Dragonfire Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 While Sir Berelan is away searching for the mystical Valkyrie Springs, his best friend Sir Avrel of Stormhold has offered to join Paulos MacLean in his quest for the Golden Spear in Berelan's place. Avrel has sent two of his best men to scout ahead for Paulos during his travels to Eastgate. They have come upon some orcs in the ruins of a Kaliphlin watchtower attacking a lone soldier of Kaliphlin. After killing one of the orcs and chasing the rest away, the Kaliphlinite tells the two soldiers that he was exiled from Eastgate for standing up to Petera and that the band of orcs had been hired by Petera to kill him. One of the Golden Crowns scans the horizon for any signs of danger while his companion tends to the Kaliphlin soldier's wounds. Quote
Maxim I Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 So much action in such a small MOC!!! Awesome Quote
Captain Settle Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Nice ruined look in this MOC. I agree, the minifigure posing is excellent. Quote
Gideon Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Very good use of that limited base! A word of advice regarding the photography, don't be afraid to back away the camera a bit and zoom (or crop the pictures afterwards). But most importantly, try to get the whole MOC in the picture (if you are not doing close-up shots of details). Quote
SkaForHire Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Nice, small, and packed vignette! The posing is good, and the story is good. I agree with the photography comments, a little more light and at least one shot with the whole MOC, clear and free in the center, would do wonders for presentation. Otherwise, great job! Quote
soccerkid6 Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Nice little ruined tower and I like the bits of foliage Nice use of the 'boxer' face too Quote
Dragonfire Posted September 2, 2013 Author Posted September 2, 2013 Thanks for the feedback guys! I agree that my photography skills need improving. @Captain BeerBeard: read the Raising the Dead topic for it to make sense. Quote
de Gothia Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 A nice moc for sure! I loved the runed feel to it! As I´ve said to many others now, you have to improve your photos. Bad lightning, shadows etc. Try to get outside in the shadow and take your pics! Quote
Captain BeerBeard Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 The thing I don't get is why nobody offers any criticism or advice. The whole GoH project is a failure in this aspect. It was supposed to be about improvement. It really just turned out to be snob fest competition where people only advise builders to favor their team. I don't want to be one of those people. I hope this GoH trend can change. It's really been pushing me away to be honest. This is a very competitive forum, maybe that's how it has to be. I don't know. Quote

I agree, I think we should emphasize constructive criticism in the comments to continuously lift the level of the whole GoH project. Seeing how many builders have improved during their time here is encouraging! Too much competition will as you say push some people away, and I think also sometimes make people push out rushed builds (at least it has made me do that sometimes). Some measure of competition is however a good thing in my opinion too keep people pushing their limits further But this probably is a discussion for another thread. Quote
