PhyBuilder Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 For the dozer though, one needs to add up to his cart to reach 40 Euro minimum. This for the 20% discount to be applied . Otherwise: cool prices . I'm sure the 42030 will be available for some € 160,- somewhere, later this year (in .de at least). Quote
S.I Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 That's a bit annoying, but adding any random 2euro set brings it over the total. I may stop by the store in town and see if they will just round the 39.99 up. Quote

rollermonkey Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 European sales, European sales. They must have to do some expensive re-engineering so that you Kiwis and Ozzies can build them upside down and have them still work. Quote
jantjeuh Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Nah, they just print the instructions upside down. Quote
Bricktrain Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Just as well we dont have to read them back to front too Quote
S.I Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Now that we finally have the sets released, us Yanks get to be jealous of your sales instead. buying it for the full price in US$ is still significantly cheaper than the sale price here ;( Quote
rollermonkey Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 I know... But at least you get sales... Our only real chance at a sale is the last five seconds before a set retires! Quote
Zerobricks Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 I'm happy the Yanks finally got their sets... I hope TLG wont use this "strategy" in the following years. Quote

Lakop Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 I have to say i'm impressed with the 42029 pick up truck. It's the first time i've ever bought a brand new set as soon as it's come out (wish I had bought 8258). It's a good size and reminds me of a Tamiya remote control kit. I have a Tamiya remote control truck, I must compare it in size. As someone who came out of the dark ages a couple of years ago I'm impressed with it. Much enjoyment in building it on Saturday night, was up until 2am Sunday morning, I started at 5pm with breaks in between including dinner and a few hours watching TV. The new pins will be useful and I can add the hook, which is new to me, and the string to my collection. Had string before but lost it. Am interested to hear from anyone else who has bought one of the new 2h 2014 sets. H Quote
Maaboo the Witch Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Am interested to hear from anyone else who has bought one of the new 2h 2014 sets. My local TRU got most of the 2H sets in early (bar the 42030), so I got the 42028 Bulldozer last week. I've built the Trench Digger model (took me about two hours, had to stop for dinner) and I've yet to build the 'Dozer. It's got some great parts, most of which I don't have a lot of, particularly the new diff, and the build is very enjoyable. Loads of modular steps. I also like how the two models are built to different proportions. -MB35 Quote
_Cookie_ Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Got the 42030 and 42028 for 200 euros (+5 shipping) from valuebrick.at yesterday. Don't know why, but the building time of the 42028 was more pleasing... Quote
rollermonkey Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Yours is at sale price all the time, you have nothing to complain about. I'm a full time student. Do I really have to add the fact that I'm also supporting a wife and kid and paying a mortgage at the same time? I could use a sale on the US price. Am interested to hear from anyone else who has bought one of the new 2h 2014 sets. I cashed in ALL of my VIP points, and amongst the haul is 42025. I'm trying to make the builds last though... One numbered bag a night. I just did bag 4 of the AT-AT, and the Cargo Plane is next.... And last. Quote

It wouldnt been too difficult to change the front blade structure so the blade would be able to tilt, same with the rear ripper. Quote
Doc_Brown Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 How do VIP points work when buying new sets? I brought 2 41999 so I don't know how many VIP points that gets me, havn't logged in since then! 41999 are the only sets I have ever brought from Lego shop. What is everyone's thoughts on just buying the new parts from bricklink ect? Like red panels, new bucket ect? Quote

What is everyone's thoughts on just buying the new parts from bricklink ect? Like red panels, new bucket ect? Here in the States, I get 1 VIP point for every dollar spent. 41999 gave me 199 VIP points. Not sure if the rate is the same in Australia. There are double point promotions every now and then, so if you happen to buy your 41999 sets during that time, you get more points. I assume the new parts you are talking about are the 11x3 red panels and the bucket from 42030. Your only options for those parts are either Bricklink or LEGO direct, but LEGO direct might be kinda iffy with the loader parts since it's a licensed set. That being said, I think there are a few people here that have successfully ordered parts from the loader, but back when the Unimog came out, I know a few people had trouble getting parts for it. It may just come down to who at LEGO you talk to. Edited August 10, 2014 by dhc6twinotter Quote

Then again....I could be entirely wrong Quote
jantjeuh Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 (edited) Ordering the 'new' parts directly from Lego is no problem at all. Edited August 19, 2014 by jantjeuh Quote

I had stockpiled my Tesco Clubcard vouchers for a wee bit and used the recent Clubcard Boost to double their value and almost got the 42008 for nothing. After all the vouchers had run out, I had only £2.99 left to pay. :) A few days later, I went for the 42029 and have also thoroughly enjoyed my time building it and, ahem, playing with it. I do love that the Service Truck is green! The 42029 also reminds me of the 8865 - which I still have! Edited August 24, 2014 by Inferiority Complex Quote

As for the 42029, I think I'd only get that for the Forest Skidder. Not sure it's worth £70 for a model whose instructions I'd have to download, though. Quote
