deskp Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Wow! That box art looks fantastic! I guess that rules out all those rumors of Smaug being included in that set. That was never a rumor. Just the talk of some ignorant people.

SMC Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 (edited) Posted by SMC on 19 July 2013 - 09:21 PM in LEGO Historic Themes So no one thinks Smaug could be in this set and they just don't want to show him now? I had to quote myself from a different topic, not easy Edited October 9, 2013 by SMC
ZCerberus Posted October 10, 2013 Author Posted October 10, 2013 Just the talk of some ignorant people. Yes, let's not call anyone ignorant please.
SMC Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 No offense taken, I think the point is it was not a rumor from a source just speculation that the set didn't look that big for £50, more hopeful than anything.
kevkipo Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 (edited) You know what i think? in the smallest set Dol Guldur Ambush there is a "Hero" type Minifigure right? Well what if that is Beorn? i mean in the book they said Beorn HATES Orc's So he will probably ambush the Orcs, then he goes back to his house and Gandalf just arrives at Dol Guldur just when Beorn leaves so he doesn't know Beorn was ever there and then Azog, Radagast and Bolg (or someone else evil) Arrive too and then we come to the Largest set! Think about it... it makes sence. Kris did the "Hero" type figure carry an Axe? or some weapon that looks like it? Anyway if we get Beorn i'll be a happy happy HAPPY man! N7LEGO Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 (edited) I know that we will have the "White Azog" in this wave but I donno in which set. Surely in the most expensive one. Edited October 13, 2013 by N7LEGO
legofreak86 Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 I know that we will have the "White Azog" in this wave but I donno in which set. Surely in the most expensive one. Yes the description that Kris said was "White orc" which it is safe to assume refers to azog especially as Lego have said a future set would include a white version of azog. Due to the information said I could see this large scale set being the classic knight's kingdom style heroes vs. villains set with a large fortress. We already know that Gandalf the grey, radagast the brown, the necromancer, azog and a regular orc are said to be included with a warrior with a big red beard and a short name. Bolg is only four letters and the description of him being taller than other minifigures is accurate to the character. So judging by what has been shown/said I reckon the basis of this set is Gandalf and radagast go to Dol Guldur to figure out the truth but walk into a trap set by the necromancer and his orcs as shown in the trailer (It's undoubtedly a trap" Gandalf claims before drawing his sword with radagast close at hand.) and an epic confrontation between wizard and orc breaks out also with the necromancer. Or maybe they go there something happens and then they return with help. Either way I reckon whilst Bilbo and the dwarves go through hell in mirkwood and the elves have their fights with orcs that the Gandalf and radagast attempt to stop the necromancer and figure out just what is going on. There we are my two cents. Either way I think this may turn out to be another popular Christmas item like goblin battle was last year as it was listed on the top 10 Christmas present list done by toysrus I think.
Fives Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 ^ I agree that Dol Guldur Battle could become one of the top selling toys this Xmas, due to the fact that it will have Radagast (a fig we've been wanting since AUJ), likely Azog (another much-needed fig), and the Necromancer (the second chief villain of DOS). Then again, the reason Bag End sold so well is because, well, it's Bag End. It makes sense that one of the most iconic locations from fantasy literature would sell like crazy during the Xmas season.
greeny Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 My dream set: Mirkwood Palace: Minifigures: Bilbo, Fili and Kili (covered in webs), 2x Mirkwood guards, Thranduil, Tauriel. The set: The palace would be a very large tan palace that is covered in trees. The back of it is open so you can access the inside. There are rooms with Thranduil's throne, prison cells and various other elf rooms. You can also connect this to the barrel escape set. Price: £70-£90.

Haven't we seen the Dol Guldur Ambush set translated as "Elrond Ambush" or "Elrond Attack" in some of the leaks? If so that might give us an idea of who might be the hero figure in the set?
deskp Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Haven't we seen the Dol Guldur Ambush set translated as "Elrond Ambush" or "Elrond Attack" in some of the leaks? If so that might give us an idea of who might be the hero figure in the set? Now we have got more reliable info it seems thats just some weirdness that comes from people not being familiar with midddle earth names that mixes up Dol Guldur and Elrond, because essentialy it's both gibberish.
DragonKnights Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 I would love to see a very large set, possibly a UCS set, of Smaug attacking the city with a few buildings and a large brick built dragon. I don't think we will see this until Dec. 2014. I'm starting to think that Smaug will survive the second film and the climax of DOS will be the battle at Dol Guldur.
saintock Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 is the azog in the upcoming set same as the one given out during SDCC?
