BrickBob Studpants Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 (edited) @Mutant Orc: Quality over quantity I'd say TABA consists of three big events, so it's quite reasonable to have two of those covered with one set each and the biggest event deserving two sets, at least in the scenario I'm thinking of At least we're guaranteed "all new characters", but that's pretty much a given I just wish we'd get to see the whole page of the catalogue, maybe it mentions Smaug in the seller information in the right corner (à la "Boys like to play with huge dragons" ) @Darth Punk: I guess that's referring to the Arkenstone, which is surely included in one of the sets (probably the same that includes Bilbo, he pretty much has to be in one of them with him being the titular character) Edited January 11, 2014 by Lego-Freak
Darth Punk Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 I am hoping for an Erebor set which I hope that reference is referring to.
djmangunz Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 I've combined the two bits of information we have thus far: 79015: box size: 191 x 141 x 46 mm, price: ~12€ 79016: box size: 282 x 262 x 59 mm, price unknown 79017: box size: unknown, price: ~35€ 79018: box size: 582 x 378 x 87 mm, price: ~90€ 79015 seems to be your typical 12€ set and probably includes two minifigs just like 9469, 79000 and 79005. It might be three like in other themes, but I wouldn't expect more than two. A fitting option (as suggested before) seems to be a third Dol Guldur set with Galadriel and Sauron. Scenes based on the Laketown attack and the BO5A wouldn't make much sense with this one being such a small set. 79016 and 79017 seem to be roughly the same size and could both be army-builders since the box of 79016 seems to be rather squarish like 9471 and 79017 seems to have the same price as 9471. Those two could thus be based on the BO5A The box of the last one is as big as 79008 and seems to be a similarly priced set, so I'd expect something quite substantial (like Smaug ) So just a few guesses: 79015: box size: 191 x 141 x 46 mm, price: ~ $12 Battle of Dol Guldur, small cage, Galadriel, Sauron, Gandalf 79016: box size: 282 x 262 x 59 mm, $20 Ruins of Dale: small ruined Dale building 2 Laketown soldiers, 2 Goblins 79017: box size: unknown, price: ~$35 Battle of the Five Armies: landscape of the Lonely Mountain, Beorn in bear form, Bolg, 1 Mirkwood Soldier, 1 Goblin, 79018: box size: 582 x 378 x 87 mm, price: $90 Erebor; Gates and dwarven statues in green, molded Smaug, Dain Ironfoot with boar, 2 Iron Hills Dwarves, Thorin, Bilbo with Arkenstone, eagle Just a few guesses. All I really want is Galadriel, Blog, and Dain Ironfoot with boar steed
Darth Punk Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 So just a few guesses: 79015: box size: 191 x 141 x 46 mm, price: ~ $12 Battle of Dol Guldur, small cage, Galadriel, Sauron, Gandalf 79016: box size: 282 x 262 x 59 mm, $20 Ruins of Dale: small ruined Dale building 2 Laketown soldiers, 2 Goblins 79017: box size: unknown, price: ~$35 Battle of the Five Armies: landscape of the Lonely Mountain, Beorn in bear form, Bolg, 1 Mirkwood Soldier, 1 Goblin, 79018: box size: 582 x 378 x 87 mm, price: $90 Erebor; Gates and dwarven statues in green, molded Smaug, Dain Ironfoot with boar, 2 Iron Hills Dwarves, Thorin, Bilbo with Arkenstone, eagle Just a few guesses. All I really want is Galadriel, Blog, and Dain Ironfoot with boar steed I like the first and last options particularly the last.
