Takanuinuva Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 (edited) I wonder how there going to explain fire and ice chi? Also if all the animals drank from the chi to become anthro. then how did the phoenix, panther, sabertooth tiger, vulture and mammoth tribes become anthro if there were technically extinct. I really don't like how all the good guys have red bodies now. Sure its unifying the good side but now each good tribe is less unique Edited January 30, 2014 by Takanuinuva Quote

Darth Malgus Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Personally not a fan but my son loves Chima, these sets look rather good I'm sure they'll be additions to his collection. Quote
PenPlays Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 (edited) I'd like to break this moment to update the Chima Animal list (this includes video-games and the TV show, but excluding books)(Animals with actual minifig counterparts are in bold). Bats Bears Beavers Crocodiles Eagles Foxes Gorillas Leopards Lions (including unique Lioness minifigs) Mammoths Plovar (he is his own species it seems) Peacocks Panthers (tentative) Phoenixes Ravens Rhinos Sabre-Toothed Tigers Scorpions Skunks Spiders Tigers Vultures Wolves 23 different (sub-)species overall! I really don't like how all the good guys have red bodies now. Sure its unifying the good side but now each good tribe is less unique I read somewhere that the story is some Chi fell to the core of Chima affecting the 'extinct' tribes who (I imagine) looked like the legend beasts before the Chi fell down. How Fire Chi came into existence is not yet explained however. Quote
Mandate Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 You forgot the Mice tribe. There's also probably a bunch of different ones that came from the books (like the mice tribe), so I'm not even sure if we should be bothered to find all of them. Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 (edited) I'm a little confused......there are tigers and sabertooth tigers........so the later ones are the bad guys ? (I hope so......gee, I wouldn't want to see tigers as the bad guys ! ) In a way I'm waiting for the Chima - Ninjago cross-over one day ! Edit - By having a close look at the new regular Chima character torsos......they have the same flame logo as the tiger featured on the box art from the toy fair......so it appears the tigers are with the good guys and so they should ! Village80 Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Wow, those new pictures are fantastic. I wasn't sold on the big fig before but it looks great. They all look great frankly, although I'm still not sure I love the red uniformed Croc/Raven/Tigers. The Phoenix temple looks a must get now too, if only for the sabre-tooth tank. Vultures look pretty cool as well. Any idea what time in the Summer these will start appearing? Quote
Shakar Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Is Vardy's head sand purple? The wing pieces on the Ice Vulture are the same colour It's an.. interesting choice, but I'm disappointed they still haven't made that piece in silver. And a new Zamor sphere in white and blue! Looks awesome.. I already know where to use it. Quote
Mikuri Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 And here in USA/Canada we're still waiting on those Bats/Rhinos/Scorpions sets... é.è Quote

Lundur from Vardy's Ice Glider is a male leopard. It looks like him, lioness Li'Ella and tiger Tormak use the same head piece. Quote

Those'll be useful for statues and the like. Quote
DraikNova Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 I am loooving that new claw piece. The mammoth walker is significantly less interesting to me now (phew, it's spared my wallet), as it is far too skeletal in the back (while the top is excellent and looks MOC-quality). On the other hand, or possibly paw, or even talon, the Phoenix temple is looking so very much better. The excellent Saber vehicle and awesome transforming function and countless other features make this too great a set to be true. The Fire Lion is even worse than I thought, however, and the same goes for Eris' vehicle (and would go for Fangar's Walker as well, if it weren't for that beautiful tr. blue minifig armor). The real question is why the mammoth bigfig has three tusks and no trunk. Quote
Wardancer Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 I dont understand the elefants design. The area where teeth and trunk come Out looks bulky somehow. Maybe for stability reasons? Also the White thing coming Out of the trunk looks weird. Quote
Lego Spy Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 So they all have one Trans-Blue leg now? I think I missed something. But I really like the new minifigures, with the new pieces (Trans-Blue everything), and of course, the Sabre-Tooth Tigers. Quote

Although skeletally incorrect of a Mammoth/Elephant, the Mammoths have a trunk shaped bone coming out their upper trunks, because (again) the Ice Villains are zombies. That is also the reason why several of them have Ice-prosthetic arms and legs. Quote
Bricktimus Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 All the new animal species look great, but I do think that the mammoth / elephant heads do look a little cumbersome. I'm definitely going to pick up a couple of the tigers though!!! They are awesome! Quote
bekindsorewind Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 *snip* Thanks for the pics! The icy legs makes me think they're "thawing" in a sense. Pretty cool, but it's kinda lame there's no icy version for the other leg in one of the minifigures. It looks like we're getting vultures, mammoths, tigers, sabertooth tigers, and phoenixes. The mammoths are a little too much for me personally, but I'm sure fans will enjoy them greatly. The phoenix temple looks to have nothing but new tribe figures as well as a phoenix king (I think...). Should be an incentive for fans of the theme. Quote
JeagerEX Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 The Mammoth Tribe is kinda reminds me of Ganesha. Quote

Should be an incentive for fans of the theme. Looking closely I can see some feminine curves on that figure though the slope dress has been used for royal males (in and out of this theme) before so I can see where you got the idea it was a male. But it does appear to have feminine curves, so I'm going (and hoping!) for Queen right about now. And are we fully aware of all the figures we're getting this year? I'm still holding my breath for a Crunket figure, and I'm also interested to know where Crooler is right now, of course this belongs n another thread in another forum, but still. Quote
Bob C Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 the extreme use of the trans blue makes it not so cool anymore. when bionicle and early hf were around the transparent was like a rare thing. Quote
The Real Indiana Jones Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 (edited) Lundur is a male leopard. It looks like he, the lioness Li'Ella, and the tiger Tormak use the same head piece. It looks like you are right, the Lionesses, Tigers, and Leopards all use the same new head. The Sabretooths are different. So the Panthers will probably use the Leopard head mold too, hopefully in black... Mystery solved (?) Panthers and Jaguars are very similar to Leopards. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panthera Edited January 31, 2014 by The Real Indiana Jones Quote
The Real Indiana Jones Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 (edited) Hmmm, Another thing just occurred to me... I think the head on the Mammoth bigfig is the exact same piece as the head on the Mammoth minifigs... Therefore, you must be able to remove the bigfig Mammoth's head just like any other Chima minifig, and then you would have a generic giant with a standard minifig head, exactly like a lot of people have been asking for! Then you could make a giant with a Spider head, or Scorpion head, or almost any other head that will fit! Am I the first person to notice that? =) Edited January 31, 2014 by The Real Indiana Jones Quote

Well there is one set, which I assume is a store exclusive, that wasn't revealed at Nuremberg called Cragger's Fire Striker. That may contain Crunket. There is also a book coming later this year that includes an exclusive figure. Edited January 31, 2014 by Wall E2624 Quote
