The Maestro Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 Great to see you back legoeomer there are Minichallenges everywhere! Besides that everything has been pretty quite. There has been a steady intake of new members so expect to see some new faces. As Titus said there are some awesome builds up at the moment so you gotta go check those out. Quote
LegoEomer Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 Thanks. Do the challenges allow LDD? Quote
Arcturus24 Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 Greetings Avalonians, I was planning to enter some of the mini-challenges, and for one idea I wanted to make a couple of Avalonian characters who are members of some major or minor noble houses. I'm in Nocturnus myself, so I can't claim land in Avalonia. Is it okay if I make up some noble houses in an unspecified region of Avalonia? The characters are only for the challenge for now, but might show up later in other Nocturnus builds, and I won't be intruding too much in Avalonia (I won't be doing anything with their homes, for example). Arcturus Quote

Arcturus Go for it! Make up whatever you like about us. That's the nice thing about the guilds; the story comes first. And there is so much unclaimed land in Avalonia, or barely developed land, at least, that if you do not specify "Benoic" or "Drond's Feelds" or "Hesperia" no one will care one way or another. Heck, I'm not sure I would care even if you said they were from Hesperia, my own land, as long as they were flesh-toned elves (i.e. not yellow and not human)... Quote

Arcturus You are free to build on (the island) Hemresa if you like, there are some old "Noct" issues there, so it would fit Quote

Arcturus You have the freedom to create whatever characters and families you want, as long as you are not claiming land, or interfering with other storylines or families (unless OK'd by their creator). You can however create characters that live in the City of Albion, and build buildings there. Quote
The Maestro Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 Totally off topic but does Avalonia have seasons? I've only really seen avalonian mocs set in summer vut I would like to build one in autumn/spring. Is that ok? Quote
de Gothia Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 Sure you can maestro! Here is a build I made long time ago http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=75737 Quote

I've only really seen avalonian mocs set in summer vut I would like to build one in autumn/spring. Is that ok? It does have seasons, but they are milder than normal. You would have a couple of months of fall, and some winter months, but they have not been highlighted that much in builds. Quote
The Maestro Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 Thanks for the quick answer, even though I won't need it for a while. Can't wait to build it. Quote
en_zoo Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 hey guys, I was looking at the map because of that claiming-land issue that I left open and I was wondering: you see that big lake immediately North from Albion? those 2 rivers getting out of it, are they navigable? or can I just say they are all they way down to the see? or they simply can't be? Henjin_Quilones Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 hey guys, I was looking at the map because of that claiming-land issue that I left open and I was wondering: you see that big lake immediately North from Albion? those 2 rivers getting out of it, are they navigable? or can I just say they are all they way down to the see? or they simply can't be? Going down to the sea I am sure that the main one is navigable, and undoubtedly serves as a major artery of trade for the capital, with barges and other vessels making the trip regularly. There is always the possibility of a waterfall or rapids of some kind on smaller rivers, but a major river like that is either too large for such things or has had them removed by the inhabitants over the years (with locks/dams). So if you want a way to sail from the sea to the capital, go for it, as long as your ship does not have too deep of a draught. Quote
en_zoo Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 that's awesome. in this case I'd like to claim the land at the Western shore of that lake (does it have a name?) as shown here: http://prntscr.com/cgqvod as I mentioned, Laesonar won't be there for a while, though. oh and I don't have a name for it yet either is this possible? en_zoo Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 A name would be good, so that it can be placed on the map and identified... makes sense, I'll give it a thought then oh and thanks for all the quick info ^^ Quote
Henjin_Quilones Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 I have a new build posted, for the Nocturnus Minichallenge II: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=140196 Expect to see some of those characters in Avalonian builds from me in the future... And @en_zoo: You are welcome. Quote
TitusV Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 About the naes: I don't know a name for the lake, but I know the rivers have names already Quote
Isundir Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 I'm swamped, so I'm dead for now, if I find time I find time and if not then not soz Quote
The Maestro Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 A while ago I posted the first version of "fallen ruins". For those who are wondering how it turned out it has been redone and is now finished. Thank you to all those who gave advice, I tried to include as much as I could but don't be offended if it wasn't used. It was probably because of my lack of parts. I hereby present: Fallen ruins Fallen ruins by Jed cameron, on Flickr I am currently working on something large for Mitgardia so keep yours eyes peeled... Quote
TitusV Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 You're improving very quickly here, Maestro! Keep up the good work! Quote

Brandon Stark Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 I'm still here. I may be able to post a build in the coming week or so. Quote
Brynden Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 Brynden in his courtier's outfit, guarded by two members of his personal guard. Brynden Rogare is a knight and lord who came to his current standing through hard work rather than inheritance. The second-born son of a lord from the north of Avalonia, Brynden squired for his uncle from a young age. He participated in much of the Revolword War, and for his actions, he was knight at the age of 16. Brynden traveled to Dragonstone, where he became Commander of the Dragonport City Guard. During the Avalonian Civil War, with its Lord away fighting elsewhere, Brynden commanded the defense of Dragonstone, where he successfully repelled the attack force. Because of this, he was granted his choice of lands in the province, given the title of Lord, a seat on the Lord's Council, and allowed to found his own house. He was also betrothed to Jayne Forrester, a match he could never have gotten without his current position. Brynden dislikes the court intrigues of Albion for its dishonesty and deceit, and where many look down on him for his young age. He instead prefers to spend his time on his lands. However, with Historica in chaos as civil wars between different factions are breaking out, Brynden feels it is best to be in Albion, where he can get the latest news of the current status of Historica firsthand. However, Brynden still must adapt to the high society of Albion. I happen to know the user known here as Brandon Stark, who convinced me to join here despite my Lego collection, which is meager at best. I decided to use LDD in my builds, though I am wondering if it is allowed? If not, I can always try building something or collaborate. Also, do I have to claim land, or can I just be a vassal to one of the lords here? Thank you in advance, I am happy to be part of the guild. Quote
LegoEomer Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 Welcome to the Guilds, Brynden Rogare. I believe LDD is okay, as I have used it in many of my builds. Quote
