Apologies for double post.

Could someone explain what a Drow looks like and show a picture if possible. Also, what is a free build and what, if anything, must it contain. Thanks.

There was another separate discussion on Drow, but I have no idea where it is now, Gen discussion a year back?

If you check my flicker page (above) I have had Drow in a number of builds, and have a specific army of them (even though it's only 20-30)

Ahoy - I see I need to be a little noisy now.

  1. Are you still around?
Yup, check in bi-weekly or so.
  2. What are you working on?
Well, mainly BoBS stuff, but currently I am actually mostly away from my bricks, so it is mainly small vignettes and similar. However, I still have a very large build for the Trifork (the plaza) which I have taken pictures up, but need to finish the story for. The pictures aren't too good, but the best I could manage before I left my bricks. It is my biggest build ever, and includes several buildings on the main plaza of the Trifork.
  3. What is the best place to follow my work?
That would be my flickr stream, which is basically only lego.
  4. Which challenges and tasks
Hmm, let me see what I can remember.

    1. Challenges:
Book II, challenges 2-4 with reasonable success
      Frozen beyond with one entry
    2. Tasks
I believe I have done tasks 1-3, and have done quite some progress on task 4. Task four should progress further with my plaza build, and it should also kick off my task 6.

I believe that was all for now. :classic:

Hi, may I ask how many 'story years' are considered to have passed since the Avalonia guild arrived in these lands. Did the city of Albion exist before their arrival?

I read that "for two years now, the Avalonian guild has ruled..." but has more years in fact passed, since the GoH has been going for quite a while now?

Posted

I would put it between 5 to 7 years, since it was 5 years ago that Guilds of Historica was founded. However, in Avalonia's Book 1 page, which was created in 2011, it also says, "for two years now, the Avalonian guild has ruled..." Also, I'm pretty sure that Albion was built before the arrival of the Flight of Dragons since it mentions, "Though the city still thrives, peace has made the blade of Albion’s defenses dull, and the luster of the beautiful city wan. With the peace between the guilds of Historica wearing thin, Avalonia’s young leader has recalled the land’s architects and Lords to rebuild the Pearl City to its former glory." By former glory, it suggests that Albion existed before the arrival of the Avalonia guild. Hope that helps.

So, in the Sudheim Keep thread someone asked me for an explanation on my ivy. So I tought I might as well post this here.

Tutorial for wall-climbing ivy

Credit to Soccerkid6

First, I lay out a base and decide where my wall will be.

27092376815_b833d3a218_b.jpg

Then, I decide where the ivy should start. Obviously, that's at the bottom of the wall. It is important to attach it using a brick with stud, and not a headlight. The reason I did not put it totally at the bottom, is so I can add a few brushes and leave-pieces there. It gives a nice, overgrown look (I'm Avalonian, you know  ), as can be seen on the third image. There, I have also build up the wall.

27024204671_6c4eeb993f_b.jpg

After that I attach the second leave piece. This one is the most important, since it will determine the direction in wich the ivy will grow. I always try to put the leave-pieces as close to each other as possible, for the overgrown feeling. Sometimes, the brick with stud will leave a gap. You can solve this by using a headlight on it's side. Together with a 1x1 plate, this will be as high as a normal brick, but the stud sticking out will be lower.

27092376915_803758d7fb_b.jpg

Here you can see it from the front, and I have also build up the wall. But the most important thing here, and in the whole technique, is that I have used another leave-piece, overlappping the two others. This really gives the overgrown, naturally-looking feeling.

You can also use the technique of overlapping leaves to cover a step out, e.g. at your walkway. Note that I ended with an overlapping leave attached to a brick with stud and 1x1 plate.

Then build up your walkway again, and clip on another leave-piece. Do this on a brick with stud in the wall, not on the lower leaves!

During the build, I tend to use a bit more of relief in the walls (here, I tried the log-effect bricks, but I don't know wether I like them). This adds another lot of atmosphere.

When completed, you should have something looking like this:

So, I hope that helps. If there are any questions or remarks, let me know!

1. I am still around, I usually usually check in almost every day, although sometimes it drops to only once a week when I'm busy.

2. I'm working on some builds for GoH. Right now I've got a few builds going that I'm trying to finish up, one for Avalonia and one in Kaliphlin.

3. Here is my Flickr

4. I've only completed task 1 and 2 ( and I probably should update both at some point because they are way out of date). I have participated in the Mount Up mini challenge, Book II Challenge III and IV, and the Frozen Beyond mini challenge.

Hello! Well, it´s been a while since I last posted anything. (Again..)

1. Are you still around?

I´ ll try to check when I can, which unfortunately has been more less than often... The last weeks I have begun to check it more often though.

2. What are you working on?

Right now I´ m building a smaller castle to "Klossfestivalen" (Brickfestival). Before that I haven´ t built anything really since I last posted this in December last year.

3. Where is the best play to see your work?

On my Flickr.

4. What Challenges and tasks have you completed?

I don´ t think I have done any, but I´ m not quite sure, mostly (only?) posted freebuilds so far. I´ ll try to finish at least some of them when I have got more time.

I did build this watchtower a year ago, originally to continue my story but I never posted it here on EB (The story will have another continuation). Is it OK to post that MOC as "HSS Military Tower in Aronia"?
