MikeyB Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 torso are a minor thing. two shoe box size plastic bins of leaves, flower stems, "bamboo" and other shrubs make me think Avalonia is for me! What can I say, I like green! Quote
Legonardo Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Tis true, over the last 2 years my (still small) collection has grown to suit Avalonia, heck not too long ago I bought hundreds of flower stems and bamboo leaves from Z, my collection doesn't suit nocty, but i'm looking at it as a challenge, pushing myself into new areas that i wouldn't necessarily build had i still been in avalonia. in my opinion the best way to improve and stand out as a builder is to step out of your comfort zone, try new things, even if your parts are limiting. Thats why i joined nocty over avalonia (along with me liking dark stuff, not making it first in avalonia, and the fact i'd miss my mates Z and berry too much) Quote
gedren_y Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 (edited) @ ZCerberus & MikeyB I believe Erudhalion Sansael (Gabe) of Peregrinus wore that torso first. Proof! Edited October 1, 2013 by gedren_y Quote
Rogue Angel Posted October 1, 2013 Author Posted October 1, 2013 Yeah, but Kaliphlin is a gimme, since it's from a Prince of Persia set, based in the desert. Quote
Niku Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Wow that Phoenix Guard looks even better than last time. Posting my army on process... Quote
Kerntechniker Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Welcome to our new Brother in Arms MikeyB and all of his Swords and Bows from the Phoenix Guard. I guess the first challenge should start soon and it seems that Avalonia is prepared excellent for it. Quote
ZCerberus Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 @ ZCerberus & MikeyB I believe Erudhalion Sansael (Gabe) of Peregrinus wore that torso first. Proof! That just means Gabe and Mikey belong in the dark lands. Quote
Gideon Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 @MikeyB: That Phoenix Guard surely looks like it means business! Lovely setting you put them in as well. On another note I can't decide if I think ZC's nagging about people joining "the wrong guild" is tiresome or entertaining, I still think there are a lot more to Historica than Nocturnus. And besides, why join Nocturnus when everyone probably will more or less be forced to build there soon in challenge 2:1 anyway? Quote
Rolli Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 On another note I can't decide if I think ZC's nagging about people joining "the wrong guild" is tiresome or entertaining, I still think there are a lot more to Historica than Nocturnus. And besides, why join Nocturnus when everyone probably will more or less be forced to build there soon in challenge 2:1 anyway? Yeah, same here. But it shows his dedication in a way. He just wants someone tending his daffodils with him Totally understandable, right? Quote
ZCerberus Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Nagging? . You have to understand Nocturnus had so few memebers last round and became a non-factor by challenge 4. Without making people join Nocturnus, we had to do something! I didn't want to leave Avalonia, but we had two regulators in Avalonia, and ISC decided to step back from Nocty, so one of us HAD to switch. It felt like with my challenge VI entry, I was the most logical person to take the plunge. I didn't prompt Torgar, LD or Beery to switch to the darkside, but it was so good for balance that they did and I am pleased our swagger has gotten us a few newcomers as well. You also have to understand I have personal relationships with MikeyB and deGothia. We corresponded by PM and gave feedback on MOCs for challenges so if I want to tease them a little bit about not joining Nocturnus, they know I am joking. But now that I have switched over the the better guild, the thing about Nocturnus I find really appealing was how much untapped potential it has. So many new races to develop and stylings and lighting to exploit. Even in the tribes mini-challenge we've already seen some of that potential being addressed. After you get past the swampy smell and constant darkness, it is really quite lovely here. You all should vacation in the swamplands for sure. If you guys REALLY think I am hurting Historica by teasing you tree-hugging hippies about your boring guild choice... then get over it. The Nocty's are here to make you all regret you didn't sign on the dotted line... in blood. Quote
