I hope it is not. I don't like the idea of releasing these basic parts just to make the design easier. It is part of the challenge, to solve something without pieces like this.

If Lego was thinking the same way, we would still be building everything with two by fours

I don't think it's a matter of making things easier, it's opening up possibilities. New parts means that the product is evolving, which is a good thing (imho).

Agreed. They don't need to make parts for everything, but parts like the one discussed are useful.

Personally I find it really useful, but I wouldn't mind buying the one with pins on each side and cut off one if that was the only option.

I asked Lego through the Ambassador Program. :)

Any word back?

I heard a rumor, from somebody whom I consider to be a very good source, that North American may not see any of the 2014 sets. I find this very hard to believe though, and I hope he is wrong.

If this is true, then I wonder why Lego displayed some of the 2014 Technic sets at the New York Toy Fair..? Seems kind of pointless to display something that is never going to be available to that area...

The U.S. market is all about minifigures and minifigure related sets anyways...

IH 2014 sets are still listed on the LEGO website as "available August 2014", but the Technic website is notoriously slow in being updated, just keeping my fingers crossed here.

By the way, was at TRU today to get a ridiculously discounted 9396 helicopter. They now have the 42000 back in stock after being out of stock since about last October, providing a clue that Technic is still relevant to TRU retail stores. And the sales person was actually happy that I got the large 9396 off of their shelves, as they said "we need the room for more stock coming in" whatever that means.

Maybe I'll hold off on a Europe trip for a while, to see what develops...

I am going to be pissed if there is going to be no U.S. release for the 2014 Technic sets. I'm also going to be upset if we have to wait till august to get them.

Anyway, does anybody think that there will be a competition this year, and what it might be? I'd really like to see a second edition of last year's challenge.

What's really amazing is that in the beginning of December last year. I had the new parts from the 2014 sets shipped here to the U.S. from Lego before any of the new sets were even released anywhere... And now we don't even know if or when the actual sets will be released here...

I asked the store manager of one of the Chicago stores, and apparently some new sets are to be released by mid-march ... Just keeping my fingers crossed.

I think it's just gossip. Can't believe that LEGO passes by US toy market. Even in Russia this new sets are availible. But don't know will Volvo loader be availible here. Like 8110, this set was'n ofiicially available in Russia.

Yeah, I agree with you all. I just don't see LEGO passing on the NA market, and as mentioned, the models were at the NY Toy Fair. The whole thing is kinda odd, but I guess we'll have to see.

I think we're going to get them too, but I believe they still have many of the old sets that they have not sold yet, and do not want the new sets to compete with the old, or vice versa. In the US, lego prices tend to fluctuate very little ...

They'll probably show up in NA at some point in the next couple of months I would have thought; I wouldn't be surprised if The Lego Movie had some impact on what sets they distributed and where, because in the UK we still haven't got any of the Creator sets yet (though I did spot one in my local TRU yesterday). Point being, they might just be staggering the release of some waves in certain themes to try and increase sales of Movie sets, there are a lot of sets in that theme so it could well be possible they've squeezed out metaphorical shelf space for other themes.

Of course all of this is baseless conjecture and I could be barking completely up the wrong tree.

Does aynone know if the 8264 hauler was scaled to fit the 8265 loader and if it would be much too small for the 42030 loader?

That hauler looks mean :)

When are the summer sets ususally released, is it always August?

Sometimes you can get them as early as July. I can highly recommend building that hauler, it's awesome. Should be a great combo with 42030.

exactly this part in black.

Jim, Ted etc I apologize for using image on reply but only text without image requires to much head-scratching for some readers...

Wow...that's an awfully late release. I guess I'll just order them. The only things I lose are a couple of dollars and the piece count.

Does anyone know how many new models will be released in August?

I've seen two, but assume (hope!) it's more than that?

There's three (as far as I know), the Volvo loader, the 4x4 pickup and the bulldozer