N7LEGO Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Yes, it looks like it's the same, not white but tan. Bad news for the eBayers...
kevkipo Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Yay! i was right :D look over at http://www.thebrickfan.com/lego-the-hobbit/ they give discription and pictures for the new sets :D and Oh!... look at that! Beorn is in Dol Guldur Ambush and it looks like a cool set :D Mirkwood Elf Army: has Thandruil 2 Elf soldiers with Armor and hood and 1 Elf Warrior with hair a Brown Warg and Two Orcs 39,99 (Dollar) Dol Guldur Battle: Includes Gandalf, Radagast, The Necromancer, and a tan Azog similar to the one given out at SDCC 2013, and two Gundabad Orcs with no hair this time but with white war paint. ~$79.99 (Dollar) Looks cool right! i was "Flippin" right! :D So looks like we all have our things we wanted! Beorn, Thandruil, Brown Warg, Radagast, Bard, and Azog Sadly.... no Smaug, But have fun with staring at the Blurry pictures over at The Brickfan! Oops Messed my Comment up there... Doesn't matter you can read it :)
Lego Spy Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 (edited) Better images of the new sets. (Brickset - Flickr) From what we're seeing now, of the three, 79014 Dol Guldur Battle is by far my favorite. It appears 79011 is an add-on Dol Guldur as well. My least favorite of the bunch also has my favorite minifigure, 79012 Mirkwood Elf Army. The build looks somewhat plain and undetailed, but I think the sheer number of minifigures makes up for that. (side note for deskp: I see your new EB avatar in this set ). One question I have is about the strange ghostly apparition in 79014, any ideas who that might be? (EDIT: That's the Necromancer.) (These images aren't marked with confidential stamps, so these are allowed I believe. ) Edited October 19, 2013 by Lego Spy
saintock Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Really nice and clear pictures.... So gonna get all of them. And azog is not white at all.... Glad i dont have to spend 1k on him. I can get more than 10 of him now with 1k
deskp Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 side note for deskp: I see your new EB avatar in this set Just have to wait till we get those straigh on pictures in high quality! I am very happy we are getting Thranduil in him normal clothes. At ths point I think we should remain ourself this thread is for talking about future/potential hobbit sets. Next year I hope for a set including bits of Dale, for the TABA scenes, the vlog shows atleast part of the battle with happen there!
tahoethewhite Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Wow, I'm super excited after seeing the pictures. All 3 of them look great, and there's Radagast I'll probably be picking up all of the sets except Lake Town Chase.
Mutant Orc Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Lake town chase is one of the better ones!! Dale would be nice if they manage to boost the set appearance quality- I feel as if it deteriorated in this wave, the first wave of LOTR and Hobbit were good all 'round whereas it's only the figures in most of these sets. . It's too late for this now, I know, but Trollshaw would have been quite nice...
Legoman123 Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 I am still holding out for Radagast's house, but to be honest the chances of that happening are getting slimmer and slimmer.
kevkipo Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 I Just saw the High Quality picture's. Dol Guldur Ambush and Lake Town are still the best for me But i was hoping that i could buy them all... Not the case Because im not really a fan of Dol Guldur Battle, it looks like a Halloween Ghost House to me The only reason i would buy it would be because of Azog and (maybe) Radagast altough his hat doesn't look that detailed But overall there all pretty nice! But i heard a lot of people say things about 'Lego is only focusing on the minifig's with these sets' and i kinda agree with that (Not that it's wrong) it's just that i think they've done this with Dol Guldur Battle... They could have done so much more with that! But if im planning to buy Dol Guldur Battle Im leaving the Stickers aside, maybe it will change the look then Elf Army looks nice overall but they could have done more with the three Overall im really happy with the sets! really worth buying! P.S im making a Beorn House MOC! Soon to be uploaded on my Flickr page http://www.flickr.com/photos/77334655@N07/
Faefrost Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 I am still holding out for Radagast's house, but to be honest the chances of that happening are getting slimmer and slimmer. I think we might see one more retailer exclusive set. Maybe something in the low to mid price range like Barrel Escape and Orc Forge were. Sadly I don't think it will be a Rhosgobel set, just because that would really want a few animal molds, and I suspect that the Friends Hedgehogs might look just a bit too cute and Friendly for Middle Earth.
Mutant Orc Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Friends animals would be too darn scary for Middle Earth!! I find the Goblins nicer to behold!!! Only creatures tortured for a millennium by Morgoth would turn out like a friends animal, their eyes evidently are a production of being hidden in the dark for years!!!!
