Interesting to see how these Speedor sets measure compared to my original reception of them.

The Scorching Blades set seems decent, but it's overly linear and the "difficulty" presented by the gimmick is merely a facade.

As for the Flaming Claws, it's too bad the claws aren't interactive, where an opponent could try and snatch the Speedor while in mid-air. But that'd be much too ambitious.

And the Inferno Pit could be one of the better ones, only because of the string attached to the boulder.

The others perform as I expected, although the Fire vs. Ice set is particularly lacking.

This guy on youtube named Brick Builder has some 'reviews' of the new Chima sets. The cave set is $90! I don't think I am getting it anymore.

I've heard this rumor...I really hope it's not true. $90 doesn't seem like a reasonable price for the ice fortess.

Also, fom that scan I posted of the instructions, it looks like Mungus has exactly the same head cover piece as the smaller mammoths. Could this mean we now have a bigfig with a fully removable head?

Yes it will be removable

Yes it will be removable

I highly suspected that was the case from the high quality pictures in the manual of the new Speedorz set, but it's always good to know for sure. I'll have to make a point of getting the Fire Lion as soon as S@H show stock of it, Mungus gets a big thumbs up from me for design  I imagine there'll be many more custom bigfigs in the future using this new body mould and, in my opinion, this is a long time coming for LEGO. I wonder if there will be any future bigfigs with removable heads or headgear?

When the Hulk bigfig was anounced I thought about him that his head could be removed too. It's good that Mungus's head is replaceable, but I don't know how MOCable will he be, because the rest of his body not quite universal for other characters, and the skin color makes it less useable. But it's certainly an improvement and I'm sure there will be some great uses for the body. I can only imagine this body used for trolls or giants.

Darn... I hope not. Let's just keep our fingers crossed that he is mistaken!

I was thinking it would be similar in price to Spinlyn's Cavern, but maybe not...

I don't thing the cave worth that money, it's not a big deal, only the saber toothed flyer looks good. I will certainly buy Fangar's walker, it's a much better way to get him IMO, Also I think this is the strongest wave for Chima yet. This Ice-Fire story with all these beautiful figs and transforming, splitting vehicles. I watched Brick Builder's other videos of the new summer line, and I didn't want to spoil the fun for myself, but just couldn't bear checking the vids, there are such clever and interesting building techniques that works the mechanism and functions. For example Eris's new Eagle Interceptor, it's a bit weird and has to many exposed technic pieces, but the idea how it works is amazing, I can't wait to get all sets, hopefully I can manage it in the summer. (except the Speedorz, man those are the ugliest thing TLG ever done)

Sorry for the double post, just saw that Jangbricks has uploaded his review of Maula's Ice Mammoth Stomper.

I was so curious to see how the mammoths head looks like without the headmold, but they don't have mouths, which makes sense but it looks so freaky.*oh2*

A few weeks ago I noticed the existence of a new Chima polybag 30265 in a set of Chima instructions. Well, now the polybag itself has been found (the info comes from Brickset). I've put the picture of it in a spoiler because it might be a little bit big.

30265-1.jpg

To be honest, it looks like the Worriz Redwolf Cycle

Wow, it's a great polybag, the motorbike looks decent, however I'm not a huge fan of Worriz but it's still a good polybag set.

Advertisements for the sets are popping up now in the U.S. Interestingly, one of them is for the constraction figures:

No idea about the show's return, but the official YouTube channel has 7 new filler videos, 4( Maybe 5?) advertisements, and 3 character spots.

(Not that it matters much, but my 100th post. Huh.)

EDIT: Pretend the word "Constraction" did not appear as "Construction". Oops...

(If this post is combined with my last post, it's meant to be separate.)

In addition to LEGO Shop @ Home now selling summer sets, two new polybag instructions have been added to the instructions section of the website.

The first is Frax's Phoenix Flyer, 30264.

http://brickset.com/sets/30264-1

The second is Sykor's Ice Cruiser, 30266.

Both appear to have exclusive minifigures, but I would guess they are two of the three minifigures in upcoming Speedorz sets, along with Panthar.

Thanks for this info Starrocks! Just when I thought I had finished my summer Chima fig collection yesterday, these two come along and make my life harder

For ease, I've linked directly to those building instructions from LEGO's cache:

Frax's Phoenix Flyer

Sykor's Ice Cruiser

The figs could be either in the next Speedorz sets, or there's the possibility of another limited retail set perhaps, after all 70148 is free in the set number sequence...

These polys are really nice. Very nice to have new minifigures in them too. I'm sure Frax will a clone to Foltrax a la Equila/Ewar. Sykor looks new however.

Frax looks great. I want all of the Phoenix tribe. Interesting that they're making new characters for these polybags, rather than fillers, like Worriz. I don't think an Ultrabuild embargo is likely, if there's an ad for it, and no reason at all to exclude an export. What I like about the fire and ice theme is that I feel like Chima didn't jump the shark (as much) like Ninjago did. And the new pieces... Fangar's Fortress is about 50 pounds in GB, so I assume it will be between 50 and 60 dollars in the US. I don't know why it would total to 90 here. It's not even licensed!

Fangar's Fortress is actually £59.99 in the UK (see here), but you're right - I have trouble seeing how the fortress could be $90 in the US when it's £60 the other side of the Atlantic. $70 as a higher end estimate seems more likely for the US.

Does anyone know what the official US release for the Fire vs. Ice wave? I haven't seen them popping up yet, and the LEGO shop doesn't have them up yet with a "to be released on X, XX, 2014" yet..

I'm not a big Chima fan or collector. I tend to just grab an occasional set for parts and colors. But damn that Ice Mammoth as my attention.
