jonwil Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Is that a new printing on the bottle? Nope, its the same ship-in-a-bottle printing from before. Quote
Alcarin Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Nope, its the same ship-in-a-bottle printing from before. ah ok thanks... can someone tell in which sets we got that map + bottle ? Quote
KristofBD Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Interesting. I like the use of the monster fighter heads - they fit well. The twin pirates are ok I guess. The lack of weapons is a shame though, but all in all it is not a bad set. And it is good to see the 'return' of the pirates theme. Quote
Holodoc Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 I severely doubt this set will include the gold bar in chrome. Although it' s shown on the box. Quote
David Thomsen Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Are we sure those are Monster Fighter heads? I didn't collect that range, but it seem to me these heads are different... Quote
Mutant Orc Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 The top two I think are- at least the captains- It's a good head I have it. The bottom two are from Ninjago I believe- Cole and Jay/Zane (not sure on that last one) Quote
baron Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 anyone else spot these at their lego stores? Quote
Meiko Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Does it have a set number anywhere on the back or something? I'm curious about it; maybe more pics are available in LEGO's cache. Quote
Amset-Rah Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Are we sure those are Monster Fighter heads? I didn't collect that range, but it seem to me these heads are different... Are we sure those are Monster Fighter heads? I didn't collect that range, but it seem to me these heads are different... Yep, they're Monster Fighter heads all right. Redbeard is Jack McHammer and the lady pirate is Anne Lee. I also recognize Cole from Ninjago in there as one of the pirate twins. Anyway, interesting little fig pack to say the least. I'm not sure if this marks the beginnings of a new pirate theme or not, since the monster minifig pack came out around the same time as Monster Fighters, but then again the rock band pack was more of a one-off, reusing CMF figures that are recolored, but I digress. I think this is just a one off generic minifig pack as a way to market off the spare pieces from MF and such. However I may be eating my words if a new pirate theme does surface. Quote
Mutant Orc Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 I would love one next year, although I'm still struggling to afford all of this year's sets!! Quote
ManInATopHat Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 This is awesome! I could use some more scurvy crew for my ship, The Red Fox, under the command of good ol' Cap'n Fox. Will these be available in all Lego stores, or is this more of an exclusive/hard to find thing? Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Wow, how... unexpected! It's a bit uninspiring, especially the two generic pirates being the same... Still, good that they're keeping an interest going. Indeed. It's worth noting the three previous comparable minifigure + accessory packs - the beach party one, the rock band and the Halloween / Monster Fighters one - included three minifigures apiece, whereas this one has four. Even if the second striped-shirted pirate is rather redundant, it's still more arguably more generous than the three figures (excluding single-piece animals and such) of each of the other three. The tradeoff seems to be that this one comes with less in the way of additional parts to build the little scenic accessory items, but that's not a huge knock (certainly it's easy enough to find basic bricks and whatnot). I severely doubt this set will include the gold bar in chrome. Although it' s shown on the box. I'd bet it does indeed include the chrome gold bars. Quote
baron Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 this one differs with the other packs in that in contains no CMFs however. The other three were basically variations of CMFs, with the exception of the ghost in the Halloween one. Quote

The other three were basically variations of CMFs, with the exception of the ghost in the Halloween one. Well, each of the three is its own thing. The beach one has three minifigures exactly as they appear in the Minifigures ("CMF") line, the rock band one has three variations on them (using the prints / designs from the CMFs, but with different colors and a head swap or two), and the monsters one uses one of the "CMF" minifigures exactly as it had appeared there and another with different colors, alongside a third minifigure completely different from anything in the CMF line. TLG probably doesn't think of these packs as specifically representing the Minifigures ("CMF") line anyway; they're all just LEGO. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted August 26, 2013 Governor Posted August 26, 2013 I severely doubt this set will include the gold bar in chrome. Although it' s shown on the box. There are also palm leaves show on the box (or packaging) but they don't appear to present elsewhere. Quote
just2good Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 (edited) There are also palm leaves show on the box (or packaging) but they don't appear to present elsewhere. I think that along with the gold bar is in the bottom of the packaging, covered by a label probably in a normal plastic piece bag. Edited August 26, 2013 by just2good Quote
TeufelHund Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 I think next year is the 25th Anniversary of Lego Pirates, so it would be nice to see something to commemorate....however this pack just looks like a bunch of spare parts thrown together. It isn't even labelled "Pirates" (a new logo might better indicate a new theme incoming) and there are no new heads/torsos to get excited about. I think I'll hold my fire on this one...but I guess if you're looking for a crab, parrot, old school map or non-CMF Pirate Captain it isn't a terrible place to start. Quote
Niku Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Is good to have a set for pirates even a small one, I will pass on this one as I do not find it appealing. I would have prefered as other already wrote some imperial soldiers. I hope also for the 25th anniversary some ship like the IFS. Quote
Bricknblue Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 25 years next year... nice start to a birthday theme... hint hint LEGO... Quote
jonwil Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 This Flikr gallery http://www.flickr.com/photos/10981478@N04/sets/72157635193668888/with/9574278133/ shows more pictures of the set including the instructions parts-list and the fact that yes it does include the gold bar and palm leaves. Quote
Faefrost Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 ah ok thanks... can someone tell in which sets we got that map + bottle ? The bottle with the ship came from the PotC 4191 "Captain's Cabin" set. I think it also showed up in the 10228 Haunted House. Quote
Huntleyfx Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Thinking very hard about this, but I think I will hold off pulling the trigger on this. There are too many repeats of old parts for my tastes. Quote
Alcarin Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 So everything is inside... things i would buy the pack for are: - map - bottle - female hair - coins + gold chrome bar Not sure if its worth it Quote
Alfadas Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Someone asked for the set number, according to brickset.com, the set number is 859839. Quote
