Mutant Orc Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 (edited) The disappointment will evaporate quickly as soon as these new Elves join my collection!!! It is a shame they haven't made more polybags which are well advertised and widely available. Lake town guards, orcs and Gondorian soldiers would all be welcome... zylek Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Yeah I was disappointed in the Mirkwood Elves I got as well, I ended up buying a few different color elf hair/ears off of Bricklink to make them look better. I'm thinking of buying an extra Fili to use his hair on Eomer for a helmetless look.
Legoman123 Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 I would really like to see some extensions onto Bag End, e.g. his bedroom, living room, etc... I think that would just be amazing.
roccom22 Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 For the Hobbit I'm really hoping for some good army builders for the BoFA. It doesn't seem like TLG is doing Middle Earth army builders <$30 USD but maybe if they do something like $20 more people would buy multiple sets instead of just buying individual minifigs off sites like BL or eBay.
Blakstone Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 I do want Army Builders like Star Wars has but we have also had Mirkwood Elf Guard polybag and it seems we are getting a Laketown Guard as well. The different between polybags and the actual sets is that there are no new character designs for the polybags.
Infernum Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 (edited) Lake town guards You're wish is granted. Edited November 18, 2013 by Infernum

The different between polybags and the actual sets is that there are no new character designs for the polybags. Ya, except the polybags have spotty distribution at best. Many countries don't even have access to the polybag outside resellers which is pretty expensive ($5+ for just the minifig). And even places that DO get the polybag have them in extremely limited quanities. The TRU near me only had 10 Mirkwood Elf polybags per store and I don't think they ever restocked them after they were sold.
TheLegoDr Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 My TRU had a handful of the Elves too and I never saw them again. That was right before Black Friday last year because I went back to check completely forgetting it was Thursday (Black Friday)...shows how much I go shopping around Thanksgiving. Needless to say I saw the line of people waiting to get in and I forgot about it. I didn't care that much about them. And I agree, I like the new Mirkwood Elves significantly better. Odd that they packaged them as a copy of the Barrels elf since that isn't how they are portrayed in the movie after all.
deskp Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Odd that they packaged them as a copy of the Barrels elf since that isn't how they are portrayed in the movie after all. Those elves propably serve another purpose in the movie. Not guards.
SandMirror38 Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 ^ Same as lake-town guards, remember multiple people try to kill smaug.. AND SPOLIER WARNING....... The death of Smaug will be in film 3
Lego Spy Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 I'm calling it! The new Hobbit sets are officially on Lego.com in the U.S. to be released December 1st!
Floundie Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Too bad there seems to be no DOS exclusive on the way seeing as Orthanc was unveiled months before LOTR wave 2 sets hit shelves. I hope for next year's TABA sets we see a $200-250 set with Smaug.

That way they don't ruin what Smaug looks like before the movie has hit theaters.
Fives Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 So now that the sets our out and about (for the most part), I got to thinking about how there was so much speculation around a Bolg fig. Now that we've seen how LEGO decided to tackle the whole Beorn seeming larger issue, do people think that maybe LEGO could do a similar thing with Bolg? Perhaps combine the Azog idea (detailed jaw and nose area) with the face-in-beard concept. I think it could look stellar, and give Bolg that menacing look by having his head/beard/armour/shoulders all one big detailed piece. I'd personally love to see it happen.

Well Hed be like Azog, not like Beorn. Also we're not sure what Bolg will end up looking like in the movie anymore.
Fives Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Well Hed be like Azog, not like Beorn. Also we're not sure what Bolg will end up looking like in the movie anymore. Yeah. It'd be a shame if they change his design just because he got leaked early. I mean, it wasn't just the action figure. AUJ visual companions had his image in it, as well as the Gundabad orcs that have warranted the new orc figs. If they change the design, I'll be upset. He was the most frightening orc yet to come from these films.
Infernum Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Yeah, Bolg looked great! One mold would likely be the best way to get his signature "look".
Darth Caedus Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 That Bolg is 99% confirmed to be excised; Vlog footage reveals that Blog will look like Azog + bloodstains and ruined helmet pieces.
roccom22 Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 That Bolg is 99% confirmed to be excised; Vlog footage reveals that Blog will look like Azog + bloodstains and ruined helmet pieces. I haven't seen anything about this. Can you post/send a link?
Mr Breden Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 I think he's talking about this: I hope this isn't Bolg, the old design was much better
zylek Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 (edited) It would be interesting to know what they originally planned as the lineup for the second/last film, knowing that lineup would show which sets weren't "top tier" in the final two waves. Maybe after they announce the sets for part 3, they will tell us. Edited November 21, 2013 by zylek
Robianco Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 (edited) I picked a few of those up on BL then sold them on eBay just enough higher to make the one I kept free! I'm in agreement with pretty much everyone here and I think the one character from either trilogy I really want now is Galadriel. Surely she must appear in a Hobbit or LOTR wave. I do think they'll continue the waves through 2014 and into 2015 as the DVD release and the 6 film set will be released so they'll want something to coincide with that. Plenty more sets to go! Legoman123 Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 I just really hope we get all five wizards of middle earth.
BrickBob Studpants Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 @Legoman123: That's almost impossible as PJ doesn't have the rights to use the other two wizards (which is why they even couldn't mention their names in AUJ) or anything else apart from the LOTR and Hobbit books including the corresponding appendices. Besides, TLG can only create sets based on the PJ movies
Faefrost Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 I just really hope we get all five wizards of middle earth. New Line is expressly banned from using anything that is uniquely named or mentioned in the Silmarilion. Tolkien outright sold the movie rights to LotR and Hobbit before he died for a fixed fee. The Family is pissed because they got nothing directly from the movies (granted the movies doubled the total books sold in a span of a few years which was a huge windfall for them.). They still control the Silmarilion and aren't willing to talk. As an example the existance of 5 Wizards is mentioned in LotR, but the two blues are only named in the Silmarrilion. Hence in TUJ Gandalf can't remember their names. TLG's license is with New Line and WB not the Tolkien estate so they can only do things that more or less expressly appear on screen. So no Blue Wizards. No Tom Bombadil. No Glorfindel (or at least a named Glorfindel). etc.
