For those of you working on the Avalonia challenge, MikeyB's build is a perfect example of what could be submitted, but it does need to be a new build.

Google Chrome has been having trouble with Shockwave today. Don't know how related that is, but it made opening Yahoo News pages difficult.

Main Page Update

I have updated the first post to include our current members as well as the current tasks and challenges. The list of Avalonian Lords includes anyone that has posted a task entry of free build entry. Simon, DeGothia, MikeyB, Wedge, HammerBro, Niku and Narbilu have all posted multiple builds and/or task entries. Kern, Penkid, Mpoh and Zach Mills have all posted at least one free build or task entry as well.

I have also listed the Resident Lords of Avalonia, whose contributions helped us win Book I.

Please let me know if you posted a free build and I missed it. Challenge entries also work - it's all about the participation, so PM if I missed you, and I will add you to the list.

I'm hoping to see a decent number of challenge entries, and there will be a more far-reaching task coming up after Christmas.

Map of Avalonia

My next big task is to get the map up to speed. Legonardo did an amazing job on the Book I map, but I have to recreate it in a separate program, so this might take me a little while.

The Order of the Dragon

With the recent departure of so many members and the influx of new members, the Order of the Dragon is considering new members for initiation. The selection process is based off of the quality of the Lord, their forces and their holdings.

hint: if you can get the first 3 tasks completed by the end of the year, it may help your chances. Of course if you're posting fantastic free builds, that works too.

With the new year, the Order anticipates it will be at full strength, and the criteria for membership in the Order of the Dragon will be much stricter.

Keep in mind that minimalistic task entries (4 figures on a plate for example) may not get full credit. There has not been a single sub-par task entry thus far, but I want to discourage throwing bricks/figs on a plate just to get an entry in. It's all about quality, not quantity.

ATTACK OF THE DROW!

With the ongoing strife in Nocturnus, many Avalonians have picked their allegiances and been sending troops and aid to their allies in the conflict. While Avalonian focus is elsewhere, the Drow of the Black Spire have seized this opportunity to strike out against Avalonia. Working from the labyrinth of caverns that stretch across Historica and beneath Avalonia, the Drow have been staging raids on small settlements and homesteads.

While Drow raids have always been a constant threat, the Drow have changed their tactics. Very few dead Avalonians have been found, instead it would seem that the Drow are enslaving the men, women and children of Avalonian to serve them in their subterranean cities. While some have chosen death over enslavement, the majority of the captured Avalonians have opted for slavery to save their loved ones.

The

raids just started in the last few days, and it appears that the Drow are using some of the ancient Dwarven tunnels that have sat long forgotten beneath us. It also appears that the Drow have brought along a contingent of Hand of Corruption soldiers to screen their raids and wreak havoc in the wake of the Drow.

The Drow raiding parties must be intercepted, or the Black Spire may see Avalonia as an apple ripe for the picking. Take up arms against the invaders and defend Avalonia!Challenge Rules:For this challenge, you must depict your Avalonian forces intercepting the Drow or the Hand of Corruption soldiers. This can be before the Drow can attack their targets, as they are trying to escape back to their caverns, or in the Dwarven tunnels. If you act quickly, you may still be able to rescue the enslaved Avalonians.

Challenge Rules

• Only Avalonians may enter this challenge.
  
• There is no size limit to this challenge, but a minimal effort must be put forth in your entry.
  
• Multiple entries are allowed.
  
• Entries should be new.
  
• A picture of your entry should be posted in this thread. If you have multiple pictures, you should create a separate post and post a link in this thread with your one picture.
  
• No clone brands are allowed, but custom pieces and decals (such as Brickarms, Brickwarriors) are allowed.
  
• There is no limit to the number of pictures you may post in your entry thread, just make sure they do not exceed 800x600.
  
• The deadline for this challenge is December 22nd anywhere in the world. There will be NO deadline extensions.
  
• The rules for this contest may be changed at any time to ensure that people follow the intent of the contest.

About the tasks: I will do the Drow challenge for sure, I have already the idea , I can't do Task I because I don't have the flags' colours, Task II is a bit difficult because my sigfig isn't a lord but maybe I can create a new one to accompany Alexander, abou Task III I'm working on it, be patient

you can get creative with the flags, i have seen people use two minifig arms (one Dk Green one Sand Green) attached to a lance and also tile peices made into a banner of sorts. As to Task II I would not get hung up on the Lord title, just post your SigFig and any of his companions or other notable characters.

The Challange

Lord Nar Bilu is prepared to take the long journey to Nocturnus. He and a company of Elves will head east by first daylight. For maybe the last time, Nar Bilu takes the opportunity to stroll around his beloved Hemresa. He loves the silence and smell of the night, deep in the forest ten minutes out of the Western Tower. As he enjoys the moment sitting on a rock, he get’s startled by a noise he doesn’t recognizes. He quietly slides his sword out of the scabbard and armed with that and nothing more than the dim light of the moon he walks towards the noise.

From a short distance he locates a Drow scout. “What the h#ll is he doing in these parts of Historica?”. Without any consideration, Nar Bilu engages into battle. Unfortunately, the scout is fast and turns out to be a mage as well. Fire ignites from his hands. Bushes, trees and even the foliage on the ground catch fire. Making the ground shake. Fortunately Nar Bilu can dodge the first blow. Full of rage he throws his sword towards the shade, hitting most vital parts, dropping the Drow to the burned ground.
