Lego Spy Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 ...their latest "hot" IP in 2015, which is supposedly some turn-based creature game. Whoops, I missed your post just2good! Anyway, turn-based... Creatures... I can only think of one thing. It starts with a "P". Quote
Lego Spy Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 (edited) "P"? Whaaaaa Pokémon! Back on topic ( ), the Phoenix Temple sounds interesting, though I have no idea how it would transform into a mech. Edited January 21, 2014 by Lego Spy Quote
LegendsOfNinjago Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Yeah, better not start rumors! Hahaha Quote
Infernum Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Col sounding sets! Can't wait for more details on the "AT-AT" and Phoenix-former! Quote
DraikNova Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 (edited) Actually, you can see quite a few general traits of the AT-AT-ish set in the prelims we've gotten. Then again, you said more details, so you may have already seen them. Edited January 22, 2014 by DraikNova Quote
Rocketbilly Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 I really wouldn't be surprised if Chima is discontinued soon, especially with the news that Ninjago is set to continue beyond 2015. It's a shame, because I love Chima and never really got in to NInjago all that much, despite bieng a fan of a fair few of the models.\ These new sets sound really good, anyway! Quote
robuko Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 The new tribes sound brilliant. I am loving the golden bear/panther, phoenix, and mammoth bigfig. I have only just started to buy in to Chima (love the figs, don't like the spinners, same as ninjago). I hope it lasts beyond 2015. Quote

And they look even better than they sound ;) No worries, currently no one is even considering ending CHIMA prematurely, on the contrary. With 1st half 2015 set design almost finished the real question is: will there be a year 4 (and 5..?) of CHIMA? That depends on many factors, of course: will CHIMA keep selling? Will the release of the next Star Wars movie be further delayed, creating a hole in LEGO's portfolio for 2015/16 (and thus possibly room for more CHIMA)? Or will LEGO risk launching another Big Bang play theme to succeed CHIMA, a new product line that might as well turn out to be a flop, despite all media hype and market research? If CHIMA has one problem, then it is that it's expected to perform way, way beyond the wildest expectations. Just spectacularly good won't do. Quote

I hope you're right, Chima is a fantastic theme and I'd hate to see it go prematurely! Quote
M'Kyuun Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 I'm a fan of the Chima sets, but not the show. That said, I'd like to see both NinjaGo and Chima continue for several more years, as I like the sets coming from both themes, and if both shows find their audience, then all the better for LEGO and the fans. If CHIMA has one problem, then it is that it's expected to perform way, way beyond the wildest expectations. Just spectacularly good won't do. Seeing as how you work for Lego, and you stated that the 1st half of 2015 is done, and you stated that the "real question is: will there be a year 4 (and 5..?)" I'm going to make one wild assumption, that we will be getting a wave 3. You said that waves 4 and 5 are unsure of, and I read that as "wave 3 isn't!" So tell me if I'm reading into this too much, because I believe we were just confirmed 2015 Chima sets, and if so, then that would be amazing! Thanks so much for being on the forums, you're the 3rd LEGO designer I've seen on the boards. Quote
krystalKING Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 Guessing that that's a Saber-toothed tiger. And there's a Phoenix emblem on Laval's torso! Quote
Thelegomaster Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 -Sci looks like I am going to start getting chima sets this year.... Quote
gedren_y Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 Why so late to the party? I just purchased four more on sale. Chima parts have made great additions to the GOH forum. Loving that we'll get more colors of the wings. I have some build/story projects that would be greatly enhanced by what we've seen in the prelims. Quote
Ardelon Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 What's that on the sabre-tothted tiger's cheek? It looks somewhat like muscle fibres, in the style of Nolan's Two-Face or Thranduil. Would be a bit extreme if it is so... Quote
Lego Spy Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 If the Saber-Tooth Tiger minifigures look anything like the artwork, then I'm really excited for this wave. Quote

Would be a bit extreme if it is so... The rumor is they were frozen and that some incident awoke them. So maybe they decomposed while they were frozen? Quote
robuko Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 This sabre toothed guy is giving me a very 2000AD vibe. For those who do not know it, it's a British comic magazine, rather dark, which created many iconic characters and launched the career of Alan Moore. These guys and my dinosaurs will be at total war in H2 2014. Quote