Alcarin Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 So just a few guesses: 79015: box size: 191 x 141 x 46 mm, price: ~ $12 Battle of Dol Guldur, small cage, Galadriel, Sauron, Gandalf 12$ for 3 figs? Not really... if 3 figs its 99% a 14.99$ 79016: box size: 282 x 262 x 59 mm, $20 Ruins of Dale: small ruined Dale building 2 Laketown soldiers, 2 Goblins Sounds good allthough I just dont see them making a armybuilder out of Lake Town guards... 79017: box size: unknown, price: ~$35 Battle of the Five Armies: landscape of the Lonely Mountain, Beorn in bear form, Bolg, 1 Mirkwood Soldier, 1 Goblin, YES, I want that but ONLY if the Mirkwood soldier is armored (helmet mold etc.) 79018: box size: 582 x 378 x 87 mm, price: $90 Erebor; Gates and dwarven statues in green, molded Smaug, Dain Ironfoot with boar, 2 Iron Hills Dwarves, Thorin, Bilbo with Arkenstone, eagle Why the statues in green? They looked gray to me.... Just a few guesses. All I really want is Galadriel, Blog, and Dain Ironfoot with boar steed In quoted with red...
deskp Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 Lordofthebrick has this down as the nuber of pieces, this i what i think could happen/ want from the minifigures. 101 = 2 minifigures. Dol guldur seomthing- Hoping for 1 Galadriel and galhadrim soldier or armored elrond. 0 Gandalf in this set please. 313 = 6 minifigures (if its an army builder-like set) propably some dale ruin, 2 New armored orcs, 1 Dain, 2 armored elves + 1 armored dwarf? 471 = 5 minifigures (lake town size) more dale, proapbly mroe story based, so thorin, fili, kili, azog and beorn? XXX = ? If this is the smaug set then it's proapbly town hall of laketown, Bolg, Bard, Laketown guard, Alfrid, Bain, Legolas, and Smaug. could give us another Tauriel aswell(arwen hair)
djmangunz Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 79015: box size: 191 x 141 x 46 mm, price: ~ $12 Battle of Dol Guldur, small cage, Galadriel, Sauron, Gandalf 12$ for 3 figs? Not really... if 3 figs its 99% a 14.99$ Good catch, 3 figs normally go in $20 sets. So then Galadriel and Sauron 79016: box size: 282 x 262 x 59 mm, $20 Ruins of Dale: small ruined Dale building 2 Laketown soldiers, 2 Goblins Sounds good allthough I just dont see them making a armybuilder out of Lake Town guards... From what I have heard there is going to be a skirmish in the Ruins of Dale. The video blog 13 shows a snippet of Thranduil fighting with orcs in what looks like Dale so I guess you could replace one of the Lake Town soldiers with a Mirkwood one... 79017: box size: unknown, price: ~$35 Battle of the Five Armies: landscape of the Lonely Mountain, Beorn in bear form, Bolg, 1 Mirkwood Soldier, 1 Goblin, YES, I want that but ONLY if the Mirkwood soldier is armored (helmet mold etc.) I would like printed armor on the elves but I can live with elf hair if we don't get a helmet. 79018: box size: 582 x 378 x 87 mm, price: $90 Erebor; Gates and dwarven statues in green, molded Smaug, Dain Ironfoot with boar, 2 Iron Hills Dwarves, Thorin, Bilbo with Arkenstone, eagle Why the statues in green? They looked gray to me.... I have the gates of Erebor as my screensaver and the statues just like the gates appear green to me but I could be wrong I guess example: http://lotr.wikia.com/wiki/Lonely_Mountain I tried to incorporate mostly new characters like the Lego Hobbit preliminary picture suggested but I felt that Bilbo and Thorin needed to be included since they are the main characters. And Gandalf since he seems to be included in almost every other set I would imagine that we are guaranteed a Dain Ironfoot minifigure as well as a Bolg. The others are a crap shoot. It seemed to me that one of the sets needed to have an eagle. And here is hoping for a new mold for the crested helmets of the Iron Hills soldiers as well as a new bear form for Beorn, and a boar that a minifigure could ride.

deskp Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 Can we assume the hobbit will also get a big d2c seet later? With the normal release of TABA being in october they could even release a set like that in december. Is there any chanse of a store exclusive set on top of the 4 sets we have?

