Village80 Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 That Mammoth walker is superb! Very Zoid-y. Look at all that beautiful trans blue.....Definitely the highlight of 2014 across all ranges for me so far. Zoidy is spot on. Chima seems to borrow a lot from 1980s classic toys Zoids and Battle Beasts in the physical look and that is alright by me! Gorzan's Gorilla striker is very similar to Gore from Zoids, which also had a Mammoth walker, a Sabretooth tiger and Rhino mech etc. Quote
Csacsa234 Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 (edited) I don't know whether I like the temple or not, I wait until we get better quality pics of the set. The saber tooth machine is quite good, but the back looks empty. And that vulture is just baaad.. soo bad. The neck needs more detail and the wing pieces seem to be just thrown on it without any concept, also the trans-blue mammoth horns are not fitting on a bird-shaped plane IMO . The mammoth is no doubt the best set of the summer line (maybe the best Chima set I've seen so far  ). I'm also curious to see the final prints on the figs. I have to get quickly all the sets I need from the winter wave so I can start saving money for the summer . EDIT: It seems like the cannons at the end of the wings of the phoenix temple might be detachable little phoenix planes, you can see a lion sitting in one of them. LegendsOfNinjago Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 New picture of the Phoenix Temple set! I've seen it in the catalog... It's pretty disappointing. I'd take the "MAT-AT" over it. The figures in it are Fluminox, Flinx, Foltrax, Tormak, Li'Ella, Stealthor, and Voom Voom. Anyone care to put these pics on Flickr? Quote
DraikNova Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 (edited) Wait, the animal head colors are still green, grey, black, etc.? That is the most amusingly glaring prelim look ever. I will be most amused if that's kept. I agree with Aanchir on Laval's Walker looking like the Tarakava, but while the treads clash with it, the head sculpt is absolutely perfect, one of the best ever (ignoring the lower jaw, which is bare-bones at best). While the Ice Saber is by no means imposing, the new clip-on claws are excellent and will be very useful. I also like the availability of the brown technic "circles". The mini bike is not the worst ever, but by no means a useful usage of parts. I look forward to seeing the back this vehicle, as it seems much more impressive than the lack-luster front. The Mammoth AT-AT looks like it could teach the SW guys something about battling in the snow. This hulking beast of a set is majestic, imposing and has fr*ggin turbines on it's shoulders! I have to get this, as this looks like a paleontologist mad scientist went on a rampage in Siberia. Just look at it, what with that great use of the new "bone wing" pieces. I absolutely adore the Phoenix Temple. It reminds me very much of a LEGOJang MOC, albeit a Hero Factory one. It is massive, with brilliant color arrangement and features a great-looking small vehicle that for once does not look like a waste of budget. The new Speedorz appears to include a rock that can flip open, which looks like a freakish hybrid of the asteroid rock piece and a treasure chest. The Ice Vulture looks horrible, but remember: it features great parts, including mixels joints and other rarer and extremely useful parts/recolors. To sum up: Damn you LEGO, for ruining my carefully arranged budget plans and damning my wallet to hell. Edited January 27, 2014 by DraikNova Quote
LegendsOfNinjago Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 ^I've been saying the for years...and I'm only 17^ Quote
DraikNova Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Which part? The bit about the wallet is something FOLs of any and all ages have experienced. Quote
LegendsOfNinjago Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Yes that part. I have to plan my budget around a $1500 trip, which is hard with a job an highschool Quote
DraikNova Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Yes that part. I have to plan my budget around a $1500 trip, which is hard with a job an highschool Yeah, my plan for this year was to spend 300 euros on hero factory and save up 150 for new appliances, but Chima's Scorpion and Spider sets, not to mention the Summer wave, are looking like they'll eat up my budget if I'm not careful. Freddy Bricker Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Thanks for all the images everybody. At first glance, I could have sworn that the Vulture was an eagle with a Rhino head. I actually laughed a bit and thought that Lego put a Rhino head as a prelim piece as a joke about Rogon and Eris' relationship. Now that we have the image of