davidmull Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 I'd really like too see an rc+pneumatic flagship but that's not going to happen. Also will we ever get some new pneumatic parts like a valve to be able to control with a servo motor :) I'd love to see a large scale rc forklift with pneumatics too. Quote
Junpei Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 I think I've said it before, but like davidmull said, we need solenoid valves! It would make everyone's life a lot easier. Quote
JGW3000 Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 With the servo motor you can fake a solenoid valve, but it is not cost effective to use $25+ worth of parts to simulate a $2.00 part (of course both will need the same wireless receiver). Shame, as the RC transmitter already has what is essentially 8 channels, so you could in theory control eight switches with just four IR receivers. Quote
zux Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 You might not like 9398's look, but I feel it was a huge success. Fully motorized model with lots of good parts. We definatelly need something similar, like rally car now? Quote
Junpei Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 I think that's a good idea, zux. RC motors, anyone? Quote

We definatelly need something similar, like rally car now? How do you know that? Got TLG sales numbers? It's just sitting on shelves gathering dust here in Denmark. My people in the sales biz says the same. No kid really wants this. Apart from the motors, it was just regular parts I'm quite sure TLG will _not_ make a fast car with those parts. They have made many RC cars in that last 10 years. They all had special parts, some didn't even have any Technicn/system parts at all And there's a reason for that. LEGO is _not_ high performance RC. Not now, not then, not ever. Just have look at real RC vehicles and you'll find out Quote

DrJB Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 The snowmobile for $20 sounds promising ... especially with all the new parts in it. Quote

Just have look at real RC vehicles and you'll find out The reason I said it had to be a success - you have los of parts, not just PF, which can be used to build other types of vechicles. And the original set isn't bad at all (Example from Australia), our LUG had similar event - kids enjoyed controlling vechicle remotely. I could only think if these kids won't be getting 9398 now, they'll buy them later like we do with 8880 or other classics. As for RC car, I didn't really mean new motors, we saw that two L motors when geared correctly can give quite a good results and fast going car. The important thing here is you could use them on LUG's public events to show what TLG is producing and that you can buy a copy for yourself. I even have an idea for next event here - make a vechicle using motors from 9398/41999 (2*L + servo). Btw, those old RC cars without Technic or system parts are actually Technic compatible. Quote
FuzzyBallz Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 I might get the plane. Everything else looks weak. Quote
aurly Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 (Added U.S. Dollars. I hope that's overpriced compared to the Lego Store.) Yes, Lego prices are pretty high in the Netherlands. You could probably take about 25% off those dollar prices. Quote
Zerobricks Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 I hope the H2 models utilize the servo motor somehow :) A skid steer loader with servo motors used as valves for pneumatic lifting and tilting of the showel would be great. Quote
Jim Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Yes, Lego prices are pretty high in the Netherlands. You could probably take about 25% off those dollar prices. Actually I think we have one of the lowest Lego prices in the world. But you need to search a bit and find a cheap private resellers. The site mentioned is definitely not the cheapest online store. It's like the Amazon of The Netherlands. Probably best to compare euro with dollar prices, so 135 euros for the plane will be around 135 dollar. My guess is that I can find the plane for around 100 euros. Quote

I'm with u here, this sounds great, as for someone saying rc motors, don't think we will get new motors for a few more years. We really need an rc+pneumatics set!come on lego it's nearly 2014 we need to push forward with these ideas and get with the times, Technic pneumatic parts are sooo dated now we need new valves, more precise switches, and longer pneumatic cylinders. Quote
Junpei Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Sorry for a little bit off topic, but I really think those 5L axles will prove themselves worthy. I have needed them many times before and actually need them right now for a MOC. I agree with you guys, while RC motors would be great, it's a pipe dream. RC controlled pneumatics is realistic, and it sounds like a great idea! Quote
N-4K0 Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 I find a good use for the 4L axles with stop, and 5L with stop will be just as useful IMO. Quote
yepyep14u2know Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 (edited) I think/hope/would love if 2H had one of these, but with pneumatics for the supports. Granted, the size would be obnoxious, but well worth the functions! Edited December 6, 2013 by yepyep14u2know Quote
Paul B Technic Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Now that is something I would consider buying... Quote

IMHO, the retail prices will most likely be inline with the ones of the past... Meaning 10, 15, 20, 30, euro´s and so on. ;) For the US its 20% off + €/$ since there is no VAT. For the second wave, i wish there would be an RC-Receiver and RC-Remote, in my eyes thats more usefull than a new version of the existing bulky all-in-one-box. These PF-solenoid valves would also be a major breakthrough and great to have part. Quote
Junpei Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Aargh, as soon as I started building a MOC today, I need the 5L stop axles and double axle pins to continue with my project... Guess I'll have to do a complete rebuild... Quote

Guess I'll have to do a complete rebuild... It's weird, I also find myself needing more new parts, that didn't exist not long ago! Both the Recovery truck, and especially the Formula 1 car, needed lots of the new 5L thin liftarms with axle holes on the ends (especially useful for building custom wheel hubs)! Knowing new parts are coming, if I see I would need for example a 5L Axle with stop, I will probably now not be so eager to work out an alternate solution... Quote
