AVCampos Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 It seems they used different kind of wheels. The rims are the same as on the 8109 and the 42008, but the tyres are new, with a larger diameter. Quote
Jim Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Yup. And the tires have a more realistic profile. Like small Unimog tires. I think they are actually quite nice! Quote
jfbat Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 I don't know. I like the dumpster bit on the back, but in general it just looks too much like yet another variation on the same theme. Quote
Thirdwigg Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 It looks pretty nice. It's not clear to me, does it come with Power Functions, or is this what happens when you add the Power Pack? Quote
Jim Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 It looks pretty nice. It's not clear to me, does it come with Power Functions, or is this what happens when you add the Power Pack? It doesn't come with PF out of the box. Quote
Freekysch Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 It looks ok, too bad the front looks like the cab on 42008. It would have been very nice to be like 8109 cab. Quote
skppo Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 I'd really like lego to go back to the style where the motorization of the models was optional. Especially on models like this that has only one or two motorized functions. As a person who doesn't keep models assembled for long I just don't need that many batteryboxes. Quote

Not sure how to interpret your post, but this model does have optional PF functions. So no PF out of the box. Quote
AVCampos Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 i think this truck isn´t the major set of 2014 And you're right: the major set of 2014 (at least the first half) is the cargo plane. Quote
Seasider Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Loving the look of the Skip Truck. Definitely glad that there are some smaller non-low profile and non-off road tyres to use as these are much needed. As skppo says I actually like the idea of sets being non-powered with included instructions for adding PF if you want it. Reminds me of the old days Definitely going to purchase this ... and the Plane if it looks as good as we're expecting based on the poor image we've had so far. So how long till we know what all the sets look like ? Quote
jantjeuh Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 (edited) The cargo plane seems to look similar to 9396. I think the skip truck is OK, but I won't buy it. Great to see PF becoming optional. Edited October 24, 2013 by jantjeuh Quote
RoxYourBlox Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 (edited) How exciting! I see 5L and 15L beams in blue, the latter of which hasn't been issued in a set since 2004! Edited October 24, 2013 by RoxYourBlox Quote

peter_m Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 (edited) I need those wheels! And chains! And blue panels! [Ok, now - the rest is boring :)] Edited October 24, 2013 by peter_m Quote

Jim Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Yeah, I'm happy that it is optional. Me too I have over 10 battery boxes, and that number is still increasing. Quote

AndroTech Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Finally some pictures ...... I like the truck .... something new ..... Quote
MrNumbskull13 Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Oh great another two functioned truck... It's really awesome, I love the colours, I just think they could have crammed in some more functions. :) Quote
Ondra Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 This truck looks unprofesional, like some bad moc . Quote
D3K Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Is the cab orange or yellow? looks orange-y to me for sure! And if so, I spot some 11L beams there that aren't exactly cheap or plentiful on bricklink! Quote
rm8 Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Looks like it was made by the same designer as 42008 Quote
jantjeuh Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 (edited) Looks like it was made by the same designer as 42008 My thoughts exactly, wasn't a fan of 42008 either. Maybe a new designer who's still learning? Oh well, the blue parts are useful. Is the cab orange or yellow? looks orange-y to me for sure! LegoPanda Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 i think it looks a lot like 8052, it doesn't seem that newly designed to me Quote
Conchas Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 My thoughts exactly, wasn't a fan of 42008 either. Maybe a new designer who's still learning? Oh well, the blue parts are useful. The designer was exactly the same, but don't agree he's still learning! Well, everyone is learning everyday, but no the way you suggest... You guys, must realize that there is a big difference between what a MOC could be and what an official set should be. There are many constrains to fulfill and I guess it is not needed to list them here... Just looking to this picture, the set looks pretty good to me. :) Quote