Maybe there will be three minifigs instead of classic two :) Maybe its a set based on plot at Dol Guldur, with Sauron, Galadriel and Gandalf :) I guess that set no 2 will be armybuilder and the 4th set will depict Smaug and part of Erebor/Dale...

With the normal release of TABA being in october they could even release a set like that in december. Is there any chanse of a store exclusive set on top of the 4 sets we have? I don't think there's a secret fifth set As far as I know, the retail-exclusive sets in both Middle-earth themes (i.e. the Orc Forge and the Barrel Escape) were always revealed in the catalogues along with the regular sets. A D2C set is still possible of course, but as long as we get a decent Smaug in 79018, I'd rather see a final LOTR set to send off both themes
Alcarin Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 Amazingbricks has posted this price list in the other thread (2013 news + rumors): 79015 Set 1 – 101 pcs – $15 79016 Set 2 – 313 pcs – $30 79017 Set 3 – 471 pcs – $60 79018 Set 4 – xxx pcs – $130 79018 seems to be a very substantial set Well this looks interesting... 1. a small set likely 3 figs if its 14.99 (might indeed be Gandalf, Galadriel Necromancer/Sauron 2. army builder... lets hope for dwarves of Dale and Dain in it! 3. Looks something like Weathertop style of set... 4. Looks like Smaug with 130$ price point.
kevkipo Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 Only four??!! Shame. I hope they change their mind and add another two... Still, at least we're getting some sets! You spoke my words my friend :) If Dain, New clothes Bilbo and Thorin (and some other dwarves), Smaug and Bolg and/or Bear Beorn come in these sets i'll be one happy man! But mostly Smaug :D
djmangunz Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 The Brickset entries of those sets mention the same prices: http://www.brickset....il/?Set=79018-1 Well hells yes then! Erebor with Smaug here I come!
deskp Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 Well hells yes then! Erebor with Smaug here I come! The fact that these sets are very much TABA based, should mean it'll be Laketown smaug, not Erebor smaug. Maybe there will be three minifigs instead of classic two :) Maybe its a set based on plot at Dol Guldur, with Sauron, Galadriel and Gandalf :) Is Gandalf really worth an extra 3 dollars anymore? x] WOuld be ace if lego did manage to make up the real armored sauron tho, he'd need atleast 1 new molded piece so that could be the price. It would be glorious if wave 3 has no Gandalf at all!!
djmangunz Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 (edited) The fact that these sets are very much TABA based, should mean it'll be Laketown smaug, not Erebor smaug. I guess but the only other set big enough to get a Smaug would be the $60 one. Well, in light of the new prices here are my new ideas: 79015 Set 1 – 101 pcs – $15 Battle of Dol Guldur,: small fortress wall Galadriel in battle armor, Sauron, and Saruman 79016 Set 2 – 313 pcs – $30 Battle of Dale: ruined Dale building, Elrond in battle armor, two orcs, two Mirkwood soldiers 79017 Set 3 – 471 pcs – $60 Smaug Attack: Laketown tower with mounted windlass crossbow, Bard, Laketown archer, Kili, Fili, Tauriel 79018 Set 4 – xxx pcs – $130 Battle of Erebor: Gates of Erebor, two large dwarf statues, small treasure room with treasure chests, Arkenstone, Bilbo, Dain Ironfoot with boar, two Iron Hills soldiers, Bolg, Legolas, Beorn in bear form and...you are welcome The Lego Company. Darth Caedus Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Its popular belief that Galadriel, Elron and Radagast and Saruman will come back to save Gandalf. and hence Galadriel since we got all other figs already. Not even popular belief, we know for a fact that Saruman will come to save Gandalf, as evidenced by Christopher Lee's 2013 Christmas video where he reveals that he will show up in TABA with 'lots of action.' That can only be Dol Guldur. And Saruman won't show up alone - Galadriel will be there for sure as well (since Gandalf sends Radagast to fetch her specifically), and likely Elrond.