Rolli Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 (edited) If you guys REALLY think I am hurting Historica by teasing you tree-hugging hippies about your boring guild choice... ZC, you might have got that wrong. Nobody said you're hurting Historica. You're totally right that Nocturnus needs members and by all means, if I had the time and wasn't abroad for college I would have considered doing the move to the east. Theres so much potential and that makes it interesting and kind of intimidating on the same time. But considering how much time for building I have at my hands its just not wise to change the guild as there is no time to develop a style or anything else.. Looking forward how you are going to manage to break away from your Avalonian style to a darker one that suits the muddy east with all the daffodils Edited October 1, 2013 by Rolli Quote
ZCerberus Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 With the smaller challenge categories, even in college you could have switched guilds. And Nocturnus is in the EAST. No geography in college Rolli? Quote
Derfel Cadarn Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Makes sense it me. Nocty needed a reboot and hopefully it will be more involved this time round. Nocty was tempting but funny enough, I'm not really into the Darkside. Yes my island is called the 'Dark' isle but its not what I would call dark. I won't be building black towers surrounded by skulls, vampires and zombies. It's about how and what I like to build, which is a sort of gloomy, twisted Tim Burton style. That's my thing, not dark. Still it will be interesting to see how many Nocturnians try and create the a similar look. No need to worry, Nocturnus can boast all they wish but really they just want to be like Avalonia's Dark Isle, so the're still Avalonians at heart! Lol Quote
ZCerberus Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 But DC, I have so MUCH black to use... Black towers with skulls is really just how I have to do it for a while. Plus, I have one Nocturnus MOC and it isn't just Avalonia with a darker color scheme. I went full on new styling. I think this will be my approach. Try to develop something completely different like the ol' Nocty tower. Quote
Rolli Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 With the smaller challenge categories, even in college you could have switched guilds. Yeah...no. My bricks are 1200km away from where I'm studying. Doesn't work out. Quote
Derfel Cadarn Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Sounds good Z, I do like that dark red and black colorscheme! I think you could do some great stuff with this so I look forward to seeing what you come up with. I remember you Wolf Pack tower, lots of great Nocty potential there. Black can look awesome if you can get the photography right. Quote
ZCerberus Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Yeah- black is a pain in the butt. The first build is going to be black and dark bley, though I do love dark red. Quote
kabel Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 No geography in college Rolli? yeah man, why could anyone not study Geograpyh in college? Sometimes I really wonder ... Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 yeah man, why could anyone not study Geograpyh in college? Sometimes I really wonder ... I agree! I studied it at (English) college, and then I did a geography related degree at university, and now I teach geographical field studies. Quote
ZCerberus Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 You and Kabel should be best buddies then. Geography for all!! Quote
DustyBricks Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 (edited) Lord Godfred of Ethyrion swears allegiance to Avalonia! Goh-Avalonia-Lord Godfred of Ethyrion by [DustyBricks], on Flickr Lord Godfred was originally a member of his village's guard in a rather isolated corner of the Mitgardian wilderness. After several years, Godfred yearned for more, and thus he embarked upon a journey to explore the far reaches of Historica. He rode his Great Wolf and bore his family crest of the red and white serpent throughout his travels. Two years later, he neared the end of his journey, in the great land of Avalonia. Here, he encountered the town of Ethyrion, which was plagued by an oppressive Governor. After acquainting himself with the village folk, Godfred found himself enthralled by these people and made it his responsibility to free them. With a band of villagers, Godfred overthrew the despot and was given the title of Lord of Ethyrion. Under his rule, Ethyrion flourished, becoming the a respected cultural center, known for its academy of the philosophies and magiks founded by the Druid, Gerius the Red. However, it still hosted a proud, but rather small, Ranger force led by Lord Godfred. ------------------------------------- Anyway, this is my sig fig. I look forward to building for Avalonia. Enjoy! Lord Vladivus Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Good old Baden Powell! That we shall! For starters, Mitgardia needs improving, it's nothing but ice and pine trees, whereas Nocturnus has all the action- who doesn't love good old pits of lava and volcanoes? :P Quote
