kevkipo Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Umm... That's not what Dain II looks like in the movie, that picture (which is also used in the LOTR wiki) is from a card game or something (I think) Billy Connolly will portray him in TABA Oopsy Thank GOD! i would dislike such Dain..... He seemed so ''young'' and powerful in the book :D Yeah! Someone like Thorin! i mean he is Thorin's nephew?
BrickBob Studpants Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 (edited) Yeah! Someone like Thorin! i mean he is Thorin's nephew? I think they're cousins Edit: Cousins by second degree (their grandfathers were siblings) Edited January 17, 2014 by Lego-Freak
kevkipo Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 I think they're cousins Edit: Cousins by second degree (their grandfathers were siblings) Im not sure but aren't Cousins and Nephews the same? Dont know for sure :)
deskp Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Im not sure but aren't Cousins and Nephews the same? Dont know for sure :) not at all. your nephew is your childrens cosin
BrickBob Studpants Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 (edited) Im not sure but aren't Cousins and Nephews the same? Dont know for sure :) Nope, there's a difference in generations Cousins are in the same generation, whereas nephews and their respective uncles/aunts are generationally apart Let's say your father has a brother who has children: that brother would be your uncle (and you're his nephew) and his kids would be your cousins (and you'd be their cousin). 2nd degree cousins have the same sort of relation, but instead of the parents, it's the grandparents that have siblings (i.e. your granduncles/grandaunts) Edit: Ninja'd by deskp Edited January 17, 2014 by Lego-Freak
Hammerhand Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Don't know if it's been said yet, and I apologize if I'm just repeating common knowledge, but the 2014 Hobbit set numbers are up on Brickset now (79015, 79016, 79017, 79018).
azog15 Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Do you think we'll get more details on the sets at Toy Fair?
Hammerhand Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Do you think we'll get more details on the sets at Toy Fair? I think it's likely. Although it is in February, so there is a chance that TLG will decide that's to early to release info about sets that are coming out in December (or was it October?).
deskp Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Toy fair proapbly is way too early yes. I think no info uintill comic con. The videogame will proapbly include designs that will show up in the october sets. If they do the prologue we'll get a look at the mirkwood soldier minifigures for example.
BrickBob Studpants Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 I think it's likely we'll see them at the Toy Fairs since the release date (October) is still in the summer category There's quite a few sets that were shown at the Toy Fairs despite being released in October; the 2010 Harry Potter sets and the Advent Calendars are great examples There's a difference of course, the aforementioned sets weren't based on upcoming movies, but it's not like that has ever stopped TLG from presenting such "spoilerific" sets at the Toy Fairs (Indy 4, Avengers, Iron Man 3, Man of Steel etc). I suppose we don't get to see pictures (like with Toy Story 3 e.g.), but at least we'll hopefully hear the set names
kevkipo Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Do you think we'll get more details on the sets at Toy Fair? Fives Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 No news. Until we hear more, there's really nothing to discuss. Anyway, everyone seems to be scrambling in the Future LOTR Sets thread due to the distressing lack of info.
Darth Malgus Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Seems like a potentially sad demise to what may have been a really good product from Lego, I do hope we get some more LOTR sets... Gondor is required.
texasp8 Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Pocket-Lint.com are reporting 'Also announced during the London Toy Fair convention is ... an expansion of the range dedicated to The Hobbit'. I can't find anymore details anywhere else.
BrickBob Studpants Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 (edited) @texasp8: Sounds like something might be on display there, but it's likely in a highly protected area just like the GotG sets The Brickfanatics report doesn't mention anything, but The Hobbit is not the only theme that's notably absent from their report (LEGO movie wave 2, Ninjago, Friends, Duplo). I bet more news are on the horizon The brickfanatics report has been updated (http://brickfanatics...oy-fair-report/) LotR/Hobbit There will be DLC for the game when the third movie comes out. There will be a Smaug similar-sized to the Castle dragon. The Witch King minifig glows in the dark. The Elrond fig looks like the polybag figure. The bargeman’s son comes in one of the sets (3 buildings, an addon to the Laketown Chase) So those who guessed a Lake-town set (including me) were right The small set contains the Witch-King and Elrond it seems and Smaug doesn't seem to be that big Edited January 21, 2014 by Lego-Freak

BrickBob Studpants Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 The 2nd age Elrond minifig is hopefully just a stand-in for a new one (with the red armor seen in AUJ and probably TABA). So instead of Galadriel vs Sauron it seems to be Elrond vs (ghost) Witch-King... Hopefully Galadriel is still around somewhere
Alcarin Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 So it seems yes Small set = Witch King vs Elrond Biggest set = Smaug + 3 structures of Lake Town Interesting!
BrickBob Studpants Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Argh, I just wish we could get more details Huw from brickset.com unfortunately hasn't mentioned anything yet (he hasn't even announced whether he's attending this year or not), his reports have always been very detailed

Then I dont need to spend 25-30$ for Elronds polybag.... :D

Also, why didnt they say anything about the remaining 2 sets?! Edited January 21, 2014 by deskp

Possibly.... however I expect 1 of the 3 buildings to be atleast a tad bigger with the device to fire that black arrow..... so I am expecting to have atleast 300 pieces more.... so we are talking atleast 800 pieces + dragon Sounds like the biggest set!

I agree it doesn't sound like the largest set. Unless the 3 buildings are fairly substantial. It's interesting that lake town will end up with 5 buildings. With a few extra sets and some creative bricking, could make for a very nice display.
