Darth Caedus Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Actually, if Beorn is dropped from a theoretical BO5A armybuilder and replaced with boar-riding Dain, it'd be fine, since although Dain would be trickier to reuse, you'd armybuild boars, which is awesome.

I think the animal/creature in the "armybuilder" would be an eagle.

If the Lego designers are as clever as I think they are, they could come up with a boar figure that can be used to pull Grond for a LOTR Minas Tirith set, and also for Dain to ride in a TABA Hobbit set. Two boars for Minas Tirith, one for Dain. Maybe then a custom mould wouldn't be a waste.

A boar mold wouldn't be a waste cause they could be used in future zoo/forest sets, a boar is a natural creature so they could sue it again if needed. rememebr the ostrict they amde for 1 set? same thing goes for that, Edited January 16, 2014 by deskp
atreyu2112 Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Grond ... the ram itself... has a boar-ish head
SirBlake Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Grond ... the ram itself... has a boar-ish head I guess... But it's other name is "The Wolf's Head".

If Lego were to design a more aggressive boar model and throw some metal plating on it's head, we could have 2 different paint variations. One could be a brown boar with steel painted head plating (armor-like), and the other version could be a blueish boar with tan painted head plating to resemble the beasts pulling Grond. I don't believe a more "natural" looking boar would be quite as menacing or have as much of a cool factor. Of course this all depends on what Weta's boar ends up looking like, if the boar is plain Jane, my idea is kaput! Just my thoughts, not trying to start a forum ruckus! Deathleech Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 (edited) I don't think using Dain's boar as a great beast would work. Dain's boar is going to be MUCH smaller I would imagine, and the great beasts that pull Grond look more like rhino's than boars: Edited January 16, 2014 by Deathleech
Darth Punk Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Grond ... the ram itself... has a boar-ish head I always thought it looked more like a rat.
atreyu2112 Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Hahaha... yeah that too. How about this: I agree, I don't think it would be possible to get a Dain Boar AND a Grond out of 1 mold. We'll be lucky to get a Dain with the way this line has gone, lol.
Roebuck Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 (edited) Isnt there more Arctic city sets coming? they could do with a elk/reindeer mold right? Make the antlers changeable and change the color? arctic doesent follow natural rules right? That said, thranduil riding his bor to battle, not in battle, the elves should show up before the the battle begins, and we've seen him on foot figthing in dale. Once agains tho, I would rather have perfect minifigures with new molds insetad of more animals. Yes, it is arctic city sets on the way and if we are extremely lucky they will include reindeer. If they change the antlers and the printing it is possible they can use the same mould for reindeer and elk/red deer, even though not ideal since the size is not a perfect match and they look different. However what Thranduil is riding is a now extinct species of giant deer; the Irish elk! That is a least twice the size of reindeer and elk/red deer. It is one of the largest cervids that ever lived, around the same size as the Alaskan moose and that mould can not be used on reindeer as well... Edited January 16, 2014 by Roebuck
kevkipo Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Just thinking about the $130 set And i know people said it already, but this is my tought about the set Minifigs: Bard, Bain, Kili, Fili, Bofur, Tauriel, Master/Alfrid Set: Lake town Hall with Windlance Crossbow and Spring loaded Black Arrow. Infernum Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 @ N7LEGO: That's really weird... Maybe there was a wave 2 LOTR polybag that was never put into production...?
qiadris Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 I'm going to guess it was: 30214 - Gandalf Twins - Contains 2 Gandalfs (gandalves?), because you can never have enough!

They do look pretty mucht he same expect size, color and antlers. (thranduil's elk and raindeers) Lego's scale from things is always a bit wibbely wobbely anyways.

Proximo Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Well there is another gab in Lego's numbering (set 79009). Maybe anybody here knows why Lego handle it like this? There were alot gaps in the old 4 figure system too, but i don't understand why they start with this again.
Alfadas Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 More the Hobbit sets after wave three??? Hope so, although the instruction book's last page (I believe) says that "the journey concludes in 2014". Are they referring to the movie? Or to the sets?

Deathleech Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 He is talking about the Hobbit advertisement in the 2013 Hobbit wave:
kevkipo Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 He would be an AWESOME minifigure :) Dain Ironfoot... with his dwarf army :D
BrickBob Studpants Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Umm... That's not what Dain II looks like in the movie, that picture (which is also used in the LOTR wiki) is from a card game or something (I think) Billy Connolly will portray him in TABA
