Someone said something about big sets beign released every now and then out of the standard cycle, that's why I ask if there is nothing big to be expected until at least 2014 2h.

It's ironic, but I think it's you who deserve the double facepalm

Woooops! I didn't catch the last "at least 2h2014?" and there is always somebody who makes the comment "these sets look so small compared to last year", so yeah, my bad :grin:

IMO the Cargo Plane is quite a big set!

With few exceptions 1300 parts is more than many flagships in the distant and recent past.

There are not that many above that value. So the conclusion is that big sets average partcount has been increasing over time.

True!

Max part count for 1H sets is mostly around 1000 pieces. The real flagship will follow in 2H. I'm very satisfied with the big plane for 1H.

I'm wondering what's inside that mini chopper, with "442 pieces"...

Hmmm now you mention it. The part count is way too high for such a small set.

The price would suggest around 150 parts.

Sets should be listed without pins'n'bushings

8855 is the king of Technic airplanes and I wonder if the new one will have as many authentic functions?

If someone still didn't find the video, ..... here it is: www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfh5-khOGWY

Bad boy! Pics are watermarked

You are right, in both accounts, furthermore part count can be misleading in regards to size. I just loved holding the mobile crane box and feeling its unusual weight.

I still don't know how TLG model cycles work, there is a pattern for bigger sets but it looks to be for odd years: 2009 Crane Truck, 2011 Unimog, 2013 Mobile Crane Mk II.

The Plane is closer -in part count, not size- to the Crawler so I am not sure if a "big model" is to be expected in 2014, be it at second half or at some arbitrary date or it won't happen until 2015. Hence my doubts.

Oh, thank you, that is the kind of answer I was looking for.

The part count of the crawler was not that high, but it had three new motors and full RC control. So it was a pretty decent flagship model (imho).

So much more ! ;)

It was not bad at all but color choice was mediocre at best and when 41999 came out it did show how much better 9398 could have been.

Thanx Anio, I hope so too

Though it takes more than an opening rear hatch to my panties wet (<-- boy, does that sound wrong?)

Can't argue with that!

1st half flagship sets

2011 - 8070 supercar - 1,281 pieces

2012 - 9397 Logging Truck - 1,308 pieces

2013 - 42000 Grand Prix Racer 1,141 pieces

I'd say the 2014 - 42025 Cargo Plane is right on par with these part wise at 1,308

Thanks for all the clarifications on the 1h/2h and flahships subect.

So the cargo plane might pose a "threat" to the 2H flagship, after all it is a non yellow, non truck-crain-etc. and not son small model. I hope that puts pressure on TLG to make an awesome 2H flagship

Its not a common 1h model, released on january, its the march model.

Previous march model was 9397, 8070, 42000. With 1300 parts, the airplane is in the standard.

I just realized that the big airplane's functions look a lot like the big Helicopter 9396 from last year. From the functions on the box it looks quite the same but with wings instead of blades.

9396 was cool so that is not a bad thing - it will also suit those who care about the scale of models ;). And also it has tones of white panels! And it is a plane!

Snow Mobile looks like a very good parts pack with the new suspension pieces and small black panels though!

I may be blind, but what is new about the suspension?

Thanx in advance, Jan

The cargo plane looks nice and well-designed, but planes ain't my cup of tea. Neither helicopters. But cool that they've brought back the flex axle, even though it looks like there's only 3 on the plane.

The snow mobile is the only model I might get from the 1H-sets.
