And I thought the faced used for a female minifig in the castle line was the same... :S Mr Tiber
March 13, 200717 yr It is Mr.T (Snickers under breath because of A-Team reference). The head is used on the maidens, and Mr.P, the first castle female was with the 1982(?) Knights joust set.
March 13, 200717 yr i've always liked that minifig because is original...she appeared in some sets with red bandana...and in others with blue bandaa...in any case is a cool minifig...but i don't like his head so much...she has woman lips...but she has short hair...like a guy....i think she should wear long hair...as the red hair girl of Ice planet 2002 in lego space
March 13, 200717 yr Rodger, its a stereotype that girls MUST have long hair and guys MUST have short hair. Most of the high-ranking men in my colony have long hair for status, only lowly peasants and black smiths must have short hair. In fact, when my 6-7 year old cousins come over, they call all the men with long hair 'girly', so I spite them by giving all the upper-class-men moustaches and long hair, so there. Also, if I'm not misaken, notorious female pirates Mary Read and Anne Boney cut their hair short even when Calico Jack Rackham knew they were women.
March 13, 200717 yr I remember getting one of my first piratesets, the minifig pack from 1989, when it was first released. This fig. was in it, but with the blue bandana instead of the red one. Never really found good use for her though, at least not in the piratetheme.... Sometimes as a wh*re (censored for you Americans...). :-P

March 13, 200717 yr Her face came in the forestmen's crossing also in the king's mountain fortress both of which were availible in 1990 if i remember correctly, i think the castle ones came with a solid stud on top. the BSB came with her face first in 1989 i think i don't think any other sets came with her earlier than that. Thanx for the censoring simonwillems :) P

All the females in castle sets had plain faces before 1989. Although I'm not absolutely sure on this. This is from browsing through the older sets @ brickfactory.com. The guarded inn had a female with a plain face, see link. And this blacksmith shop was released in 2002, see link. P

Pretty sure Pirate was the first theme to abandon the smiley. Female fig's have appeared in lego sets since the advent of the mini fig, but the Wench is the first one to have an obvious female face and bodice. CM
March 14, 200717 yr I'm pretty sure Pirates was the first theme to have faces with more than the original smiley. And since the BSB was part of the original line and included the pirate wench, I think its safe to conclude she was the first printed female face. Castle did have female figures, specifically the aforementioned inn keeper in the Guarded Inn and also the princess from the highly sought after Maiden's Cart. Personally, when I first saw the wench, I thought she was just a male pirate who had chapped lips... Steve
March 14, 200717 yr And I was about to say the "pirates came first with different printed faces." Ah, well. I think she's one of the best pirate figs of the pirate line. Well, that is to the fact that she is the only female figure in the entire Pirate line...
March 14, 200717 yr Nevermind her curvaceous body then Mr Athos :-D Well to be fair, I didn't actually own the set, and had to peer at the little pictures in the catalog, so I couldn't see the torso... just the face. March 15, 200717 yr Castle chicks only had plain faces. they were obvious as women due to their hair, hat , or torso with necklace. I have the guarded inn and the maidens cart in my castle collection somewhere. The pirate series was the first minifigs I remember as having printed faces.

Her face came in the forestmen's crossing also in the king's mountain fortress both of which were availible in 1990 ... P

June 18, 200717 yr That's a true classic. Great torso, although I prefer it with yellow arms instead of white (= no sleeves) - it wasn't released that way but I customised all of my wench torsos to be like that. Yes, it was the first female face in the history of Lego, and yes, in 1989 when Pirates appeared, Castle minifigs still had normal smileys, and yes, the first other-than-standard-smiley faces that appeared in the Castle line were in fact the same as the Pirate faces. About the short/long hair issue - this head looks pretty good with long black hair on it, so it doesn't necessarily have to be short. Edited June 18, 200717 yr by Dreamweb
