merman Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Near the battery box there is a new dark tan 5L axle with stop... Quote
davidmull Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Love it,very nice design and functionality good too :) it takes a lot to design a skip truck as it needs power to lift a skip from the ground. Quote
dokludi Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 I started the building. More pictures soon. Quote
Rishab N Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 I like this little truck. And dokludi your replica is looking nice so far! Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 I started the building. More pictures soon. I am Hungary for more..... Quote

theultimatetoa001 Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Am I the only one who thinks that the front of the 42024 looks like the front of the 42008 Service truck? Quote
OzBen Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 I started the building. More pictures soon. dokludi, you are a machine!!! LOL Looking forward to seeing your early interpretation :-) Quote
rm8 Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 I started the building. More pictures soon. Chinese lego-plagiators can hire you and release LEGO set-copies before LEGO:)) Quote
DrJB Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 That's an interesting idea ... Though, while all Lego parts are patented, the actual Lego models/sets are not ... Correct? Quote
Conchas Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 That's an interesting idea ... Though, while all Lego parts are patented, the actual Lego models/sets are not ... Correct? A design is not patentable of course, there are several other protection mechanisms and here it applies the Copyright protection. Quote
skppo Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Like the chinese give a flying moose about copyright :P I'm always amazed how people can build internal things from external pictures. I see people bashing the truck like it's the most horrid thing they've seen. I don't think it looks that bad, he skip looks a bit unprofessional though. I'm more annoyed that it is'nt anything new. We've had these sort of trucks many times already! Quote
aol000xw Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Until we know price and part count bashing it is premature. I want a picture of the airplane so badly Quote
JTS Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 For a mid-size, mid-range set I'm pleased with it. The truck looks like a mashup of the 42008 and the 8109, and the blue panels look delicious. The only thing I'm disappointed in is the skip. I think the shape and structure could have been made better with panels. Quote
Anio Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Until we know price and part count bashing it is premature. 828 parts for about 70€. Quote
AVCampos Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 I want a picture of the airplane so badly There should be a picture of it in in this very thread, a few pages ago. Quote
andythenorth Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 We've had these sort of trucks many times already! Yeah, I count at least 17 of these skip trucks on Brickset in the last 5 years. http://www.brickset.com/browse/themes/?Page=2&theme=Technic&subtheme=%7bNone%7d I'm so bored of these skip trucks. I have 12 of them, I didn't want the other 5. Lego have lost all their creativity. Seriously I won't be buying any Technic in future. What I really want is a big crane. If Lego understood their true adult Technic fans they would produce a serious model of a big crane. There haven't been any big cranes since at least 1977. Quote
Conchas Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 The more Technic sets we get every year, and these have been increasing again, the more likely we will get similar models, same vehicles in different scales etc. We have basically two type of modern trucks - European and American style ones (the first ones have been represented more often among LEGO Technic sets). The trucks or better said the cabins may have been similar, but the functions are different - Like in real life. Quote
Paul Boratko Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 I have no problem with similar models coming out as long as the build gets more advanced and new parts are introduced... Quote
Jim Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 As long as TLG brings out one or two original models a year, I am satisfied. Models like the 9396 Helicopter or the new Plane for example. Besides these models, there will always be trucks and construction equipment. Quote
AVCampos Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 as long as the build gets more advanced For you and me and certainly everyone here yes, but TLG also has to consider kids who are just getting started in Technic, the FOLT's of tomorrow. Quote
Paul Boratko Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 I really didn't mean advanced as "overly complex" but more so advanced in the ways of the new techniques and methods used in the developement of the product.... I also always consider the appearance of the models just as important as the functions within... Quote
Thirdwigg Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 For you and me and certainly everyone here yes, but TLG also has to consider kids who are just getting started in Technic, the FOLT's of tomorrow. Right. It would be interesting to know what percentage we, AFOLs, make of the Technic sales. I would suspect it is smaller, so creating sets for young people (and small budgets) should still be the priority.. A huge crane would be awesome, but the volume would not be attractive to TLG. TLG can still appease us by creating new parts. Quote
aol000xw Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 828 parts for about 70€. For the part count/functions it does not look that bad, not awesome and a bit expensive for a non PF set, but not awful. There should be a picture of it in in this very thread, a few pages ago. That wasn't a picture, it was a blurry thumbnail! I'll keep asking for an Ultimate Collector Series Technic model, with AFOLs as target. Does Lego have a clue about what % of it's technic models end in AFOLs hands? That might give a hint on chances of getting Techic AFOL sets. I guess not that many... After all Technic is not Star Wars, is pretty niche. Quote
jantjeuh Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 (edited) Don't think Technic is very suitable for UCS-size models, look at the bigger MOCs like Designer Han's hauler and Sheepo's defender.. they all start breaking down because the stress on the parts is too big. Some more added complexity without increasing the size would be nice though. Edited October 25, 2013 by jantjeuh Quote
