The Real Indiana Jones Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 (edited) Hm, that might just be true. I think you're right! We'll have to wait until later to see if the head's actually removable, though. Logically, I would have to guess that it is... If so, then you can take it off like any Chima head, and then there would be a normal minifig head underneath, which can probably also be swiveled and removed from a neck-post... That would be an excellent design move, and it would allow you to make various giant bigfigs with any kind of head. It is also the same general concept as the Troll from the Harry Potter set in 2002, except more muscular. In fact, here is concept art by Alexandre Boudon, showing the general gist of it. The bigfig Mammoth should be like the "Chaos Lord" seen here, but with a Chima Mammoth head instead of a helmet. Edited February 1, 2014 by The Real Indiana Jones Quote
just2good Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 So like the Sabre-tooth Tribe is one big tribe? Huh? Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 So like the Sabre-tooth Tribe is one big tribe? Huh? It would appear so, as the video suggests that the Mammoth tribe is actually "part off the Sabre-tooth tribe". Also really loving all those functions in the Phoenix temple. Quote
DraikNova Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Wow. That is one early attempt at a review. Oh well, the early bird gets the worm , as they say. Also, was anyone else amused by the "chi dropping" feature? Anyway, that set is looking more and more interesting. Quote
Niloc Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 (edited) It was already clear that the Phoenix Temple had a flying mode, but seeing it in action, I was surprised to see the "front pillars" turning into foots at the same time as the wings... Wow, I love these kinds of mechanism! It reminds me of the same surprise I had when it was revealed the Ninjago Fire Temple could split in two. At first, I didn't have a positive impression of the saber-tooth bike that comes with it, but looking closer and discovering its features, I think it's pretty nice. Though I fail to see a sabre-tooth shape as clear as the lion heads on their vehicles... So... Not only did the crocodiles learn to fly (see Cragger's boat), but now both the smilodons (saber-tooth) AND the mammoths have their own hovercraft! Poor eagles, not so safe anymore, eh? So like the Sabre-tooth Tribe is one big tribe? Huh? I wonder if the guy really knew what he was talking about, he didn't seem sure about what he said. I mean, why wouldn't the mammoths have their own tribe? They even have their big mammoth walker. The only reason why they'd belong to the saber-tooth tribe is because, well... they technically have "tooths" too. Well, it will be cleared soon enough. Edited February 2, 2014 by Niloc Quote
Lego Spy Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Also, was anyone else amused by the "chi dropping" feature? Anyway, that set is looking more and more interesting. Yeah, I was thinking, "Are you sure that was intentional?" So like the Sabre-tooth Tribe is one big tribe? Huh? It seems like they're separate tribes, but maybe its a tribe, within a tribe, within a tribe sort of thing. Here's my basic thought, in a diagram: Mammoth-----------------+ -----------------------------Both part of = "Reawakened from Ice" Tribe --> Ice Tribe Sabre-Tooth Tigers----+ Quote
Wardancer Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Nice diagram :-D Did sabertooth-Tigers not eat mammoths back in the days? Quote
Lego Spy Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 (edited) Nice diagram :-D Thanks! Did sabertooth-Tigers not eat mammoths back in the days? I believe so... Edited February 2, 2014 by Lego Spy Quote
DraikNova Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Actually, fully grown mammoths would be far too large for even a full pack of tigers to take on. Young or weak ones, perhaps, but not healthy ones. Also, for most of the geological time span that either type of creature existed, they lived in different areas. Quote

I feel stupid And how many sets are we expecting for this wave? I can't seem to find a definite set list but I would like to know just how much we're getting. Quote
PenPlays Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 And how many sets are we expecting for this wave? I can't seem to find a definite set list but I would like to know just how much we're getting. According to my set checklist on my profile page (which I put together through Brickset when it was available early in the month), there will be a total of 24 sets for the Ice wave (17 for the Outlands wave) including Speedorz and Constraction Figures. Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Thanks, but when you say "17 for the Outlands wave" do you mean the Winter Wave? Quote
PenPlays Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Thanks, but when you say "17 for the Outlands wave" do you mean the Winter Wave? Exactly. I forgot to mention that the numbers for the Outlands wave also includes the two polybags. Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 So we're getting a 7 set summer wave, not too shabby if I may say so myself. Quote
Kintobor Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Really the undead look of the villains! They look quite grotesque, in all honesty. The lionesses and the tigers look really cool. I'm surprisingly not all that thrilled of the Phoenixes, but I'll definitely try to pick up the Temple, it looks quite good in terms of figures and parts. All around really cool! Quote
CM4Sci Posted February 3, 2014 Author Posted February 3, 2014 Not that better but it shows the minifigures in the back of the circle at 1:58. -Sci Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 (edited) Thanks for the video CM4S, I just realized that not only does Fluminox have feminine curves, but it would appear the other Phoenix to come in the temple does too. Either that or Lego shaded the outline's of his outfit, but I think it would be great if Lego put 3 females in 1 set (non-Friends/Princess). That's not to say this line is doing bad with diversity, though. If anything, Chima is by far one of the best lines to offer kids "a little bit of everything", figure and design wise. krystalKING Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 There are three females, Maula is a female mammoth. Anyway, since I can't watch the video, I zoomed in on some HD photos, I'm not seeing any curves on Fluminox, and I can't tell about the other. I DO know Flinx is a child though, the use of trans-orange fire pieces as little wings is fantastic! Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Really, I believe Fluminox's curves are very 'obvious', but perhaps her armor seems to be blocking her curves. Either that or I'm going crazy (probably the latter). Quote
krystalKING Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 On a box picture focusing on the figures, I saw the robes, but no curves. I may be wrong though, hopefully I am. Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Stopping at exactly 2 minutes in the video seems to indicate curves, but my eyes have deceived me in the past! On another note, I haven't been to Toy's 'R' Us in what seems to be ages, but is it true that we Americans have not yet gotten the sets, I think I read so a couple of pages back, my apologies for all the questions, this is what happens when you don't visit your store often. Quote
PenPlays Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 (edited) No curves on Fluminox. At 2:00 in the video it is very, very clear. What's with Chima's "mysterious gender" Bird kings anyway (what with Ewald and his garbs)? Edited February 4, 2014 by Penkid11 Quote

Thelegomaster Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Most of the sets look interesting but, Laval's peekaboo lion, is just terrible. I'm still gonna get it for the pieces and figures Quote
