories, and of course, the maps.

Seeing as how I'm new (and a foreigner at that), it would probably be in your best interest not to have me on the council.

It's not relly in our best interest, but it is just fair for the older members :) those who will come over from the other guilds will have to wait as well :) ofcourse you'll be quicker invited than them :D

You will soon be surprised ... :sweet:

Thanks! I owe you some major compliments!

I'm back, although it will probably be a few weeks before I'm able to put together any builds.

Gex was contemplating his (potential) future role on the Kaliphlin Council of High Lords, as there had been some rumors about the Messahmuk Council of Elders nominating him for it. He was, however, quite surprised when the council voted on the issue. His wife, Countess Wyndifera Edwardhi, was nominated and unanimously approved for the post! Apparently the council thought that Gex was traveling and adventuring too much to be a reliable representative, and that his mind had never fully recovered from certain unspeakable horrors in his adventuring past... He was slightly miffed, but the countess told him to shut up and quit complaining -- this way he could still have influence without having to attend a bunch of boring meetings. Maybe, but he was still a bit ticked, although he felt a lot better after a full day of sand-worm riding in the Dune Sea with his buddies.

OOC: If our main character should be the one on the council, I'm fine with that too, but I thought this would be a good chance to expand beyond Gex a bit. OK?

BTW, not that I've been nominated for vice-leader, but I don't think I consistently have the time to do the job well, although it certainly would be fun. I'm definitely happy to help with guild administration however. For instance, I'll get another version of the maps going shortly. Perhaps we should make a list of tasks and roles, and then assign them out / ask for volunteers, so the vice-leader doesn't get overwhelmed? We could also rotate these roles regularly to keep people from burning out.

I will update it :classic:

I totally agree :sweet: I am still doubting between running for "Master of Books" (as I love putting stuff together) or "Great General of Kaliphlin" (as I think I got one of the biggest armies under my control). Too bad Mikel Kalores is not a High Lord as he would have been the perfect puppet for me :look: as he is an Alleenridder (probably he even would get the second highest title of Alleenridder), he has to obbey me

So except for "Master of Books", "Master Cartographer" (you) and "Great General of Kaliphlin", we still need some others as well:

- Lord of Foreign Affairs (he who probably has the best relations with everyone)

- Coin Master

I guess I should mention this now before we go too far. About a week ago the powers that be asked me to be Guild Leader for Kaliphlin. I said yes.

What does that mean? I will be administering Kaliplhin OOC and helping with the Guilds of Historica administration.

What does this mean for characters in game? Nothing, I really have not spoke with the other GLs about sigfigs, but for now (partially because Dugal is dead currently) I think the council of lords is a better in character way to run the guild. At least until Book 2 arrives in Kaliphlin (I can't remember what ZC said the order would be, if he did say) and as long as SI wants to be part of the guilds , I think we should honor him by making Dextrus Flagg our token leader. The Council of High Lords will be governmental body, perhaps Dugal will become the Seneschal or steward or something to designate an administrative role. For now I am not going to have a sigfig that "rules" Kaliphlin, as I think we have devised a pretty good system here that makes us unique amongst the other guilds.

What about the core Kaliphlinites? I still think everyone should have a shot at being part of the leadership team of this guild. From what I understand we will need two of you to help run the Book II storyline in Kaliphlin, one will be voted on. So there are two more leadership positions to be had later on. Additionally, as NM, Masa, and DM have insinuated in this post, there are openings for helpers along the way (I don't know if we are allowed to call them vice-leaders or not, but essentially that is the function). Your freedoms that you enjoyed before under SI will continue the same -- just think of it as we now have a direct representative (who only really hangs out in the history and pirates forum  )

For the newcomers, welcome to the guild! I hope you will stick around long enough to join the High Lords.

I think this is a good way to handle it, Ska. We really need someone who can more actively communicate with the other guild leaders, so we're in the loop on things. Happy to help out if you need it -- just let me know. No travels planned for a while

DM - not sure if we need a great general or not, but I'll bet Ska and I could give you a run for your money on armies! I say we appoint generals as and when needed to fit the job. If have a battle that calls for deviousness, treachery, cruelty, and ruthlessness, you'll be the first on my list  And I mean that as a compliment!

I have a clue about the army of Ska and I am sure your Southern Lions are only a part of your army :) we really need (a private as the others don't have to see it) show off soon :)

Oh, that is also something noteworthy to mention: Mpya Stedor became a lot more neutral lately :) having restrength their relation with Mitgardia and others. only everlast is still like your description :D

we sure are glad to hear, drow lovers are not welcome in the North!

BTW, I'm fine with having council members at-large (e.g., Robuko, Erynlasgalen, etc). I don't think we should make people pick a city or location just so they can be on the council.

Congrats Ska! I am very happy for us to have a representative in the GL's again, and know that you have the Guilds best interest at heart. As to helping out, like NM said, my schedule is so up and down that I can at times be unreliable, but am willing to help out in any other ways that I can.

Actually we should probably let Ska know when we have periods where we'll be away so he doesn't assign us stuff. And more importantly, let him know when we have a period where we have some time, but won't be able to build (like being on a business trip or something with no access to LEGO). Then he could assign us a non-building task, and we'd feel like we were still involved even though we weren't building.
