Posted August 18, 201311 yr Hi guys, newbie here showcasing my first MOC. Having just recently come of my dark ages with the release of LOTR Lego (as a kid I ended with Lego with Aquazone back in 1997), I thought I would have a go at recreating the final boss fight of the excellent, but bug ridden game War in the North. I know there are lot of Tolkien fans on the site who would dismiss War in the North, but I personally like to include it as part of the PJ film canon. Anyway for people not in the know War in the North stars three new characters, a new fellowship so to speak as they go off to fight Agandaur, Sauron's right hand man in the North who bears a resemblance to the Mouth of Sauron. As stated this was my first build in coming on 15 years and was actually made only using the parts of all the Hobbit lego (aside from the minifigs. Anyway, comments suggestions etc. (I ran out of grey bits btw!) First up is Eradan - Ranger of the North and the Aragon of the game. As with this game there are a plethora of clothing options, here I selected his hooded guise. Next is Andriel - Elf loremaster of Rivendell. A female elf who casts healing domes from her staff. Finally is Farin - Champion Dwarf of Erebor and my personally favourite. trying to differentiate him from Gimli is quite hard side from the black beard. I may add Gimli's helmet when I obtain a spare, for now he sports the "Evil Dward CMF" helmet. The main baddie - Agandaur - Sauron's right hand man in the North. Using the helmet of MoS and the lone ranger head and urak-hai body and 2 sided cape. I really like how this turned out. So that's the minifigs below are the "set" that they would come in - the citadel of Carn Dum where the final boss takes place. it's not quite the whole scene just Agandaur's balcony and then the long pathway to the citadel. I added a rock feature which conceals a barrel which stores weaponry to mimic the stores of items that players "loot" throughout the game. Any comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks!
August 18, 201311 yr Nice! I like the way you used rocks, and it is all very detailed! I love the figs! But it could be a bit wider, it seems the figs don't have much space, that's the only thing is, IMO, a "bad" thing. Keep the MOCs coming!
August 18, 201311 yr Author This looks like it could be an official set !! that was kind of my approach. I mean some of the MOCs on the site are truly sensational the details are mind boggling. Im not that skilled, or have the pieces, so a minimalistic approach (and lack of pieces) worked quite well. @jeroenaa - yes it is a bit thin, something I can work on!
August 18, 201311 yr Especially like the Elf, very cool figs. I agree this game should be (spiritually, at least), part of the PJ canon :) Very nice MOC, any chance we'll see any more from this game? I made a Fornost once but broke it up before pictures! The rocks look very much like to ones in official sets, but with your own twist. Good job!
August 18, 201311 yr Author it shouldn't be too difficult to create a good scene from Mirkwood using an a MOD of Shelob the spider to create Saenathra with the smaller spiders from the Hobbit set as her minions. Plus when Radagast is released that can be used to complete the set. Also with the ability to tour around Bree, a good scene could be created there too as well as Nordinbad. I did email TLG about war in the north sets, came back with the standard email response and I feel the games a bit out of date now for this to be considered, but you never know!
August 18, 201311 yr This is pretty good for your first MOC. You might would want to align the base underneath the tan plates so you don't get a lot of hang over. However, that being said, it does give it more of an uneven, rocky look that fits in well with the rest of the MOC. Keep it up
August 19, 201311 yr I love War in the North! I mostly played with Eradan, and I like your version - and the whole build.
September 13, 20159 yr Author Rather than make a new thread I thought I would resurrect my first MOC page for LOTR War in the North As much as I liked the creation it was taking up a lot of valuable room and therefore I decided to make a micro MOC of Carn Dum Citadel or Ilya Nazarov as its also known. Here is the inspiration picture: Here is the micro moc. the characters and new stand. I added the One Ring and a barrel to represent the hoarding that goes on in the game. September 14, 20159 yr I like them, but if I may give some suggestions, only post a few pics like 3 to 6 maximum in your thread and keep the rest packed together in Flickr (highly recommended service) with a link to your Flickr to see more pictures, because when I just entered the thread I lagged like crazy for a while due to overwhelming amount of 16 pics you had posted here. edit* Also when you use Flickr you can choose what size to use for your threads, I recommend staying at 800x800 maximum as higher pics are too large and can cause lag for some people as well Edited September 14, 20159 yr by Isundir
September 15, 20159 yr Very nice work I love the minifigures you created and the micro-moc looks great, too.
