@krono: I really like those pics taken on the rock, looks very err, Mitgardian I'd say!!

As if that weren't exactly the kind of scenery we have down in Kali's Garr Islands.:wink:

I made really much progress in my build so I'll put up my Bricklink order today or tomorrow. I think that when the order arrived I'll be finished with the build after one or two weeks more.

Here is my entry to Task 2:

beorthan_and_retinue.jpg

Beorthan, Lord Mayor of the Trifork rides through the wetlands with his retinue.

In front rides Tauro, a Minotaur from the lands of Nocturnus. He serves as scout to Beorthan, his senses stronger than those any of any man. He is strong, fast and silent, and fights with great fury. How he came to the Trifork, or to met Beorthan, is a mystery, and none of them seems too keen to speak of the story.

Just behind Beorthan rides his two bodyguards, the twins Marcus and Cassius. They are soldiers of Kaliphlin, well-disciplined and professional, and rarely leaves Beorthan's side. In the Trifork, they train and organise the militia. When faced with enemies, they fight defensively and well-ordered, and have trained the militia to do likewise. They came to the Trifork after being dismissed as loyal soldiers to a losing warlord. Here, they were employed to organise the defences and quickly became friends with Beorthan, sharing his quiet and composed nature.

In the back rides Brogar, marksman and military engineer from Mitgardia. He was commissoned to expand the fortifications of the Trifork as the town outgrew its original walls. For some reason, he stuck around, and started to follow Beorthan on his travels. Brogar is talkative and ever has a story to share, reminded by some thing or other on his way. He fights at distance with crossbow and throwing axes. In his workshop in the Trifork, he experiments with siege equipment and black powder, sometimes leaving his beard burnt and blackened.

Nice intro! I see our characters share some names!

Also, I just had the thought of doing a GoH cyoa once Challenge II is over. Any thoughts in how this would go over? Would anyone even be interested in participating if I did make one?

I've been having the same sort of trouble - though I was able to hit a little x in the corner where Flickr wants me to download the app, but it does want me to create a yahoo account (which I'm not going to do). So far I've had no trouble signing in, maybe they won't make the switch, but I am not too optimistic. I considered switching to ipernity, but that doesn't allow access to the BBCode, HTML, or even just the simple URL (the one that you can inclose in brackets with the letters img), without a paid account. I'll probably (if forced to by Flickr) use it, but will have to also upload my photos somewhere else that will allow me to post them here.

I had a friend recommend Imgur. I think that's the name, but he made a face when I mentioned that I use Flickr. Apparently the other site is much more streamlined, even if it doesn't have a Lego community that I've ever heard of. My Flickr is still working fine on my iPad, but I'll look for a new host if it demands a Yahoo account.

Speaking of Flickr, here's my latest upload. Any ideas on how to relate it to the GoH?

@Bregir, Great foliage and story too! For the landscaping, I think adding height with plates would make it more fluid.

@Carson, That sounds interesting, but for now, I don't think i'll be in it. I'm invested in a world of my own creation somewhat like middle-earth, but anyways, I've got a lot going on.

@Gilbert, Amazing stone, very DC like! Nice rocks as well. As a word of caution, Imgur is highly addicting. Funny, yet time spent on there is measured in hours.:tongue:

Nice story.

You have to work a bit on your landscaping. Here's a tutorial to get a bit better landscapes: http://www.classic-c...scapehowto.html

Bregir, the landscaping looks just fine to me. There's always room for improvement, but there's a lot more variety than I see in a lot of builds here, and you have done a nice job of using a wide variety of pieces. the stone path is a nice addition.

Hopefully I'll resist.

I still need to get that done...

Concerning the landscaping, I can't offer much advice since that's my weakest point. Maybe limiting the amount of colors you use in the road would help.

Gilbert, thanks for the recommendation! For the build, not everything posted in GoH has to be related to your character/their story directly; you could just make it something like "the black spire has begun to abuse their power, and is now making the peasants work as it suits them." (Not quite so succinctly, maybe, but you get the idea!)

Thank you for the guide - seems very well made - its always nice to have constructive input.

Thanks! :) They do? :O Which ones, sir? (Never intended to steal a name! :) )

Thanks, Hammerbro. There is actually a little more height in the back, than in the front, but the foilage almost hides it. And anyways, it was mainly a little setting to present my characters in. (Feedback is still nice, though! :) )

Thank you, Rogueang. I am quite happy with the path too. :)

I will be looking forward to seeing it!

And yes, maybe that would be a good idea. It is meant to be an old broken/overgrown road, so I thought a variety of stones would be fitting.

Anyways, thank you all for the feedback! I am certain GoH will give me plenty of chance to improve my landscaping skills in the time to come! ;)

Can I just say wow.

I have just spent the best part of today while chasing kids reading this whole section and looking at every picture.

I'm incredibly impressed and currently stood In front of my Lego station almost trembling with rush of thoughts ideas and anticipation to start building.

So if I may I will dive in and find my sig fig that will lead my way into this guild. I will post him (or perhaps her) ASAP and over time I hope to become a part of this guild.

Now to dive into my bricks with more enthusiasm than I have in a long time.

So I say to you all who contributed to my current state.... Thanks

Welcome! Always great to see new members in the fair region of Avalonia! After making your sig fig, you could start your time here with an entry in to Challenge II. In addition to the three tasks on the first page of the thread, there is a fourth task here and you could also start on any one of those. :classic:

Welcome Darlph! Check out the tasks in the first thread, and the ongoing Challenge set in Avalonia (which has it's own thread). If you would also like to highlight a location on the most recent map, I will be updating it soon with the recent new arrivals.