the vulture set, however, I do not think I like the tribe. And where are the new tribes introduced in the Winter Waves? Do we just pretend that the Scorpions never existed? I'm sure they wouldn't get killed off, and best it be discussed in the multimedia forum? Also really hoping that we do get Lionesses in this wave. I feel Chima is doing really good right now in terms of female characters, but the Lions have always seemed like the one tribe that needed them. As for the mammoth, I love it. And are we also getting mammoth minifigures? I want to know why some are large and some are small, guess I'll have to tune in for that one. So good job Lego, with a couple of prelims you managed to ensure both my money and my time. Cashing in from both money and views, no wonder they're so successful! Quote
TheLazyChicken Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Anyone care to put these pics on Flickr? I have the mammoth set here, http://m.flickr.com/#/photos/102607428@N08/12178962723/ The other one here http://m.flickr.com/#/photos/102607428@N08/12179028903/ Quote
Shakar Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Looks like the videos have been removed, not that I'm surprised. Quote
kermit Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 The mammoth walker looks like it can either transform into another vehicle or a vehicle can detach from it. The detached vehicle looks kind of like the twin bike in flight mode from the picture. Quote
CM4Sci Posted January 28, 2014 Author Posted January 28, 2014 Stupid stupid stupid. We get it, you hate the sets. No need to continue. Anyway, LLM has a better pic of the Phoenix Temple up on the blog. -Sci Quote
just2good Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 New picture of the Fire Eagle on Legoleaksmexico's blog! Eh... Quote
PenPlays Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Darn it. No Fire Lagravis? This set is a serious Downgrade from the Eagle Interceptor. It isn't half bad though. Quote
CM4Sci Posted January 28, 2014 Author Posted January 28, 2014 That Fire Eagle doesn't look bad. -Sci Quote
CM4Sci Posted January 28, 2014 Author Posted January 28, 2014 (edited) Mammoth sized image of the Mammoth! EDIT: LLM got an email from LEGO, I guess this is the last one. Aww -Sci Edited January 28, 2014 by CM4S Quote
krystalKING Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Not sure about the fire Eagle, I'll get it to keep my Eagle collection complete, but I'm not sure I like that the cockpit is in the back. Quote
Shakar Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 So from what I can see: The Mammoths are olive green (though their main vehicle is brown) The Vultures are silver (PLEASE Lego, make those large wing pieces in silver!) The Sabretooth Tigers are white. Not what I was expecting, but I had no clue on what they'd use anyway (except maybe orange for the Tigers) so it's fine. I like these choices. And I just realized just how great the Ice Mammoth is. I won't be getting it but that's a pretty damn cool set (pun not intended, I swear!). Having the gigantic ears turn into engines is genius. Quote
DraikNova Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Those don't look like the ears to me. There's a pair of flap-like ears in front of the rotors. Quote
Ardelon Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 The mammoth walker looks like it can either transform into another vehicle or a vehicle can detach from it. The detached vehicle looks kind of like the twin bike in flight mode from the picture. I think thats a twin-rotor helicopter... Quote
krystalKING Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 (edited) I think thats a twin-rotor helicopter... It is, the first picture of the walker advertised a helicopter that split off somehow, I think that's it. EDIT: The fire Eagle says fire it up and transforms into a small tower-thing. I also have a crazy story idea realted to the new wave, anyone want to hear it? Edited January 28, 2014 by krystalKING Quote
Peppermint_M Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 It did look like an Elephanzer Zoid didn't it? This "Ice Age" direction is pretty cool looking. (*insert bad joke eel here*) This wave has been a lot more interesting too me than the others have. Quote
Aanchir Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Mammoth sized image of the Mammoth! EDIT: LLM got an email from LEGO, I guess this is the last one. Aww -Sci I just now noticed that the Mammoth has Transparent Light Blue bricks with ball cups for its ankles! Fun, fun, fun! I don't know how much use Hero Factory builders will get out of these, but coupled with the various Transparent Light Blue and Medium Azur Hero Factory beams you could achieve some cool things! Quote
