soccerkid6 Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 I have used baseplates for builds with irregular edges, Chillon Castle for instance: But generally, I find them most useful for large layouts with modular sections. Like John and my Nordheim and Katoren collabs. Quote
Brandon Stark Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 I apologize for the long wait time for my first build. I can't manage to find all those bricks. Is it okay for you if I build in LDD for this one? Just this one? If the answer to the first question is yes, does anybody know who to work POV-ray? Or is this not the appropriate place to ask that? Quote
Henjin_Quilones Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 LDD is fine, as many people do it, but I can't answer the second question. Quote
en_zoo Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 @Henjin_Quilones @Slegengr Thanks for the inputs, guys. At this point I just really wanna try - can't wait to get my hands back on my baseplates (and bleys..). @soccerkid6 So I assume the baseplate you used for Chillon Castle was placed on top of some normal plates, right? Brandon Stark Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 Thanks for the answers. Again, I will not be using LDD for all my builds, only when I lack the pieces. I will make sure to PM you about POV-ray. Quote
soccerkid6 Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 @en_zoo: Nope, I always use baseplates right at the bottom myself Here's a post on my website showing the build progress, link. Quote

(being trans-clear, I can't tell..) Quote
soccerkid6 Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 Yeah, the trans clear plates are over dark bley plates which I just overhung off the base plate. Most builders do something similar when putting a border on a build with a baseplate: overhang the plates 1 stud and you don't see the baseplate line. Quote

I think I did try once but I wasn't satisfied - gonna have to try again then and see how it goes ^^ Quote

soccerkid6 Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 Thanks dG, I can't wait to see it, your castles are always great! Quote
Niku Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 Expectation with mocs and prelude to challenge is almost unbearable. Cant wait any longer. Bring them already guys. Quote
The Maestro Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 (edited) My new moc (and one of my best yet in my opinion) is up. Ol' Colby's Cottage Haven't been too active recently but im busy building a whole load of mocs i've got lined up. Edited November 7, 2016 by The Maestro Quote
mlongworth Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 Please keep these great mocs coming. I will hopefully get to build this week first time in a month. Moving really sucks with Lego. But my kids have outgrown their Lego which is great for me now to just go move them today. Quote
Tyndale Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 My name is Tyndale, I have ventured far and wide and have found my guild, Avalonia! Quote
Henjin_Quilones Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 Welcome, Tyndale! You are just in time for the final chapter of Book II, which is very exciting. Make sure that you post a picture of your sigfig and, if you want to do so, claim your territory. But you have chosen wisely, coming to the best guild. Glad to have you! Quote

Have you checked with the guild leaders or the map maker(s) (Are there map makers?). Thats the only way I could think of finding them. On a totally different topic lugbulk has come up and im not sure whether to use it or not. And I don't know how it works. Some advice would be much welcomed. Thanks . Quote

The Maestro Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 (edited) Later this week... (or next week depending on if I want to rebuild a section or not ) Edited November 21, 2016 by The Maestro Quote
Grover Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 Hello all! I am new here to Eurobricks, and was interested in the GoH, particularly by Avalonia. From reading all the threads, it seems that in order to sign up, I need to: 1. Make a sig fig/name, potentially draw up a backstory. 2. Potentially choose a county on the map? Looks like the western area is magical with islands, the middle is the elven-type forest, and the east is the camelot-type castles. Is there any crossover, such as having castles in the magical islands or what not? 3. Start building. I am a little confused on this note; I can't quite tell what challenges are active or how to go about building for the guild points etc. What challenges are now active? I saw there was one in Nocturnus, but I also read that Book II was coming to a close? I am a little confused. Also, what about the free builds? Can I build any time? Thanks in advance for your help! There's a lot to take in at first! Quote
