Gideon Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Well, right now there's not one established religion, or even a predominant one from what I've seen. However, the Faith, the religion of Burnby, worships one god that has five aspects. From various builds and the discussions in the Grand Griffon there seems to be quite a few religions in Historica and so far it seems to be free for everyone to come up with their own. What are those five aspects of the Faith? I think it would be probable that many people (at least outside the Faith) mistake it for five distinct gods? Quote

Rogue Angel Posted August 26, 2014 Author Posted August 26, 2014 The foothills on the northern side of Avalonia have snow cover for a good portion of the year, and there are a few snow covered peaks in the mystic isles. There is not anything in the south of Avalonia at this point for snow, as there are no real mountains or peaks. In regards to religion for Historica in general, there is no uniform religion nor even a dominant religion. Historicans worship deities and nature aspects and mortal/undead beings and many other things depending on where you go. There are a number of widespread faiths that have spread to multiple guilds, but again, no dominant ones that account for more than a fraction of any guild. Many individual territories have established pantheons, but it is common for this to be confined to only the local regions. There is also a large number of Historicans who do not worship at all. Lord Vladivus Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 All this talk of religion makes me want to do a build to represent Shadowmere's twisted, malicious, dark and brooding patron deity. Quote
Bregir Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Can't wait to see more, Hammerhand! Task 5 really seems to have gotten people inspired. Quote

The five a aspects are said to be the Father, the Mother, the Warrior, the Maiden, and the Other. And yes it's a ver common mistake, even within the faith. Quote
-Carson Haupt- Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Are you sure you didn't mean seven? Haha, yes, that what it was based heavily on! I plan to make it more unique, it's just hard to depict without a build and all my bricks are tied up at the minute. Quote
Bregir Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 I want a Kali task 5... What's stopping you from completing it? - I guess it really works just like a freebuild for Avalonians too, apart from the fact that we have a name for it. (AKA Task 5) Quote
Gunman Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Looking good Hammerhand!!! Cant wait to see it finished. Quote

LordDan Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 guards by lorddan413, on Flickr what do you guys think of these militia. I was thinking of how to use them, possibly as a small guard for a vilage or something, but I still haven't decided what. they looked slightly professional for a small village. anyway maybe someone could think of a good use for them Quote

Maybe something as harbour guards, Kaliphlin mercenaries, trade guards, ... Quote

I was messing around with the torso from the king in knights kingdom II and I noticed the coat of arms was similar to the current castle theme. I was thinking along the same lines. I was thinking maybe former cedrian soldiers who had retired. ( because of the crown logo and stuff) And moved into a small village in avalonia and are now the town guard, or maybe honorable mercenaries hired to help a village, etc. I've already started building a moc Quote
TheRedViper Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Looking forward to seeing your task 5 Hammer! Quote
LordDan Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 texturing by lorddan413, on Flickr could someone give me advice/ feedback on my texturing so far? Quote
LordDan Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 wagon burning by lorddan413, on Flickr lord Dan's wagon was suddenly attacked by raiders, who planned to steal the materials they needed but encountered some resistance and in the fight the wagon was roasted. the raiders numbers far outnumbered the small number of guards lord Dan had, but they retreated once they saw that the wagon was destroyed and of no use to them, so lord Dan's guards managed to survive. luckily for them , they were already inside lord Dan's claimed land and didn't have far to go... Bregir Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 texturing by lorddan413, on Flickr could someone give me advice/ feedback on my texturing so far? Greetings, mylord. I really like the crenelations (?) on top of the left side of the wall. However, generally, I think the texturing is too busy, and some of the shapes doesn't make much sence. Consider that all shapes in this wall should be concievable in stone (I guess ),which has some limitations in the shapes it will take. (E.g. the grille bricks, and the 1 by 2 hinge plate on the right doesn't seem like normal stone shapes.) The odd shapes apart, the busy texturing and SNOT-work does make it look like the wall was erected in a hurry by unskilled craftsmen for quick defenses. (Something like the Kingsbridge city wall in "The pillars of the Earth".) A final note: I am very impressed how you make your SNOT-work all fit together! There are so many odd angels, but very few gaps - I could definitely learn something here! On your other posts (Yeah, I know - I wrote "final note" just above... ) I love those troops you have put together - and I am sad to hear your wagon has burst into flames - I sure hope you are not too far from a nice place to settle, and that you didn't lose too many vital supplies! At your service, Ser Beorthan, Lord Mayor of the Trifork Quote
Bregir Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 Greetings, proud Avalonians. I've got a couple of freebuilds underway for Task 4. LordDan Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 for task 5 is it important to have living area, for the sigfig, or could it be strictly military? Quote
MiloNelsiano Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Hello, I'm not a big poster here on eurobricks, but have always been more of a lurker, at times even lurking in GoH. Several times now I have considered joining, but have not yet for several different reasons, especially being overwhelmed and confused by everthing (I still am quite a bit). Long story short, I've decided to give it a try, and have chosen Avalonia, as it seems to be most like my building style. I am currently waiting on a bricklink order so I can build an appropriate Avalonian banner. I will post a picture of my sigfig when that order arrives. In the meantime, I am hoping to clear up a few questions regarding tasks/free builds/Phase I-III builds. From what I've (quite possibly falsely) gathered, tasks 1, 2, 3, and 5 are posted in this discussion. Task 4 is posted in the General GoH area and then linked in the Task 4 discussion. Can everything that is not part of the main challenge may be registered in the free build discussion? How exactly do the Phase I-III builds work? Can they be the same as Task 4 builds? I'm pretty sure I found a discussion to post links to your Phase I-III builds once, but I haven't been able to find it again. I realize all of this is probably clearly written somewhere, but I'm having an awfully difficult time finding and understanding it all at once. Any Information you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Quote
