Artizan Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 Hi guys, I finally finished my diorama: "The rebel resistance is pathetic! Their so called guards are ineffective against our stormy boys, and I don't even need to bother about these cloud cars, as the name suggests, they're nothing more than a citizen vehicle with mounted inferior guns. Hunting down these red cloud cars became a fun game for me, they can never outmaneuver my supreme TIE fighter! Still I need to go after that rebel ship, Millenium Falcon, before it flies away from the city. I can clearly see from above that Lando Calrissian, the Baron Administrator, is fighting his way out, which means Falcon is still landed somewhere..." Hope you like the diorama, please feel free to leave your comments and feedback in the topic, thanks for looking! Quote
TenorPenny Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 The Cloud Car is cute and swooshable. The red works, also. Quote
MstrOfPppts Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 Both ships are well done and also accurate. They are more in a midi scale, so I don't know where's the point in fitting the minifig into TIE? Quote
Artizan Posted August 15, 2013 Author Posted August 15, 2013 (edited) Hey, thanks. Well I thought it would be nice to show my own character riding this particular TIE fighter, instead of any pilot. If it fits, it seats Edited August 15, 2013 by Artizan Quote
Nom Carver Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 That is a cute little vessel, and it fits a fig! I hope to see these in some intense action in a very beautiful background. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 I like both of those. The TIE's wings looks a bit on the small side, and its proportions looks a little 'off' when you compare it to the Cloud Car that doesn't fit a minifig. But overall, they look great, and I look forward to seeing them in action over Bespin. Quote
Hobbythom Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Great fighters! Perhaps you could fix the difference in scale by using forced perspective? Quote
Artizan Posted August 16, 2013 Author Posted August 16, 2013 (edited) Thanks for the feedback! I decided to give the TIE fighter more details, so I built a frame around the wings just like the official set, I also made minor tweaks there and here. Edited August 16, 2013 by Artizan Quote

I'm looking forward to your diorama. I'm planning an outer space diorama as well, what program did you use to get the star effects in the background and the glow to the missiles? Edited August 16, 2013 by Brickdoctor Please don't quote images from recent posts. Quote
Artizan Posted August 16, 2013 Author Posted August 16, 2013 I am glad you liked it. I used photoshop to erase the original photo background, and then I put a space picture on the background, which I have found on internet. The glowing effect was also added in photoshop via layer properties.Btw, I am not planning to do an outer space battle, I just did it to present my TIE. Quote
Artizan Posted August 18, 2013 Author Posted August 18, 2013 Hello fellow brickers, I have now finished the diorama, enjoy: http://www.flickr.com/photos/21569129@N04/sets/72157635124847822/with/9535567859/ Quote
Nom Carver Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 I like the look of your cloud city buildings but I recomend to change the position so the forced perspective work better, I also recomend adding a lot more details on the base plate so it looks like the city is below and maybe some white rounded plates in diferent levels to give the impression that clouds are below. Dapper-D2 Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Wow! This is really looking fantastic! I love what you have done with the platform and the building! Quote
Hobbythom Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 The building and platform are very nice! Quote
Artizan Posted August 20, 2013 Author Posted August 20, 2013 I have updated the diorama. The baseplate is gone for good, and some slight modifications. C&C welcome. Quote
MstrOfPppts Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 No baseplate! That's really cool. It really makes the building stand out and does not limit it on the ground. I'd still make the landing platform slightly bigger. It seems as the pilot might fall off, when exiting the pod Quote
LegoFjotten Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Nice! It looks a lot better without the baseplate! The new arrangements of the buildings works much better in building a scene too! Quote
Lobot Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Great work Artizan (for the Empire.... ) The surrounding buildings are beautiful and capture the magic of Cloud City  Quote
Artizan Posted August 20, 2013 Author Posted August 20, 2013 Hey thanks. But this Moc is not a free build, it is my entry for the Sone Episode 1. Quote
Lobot Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Hey thanks. But this Moc is not a free build, it is my entry for the Sone Episode 1. Sorry about that, I've updated the text Quote
Nom Carver Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 I love your buildings! this was a huge improvement Quote
Brickdoctor Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 The buildings are a bit small and the transition is abrupt, but you completely pulled it off! I love how very Cloud City this feels, especially with the editing in the first photo -- that slight white glow around the edge where the background was edited in gives the MOC an almost ethereal quality. I also think you did a great job with the landing platform and the door it leads to: the browns, the grilles, the transparent random pillar. Quote
Tom Jurassic Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Beautiful little scene, I absoulotely love your Cloud City Moc, the Platform is awesome, the Vehicles are great, and the way you've done the Backdrop looks awesome! :) Really captures the essence of Cloud City, well done! :) Quote
