The topic should be titled "HSS Ag: Barqua Farm" or HSS Mil: Barqua Barracks

So do we change the titles of earlier builds or what?

You can not have multiple buildings in a single MOC unless each building is substantial. I could see counting Narbilu's recent Hermressa (please forgive the spelling) scene with 3 buildings as 2 different categories, but also remember that this will only work for some of the categories. There is also the option of one large MOC of your entire village, but PM me if you're considering this and we can discuss it.

You do not need to rename old builds, this is only for new builds that you post.

Is Kabel's Thorshaven build or maybe de Gothia's Albion street segments suitable examples of how "each building is substantial" could be interpreted if I were to build multiple categories in one build?

Also, is it necessary for each enter to have an interior? For example, if I were to build a large dock scene, could it be counted as substantial even though there wasn't an interior?

Sorry to add to the growing list of questions, but thanks anyway.

So I'm allowed to enter my town into this challenge although building it started before this challenge?

All in all a really great idea, although there is one thing that, from a scientific point of view, doesn't make a lot of sense. What actually differetiates urban settlements (town, city) from rural ones (hamlet, village) it the absence of agricultural production. So I think the requirements of town/city should include some sort of administrative buildings instead.

Kabel has a good point. Maybe for a city the agricultural builds can be replaced with administrative buildings or more advanced commercial builds? The same number of builds should still apply but the intermediate "levels" would not be awarded.

But this is Avalonia's project and entirely up to you to decide of course :classic:

So I have finally updated (even though I have made negative progress in terms of the quality of Legonardo's previous map) the map of Avalonia. I have changed around the rivers a bit so they all flow downstream. Pre-existing Avalonians, please take a look and see if there are any conflicts with what you had thought out for your territories. New(er) Avalonians, please lay claim to where you would like your territories to be. Remember, nothing too big though. You can't just take the whole southern chunk of Avalonia for example.

I think this should be big enough for everyone to read all the writing.

I will be making further edits to this to clean it up and make it look better.

Gideon - Thorshaven is a perfect example of a large MOC representing multiple categories. I would expect the Thorshaven MOC as it stands now to get credit for about 5 categories.

HammerBro3 - Interiors are not required for these builds.

Kabel - Agricultural production buildings (farms, ranches, orchards) will not usually be found in Hamlets, Villages, Towns or Cities, while other agricultural buildings (granaries, slaughterhouses) will be found primarily in Cities and some Towns. The Agricultural categories are included so as to show the entirety of the settlement, with it's surrounding supply included. A hamlet will generally be the focal pointing of the surrounding countryside, as a City (such as Albion) will be the focal point of the entire region (Avalonia).

With that being said, technically the agricultural building would not be found within the settlement, but they are still included in the basic requirements for 2 reasons:

1. The intent of this challenge was to try to give Guild members the opportunity to get credit for most anything they want to build as a MOC for their territory. The categories were devised with this intention.

2. The expected progression for most settlements is to qualify for Hamlet, and then move up through Village to Town to City (if it grows that large) and the requirements are built off each other, so all of the work that went in to the Village counts toward the City.

I did not include a category for Administrative buildings, which is a good idea. I might make builds in this category a requirement for Cities in addition to the 7 required for the Town.

So wait, the new map thing, does our claims before when we signed up for Book II not count? Do we have to resubmit our area that we claimed with the new map?

If you could re-delineate them or repost the same picture you posted before, I would appreciate it. The Map has not been updated at any point since Book I.

Sure! Here ya go: (mine is highlighted in yellow. Name = Marrock)

*snip*

My area (Burriium on the map) is actually called Lesser Burrium (with one 'i') as Lord Flamecius (Kerntechniker) claimed the name Burrium before I did (and before the first map was made) so it went under many people's noses. Thus his area is called 'Greater Burrium' whereas mine is 'Lesser Burrium.'

Also it is important to note that the river flowing next to Lesser Burrium provides trade from the northern regions of Avalonia (and could still technically flow downward with a quick edit). Canonically losing that river nearly destroys our economy in northern fish and tourism...

@rogue: sure, slaughterhouse in a town makes sense, a vegetable garden would too I assume. All in all this really supplies me with a lot of ideas of how what else I could be adding to Thorshaven so that it passes as port!

As for administration: maybe a townhall in a town + courthouse in a city?

I already started taking apart all my "older" projects and a Bricklink order is being shipped today.

Honoustly... I haven't slept that well for the last two days because my head is overflowing with ideas.

This is going to be awesome.

I'd hate to make anyone lose sleep over this!

I have updated the map with Mpoh, Simon and Penkid's edits. Where is Greater Burrium?

I'd hate to make anyone lose sleep over this!

I am a creative in my actual dayjob also, so I'm used to sleepless nights when I wonder around with ideas.

Burnby, in blue.

I recently chose my land, but here it is again just in case it got missed. Ferinwald, in yellow.

Where is Greater Burrium?

Originally it was here.

Due to the recent edits, that may need to change. You'll have to PM Kern about it, though.

And again, I hate to be a bother, but Burrium is still mis-spelled Burriium on the new map.

I am taking the opportunity to update the borders (in brown) of Vanhorn. I have slightly modified them to share a border with Circardia and I used the old map to make sure I didn't infringe upon any other land claims.

(The lake inside my borders is Lake Talon if it should be notated on the main map.)

Map Updated again. Please let me know if you have any problems with your territories. I made some small adjustments.

I'm still missing territories for Niku, Wedge, Balthazar, Robinson, CJ, does anyone remember where Rolli's territory was?

Will we be rationing off Antyria?

Just curious, of course

If CBB wishes to keep it, he may.

  • Author

I am still considering keeping some of the old members territories in place in case they still want to build MoCs there or switch back in Book 3 (if that is even an option). Antyria is enormous though, so I will shrink it down substantially if it remains. I'm not sure where CBB's main palace or operations were though.

I just realized that I never claimed a piece of land for my character. May I claim the island right underneath the Fairie forest and to the right of Marrock for myself? My character's region is called Ethyrion.
