November 12, 201311 yr How the dog bone beam might look: http://www.brickshel...g_bone_beam.png ( the four outer holes could also be axle holes but that was to hard to edit ( done in blender )) I have made a picture of how I think it is used in the snowmoblie: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/jovel/Random/dogbone.png

November 13, 201311 yr Very useful to sturdily connect two perpendicular beams spaced 3 studs apart. Currently we use the 3x5 beams for that.
November 13, 201311 yr Awesome renders, Jovel! I'm guessing the hole in the center might be oriented the other way, for the axle for the steering function to pass through.
November 14, 201311 yr I was thinking tesame. But my guess is that on al 3 beams the middle hole is oriented in the other direction. Then IT would be more in lign with the 5x7 frames. But thats just a guess

November 14, 201311 yr Is there a chance that Cuusoo Land Rover (possibly in a simplified form) will appear in 2014 2H?
November 14, 201311 yr I hope a new super car or off road truck. I can think of a lot of new suspension ideas with the new arms in the snowmobile set. Steve
November 14, 201311 yr The flagships of the 2H2014 will be a super backhoe loader (with pneumatic system) and a dump truck, for me :) But one of my dream is a sort of remake of the '94 Supercar!
November 14, 201311 yr We will not get two dump trucks in one year.... Who knows... it would be nice also a garbage truck!
November 14, 201311 yr PNEUMATICS!!! Just get rid of the actuators, Lego! We need some kind of model with at least as many cylinders as 8455. I hope Lego hasn't totally dumped the idea of pneumatics, I think they're what define technic, not stupid, unrealistic actuators.

November 14, 201311 yr I really don't get the hate of linear actuators. Pneumatics are physically more realistic because it uses a fluid to fill a tube moving the piston, but linear actuators are practically more realistic because they can move accurately rather than basically on/off. An updated version of 8455 with pneumatics would be amazing though. Or even better, longer pneumatics, and a backhoe rivaling the Unimog in size!
November 14, 201311 yr YES! I know linear actuators have precise control, but the realism of a fluid moving the piston trumps that. Plus, pneumatics are more powerful. I would love to see a parts-record-setting flagship backhoe loader with longer pneumatics!

I would love to see a parts-record-setting flagship backhoe loader with longer pneumatics! Pneumatics are nice, but fluid they're not. At least not in the official sets. Theyre are very hard to control. LA's are not. Both have their place, imo Edited November 15, 201311 yr by 1974

An updated version of 8455 with pneumatics would be amazing though. Or even better, longer pneumatics, and a backhoe rivaling the Unimog in size! for that there is not enough parts beside bigger pneumatics; bucket and wheel/tire combo. If you want to make 1:12 model of backhoe you need 4 tires with 120mm diameter (because such big model should have all wheel drive) and bucket width 195mm. I agree It would be great model, but I do not believe that LEGO will make so much new parts; specially big ones due to max. part number per year limitation. I would be very happy if them make tire 81,6 X 30 R that fits wheel racing small but with pattern like Unimog tires. Idea is great.
November 15, 201311 yr I like LA better than Pneumatics. LAs are long lasting. Pneumatatics become bit of hit and miss after few years. I'm sure Cuusoo Landrover will not be released in its original form. It is too complex to be an official set. However, I am hoping that TLG might revive a proper super car (with gearbox) as they have not done so now for 2 decades!

Mobi, do not get me wrong, I have nothing against LA, just saying my opinion about possibilities for backhoe flagship. Only complain for LA is that without electromotors they are a bit slow in operation but have higher level of precision than pneumatics. My honest opinion is that LEGO showed us a way of thinking with 42008 set. Regards Igor
November 15, 201311 yr FYP. I understand why you don't like combining LA and pneumatic in the same set, but I like the idea. Not to mention if this is the first set for someone, then they get LA (both normal and mini) and pneumatics. As a kid I would have killed for such a diverse set.
