CMP Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 What I've noticed is the pre-CAT heroica is older, more gender balanced and much more multicultural/mutlispecied than the newer iteration. And unless every AC and EC started as rogues (where possible) it much more class balanced too. Well, one person created every single hero, it's a lot easier to balance things when that's the case.
Kadabra Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 I was under the impression that the Dragonlord got his Dragoon skills directly from Dastan, not from the Shadeaux. This idea is reinforced by the only Dragoon in CAT (U'Dargan) being a U'kin, a species that hails primarily from Dastan. I fully plan (and, actually, request) that when the game is over, I'd like to see the bios for every character involved. I have a couple of NPCs coming up who have experience with these pre-Purge Heroes, so I'd like to tie in when and how I can. Khary's already up on my About Me, however I also took some of Scorpiox's roleplaying and ran with it to add more. But most of it is the bio from my role PM, and it should be easy to pick out what was added. I also sort of wonder what would happen if the Nephilim win, as Heroica obviously isn't destroyed.
CMP Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 I also sort of wonder what would happen if the Nephilim win, as Heroica obviously isn't destroyed. Maybe a Quest goes up in modern Heroica to hunt down Lucifuge?
Kadabra Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Maybe a Quest goes up in modern Heroica to hunt down Lucifuge? Well if they win wouldn't Heroica have been destroyed, and all the Veterans dead?
Kintobor Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Well if they win wouldn't Heroica have been destroyed, and all the Veterans dead? Not necessarily. There's a reason not a single person was in the hall prior to Atramor's entrance, because everyone either left, or died. The Dragon Lord said to prepare a contingency plan in case their original idea didn't work. It does make sense.
Flipz Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 I also sort of wonder what would happen if the Nephilim win, as Heroica obviously isn't destroyed. I was trying to find a video of the Harryhausen's decontamination scene from Monsters Inc., but the internet has failed me.

This idea is reinforced by the only Dragoon in CAT (U'Dargan) being a U'kin, a species that hails primarily from Dastan. If you read Quest 44, it reveals the Dragonlord is a descendant of the original veteran, the Golden Dragon, so actually his skills are passed down his family, most likely.

Exactly...the Golden Dragon hailed from Dastan. I wonder, though--does that mean that the Shadeaux (who are originally from Charis as far as we know) has and even more ancient connection with the Dastan Empire? Hmm...time to re-read that Quest where we first met Count Shadeaux...
Palathadric Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Not necessarily. There's a reason not a single person was in the hall prior to Atramor's entrance, because everyone either left, or died. I don't think I've seen any of them since then.
Flare Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Actually I noticed quite a few people in the hall when Atramor arrived. I don't think I've seen any of them since then. Mirages, perhaps
LordoftheNoobs Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Maybe they were hobos using the empty hall as a shelter?
Scorpiox Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Not necessarily. There's a reason not a single person was in the hall prior to Atramor's entrance, because everyone either left, or died. The Dragon Lord said to prepare a contingency plan in case their original idea didn't work. It does make sense. I'm pretty sure that if all good heroes are killed and the Nephilim are victorious, the remaining veterans will engage in some ridiculous badarsery and annihilate the remaining goons without breaking a sweat.
CMP Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 (edited) Mirages, perhaps Alcohol-induced hallucinations is more likely. At the time this event wan't even heard of (outside of maybe the Test Questers?). Actually, I never even knew it happened until the First Anniversary Lottery. Edited September 4, 2013 by CallMePie

(edited slightly) I think thats going to happen in both cases Alcohol-induced hallucinations is more likely. At the time this event wan't even heard of (outside of maybe the Test Questers?). Actually, I never even knew it happened until the First Anniversary Lottery. True
Rumble Strike Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Echoing Chromeknight's point, I would also like to say how fantastic the characters are in their diversity, bringing in some player-created races along with other QM-invented ones. Really nice to see, especially with Sandy's lovely pics. The Veterans and Heroica Hall are getting a real showing off too.
Pandora Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Actually I noticed quite a few people in the hall when Atramor arrived. I don't think I've seen any of them since then. There were six people in the hall when Atramor arrived, but only three of them have been seen to continue to quest for Heroica. I think those three have been prominent enough on various quest to be remembered, surely?

If he dies, I want an undead Scamander Taurros.
Pandora Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 He means the figures in Atramor's introductory pictures. Maybe I should have replied to this instead: There's a reason not a single person was in the hall prior to Atramor's entrance, because everyone either left, or died. As it was that sentiment I was actually replying to.
Flipz Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Question: is it everyone who correctly answers the riddle that gets experience, or just the first one?
Sandy Posted September 4, 2013 Author Posted September 4, 2013 Question: is it everyone who correctly answers the riddle that gets experience, or just the first one? Everyone who gets their answer right gets the reward. On Day Two, Palathadric was the only one to get it right.
Waterbrick Down Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Everyone who gets their answer right gets the reward. On Day Two, Palathadric was the only one to get it right. On time.
Sandy Posted September 4, 2013 Author Posted September 4, 2013 As Flipz pointed out, there was a mistake in Byblos's second challenge. It has now been fixed.
Pyrovisionary Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 I would Like to thank you Lord Duvors.
Palathadric Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Well if they win wouldn't Heroica have been destroyed, and all the Veterans dead? Really. I thought the purpose was that the nephilim would kill off all the heroes as that's why there were no more heroes later on. I figured Sandy had balanced it in their favour, but maybe I am wrong, which gives me a new hope.
Duvors Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Well if they win wouldn't Heroica have been destroyed, and all the Veterans dead? I think that everyone but the Veterans will die anyway.
