I think that was a bigger problem in the two main LA's lifting the boom of the 8043, still that made it into production, even though it could be fixed extremely easily, by just flipping a gear.

For me, technic is about interesting complex solutions, which dazzle me. Neither the front loader nor the pickup seems to deliver any of that. I'm afraid this will be the worst second half year for me since I got back from my dark age. At least I hope this is not a new trend, and we will see good complex models in the future again.

I never under stud why Lego didn't just flip the gear!

Can anyone confirm what size motor does what? I presume it's 4x4 too!

I am not really impressed - I expected something more from a licensed set. Unimog - even with it's drawbacks - was great and fresh. And this Volvo does not seem to be any better than 8265 with poorly applied PF.

Thank you Lego for making just one exciting set (42025) this year :). I can now spend money on older sets.

Yep, where's the damn Dozer! hahaha! Could be the saviour of the 2h sets.

Exactly my feelings as well, beside, that the front part of the 42030 designwise completely sticks out - in a bad way, compared with the back of the machine.

I remember the BANG effect as i saw the 8265, and another WOW during the building, everything was driven from the back, the clutch idea etc... I just don't see any interesting bits in this. It is... BIG, ok i admit there are some nice touches (green engine, openable hood...). I don't see any possibility for geniuos mechanics, like in the turret of 42009. At least all motors in the back part (maybe battery box in the front) shafts, cardans... but as i see, the motors are put closest to their duty area, simply geared through.

Still i am waiting for further infos, maybe something will change.

I found this on youtube. The WL does look nice, and apparently several motorized functions.

The one 'complaint' though is ... seems TLG is running out of ideas and revisiting old issued sets.

Looking at the video again, I am wondering if the servo motor was centered before it was installed, that may account for why steering is not returning to center, and also the some of the jerkiness in the steering movement. (I know because I did the same thing when I built 41999, had to perform servo-extractive surgery to get the motor out in order to center it properly  )

The back of the Volvo looks great, but the front looks ugly. Just ugly

And the steering.... There's a long discussion of it already, but I have to agree: it looks horrible. And if I was a kid, I would be annoyed too, since there's nothing except middle, left and right :hmpf_bad:

The pickup looks nice to me. That one looks quite interesting, although nothing groundbreaking :classic:

This is already being discussed in the 2014 topic. This will be moved.

EDIT: moved

oops, there was a two year old guy in the line of sight

and the 42030 in front of the cab much longer

On initial observations, I am a bit disappointed with the loader, but maybe things will look brighter when we get more information and pictures. Also the rear mudguards of the pickup could do with an axle pin and a red bushing to finish them off on the back angle. As has been pointed out the mirrors are not folded out. At a public event, you would at least hope that everything was right for the display

It's miserable that the 2H sets are starting to be shown and yet the 1H sets aren't slated for US launch until early summer!

1H sets are not available in Greece either....yet.. Obviously Greece is a tiny market and usually takes more than one or two months after the sets are launched in rest European countries before they reach the Greek selves..., nevertheless, it is quite frustrating...

The guys at TLC stil have a few months to tweak some things , mayby thats why it looks so messy

Does it have any suspension?

I don't think so. Certainly not in the front. Even the back that should have it doesn't seems like it does.

I didn't think that it did(or would from the time it was first hinted)

I wonder how big the dozer will be or will it possibly be pneumatic :) any reason why we haven't seen pictures yet?

Ps i really like loader it's a must buy for me,the red truck a bit boring though.
