For me I'll be using the gray or black..It doesn't make a difference

For a perfectionist it does make a difference ;)

I noticed that some MOC'ers love to use outdated/very hard to find parts in their MOCs, like 19L black soft axles, black bushings, etc. (especially for supercar MOCs). I guess you have to flexible :D

What function does each of the RC levers do? Obviously the steering is easy to work out.

Jurgen is the remote the same as the one for the pf backhoe ver 2. If so I already have it built.

Be patient, he's a busy man. Lot's of MOCs and music to create .. and probaly some tedious day job to boot

Those yellow parts are not super important, imho .. use black or grey

MOC'ers can use any obscure part as they please. It's nice that some make plans, but I would not want them to alter a topnotch MOC just so it uses more common parts. It's up to _uyou_ to decide if those parts are important or not

This will be my first build using other peoples plans. Quite looking forward to it as the 42009 is somewhat of a crap build as it is

You misunderstood me. I wasn't complaining, just pointing out that if you want to rebuild most MOC's 100% correctly, you'd better have a large parts collection. In no way am I suggesting that MOC'ers should restrict themselves to only using common parts! That would be ridiculous, obviously.

By the way, I got four yellow 32184's for cheap thanks to a certain very nice Eurobricks member! The inner perfectionist in me rejoices :D

When building MOC's hat will have instructions I try to avoid really rare parts as much as possible. Didn't know the 32184 is rare in yellow.

Another part goes to the black list.

Yes, you can use the remote for the Backhoe V2.

Zorex and Backhoe also have some very rare parts ;-) But that's ok, you can always work around it.

To everyone (and Jurgen): I found an error in the .bsx file containing all the extra parts: the 60656 PF Extension Wire 20cm has the color "Black", which doesn't exist on Bricklink. It should be Dark Bluish Gray (DBG).

Anyway, my 42009 will arrive tomorrow and I will first build the normal set. But after a few weeks of display, I will definitely make the full PF version. I can't wait!

I tore down the original 42009 almost immediately before building the ultimate 42009, the original is that disappointing imo.

Anyone here able to get the instruction of the crane arm?

I've sent him an email yesterday, so I wait for response. At the moment I'm building the Ultimate 42009, but I've stopped, I still need the motors for my Logging Truck until I will finish the instructions.

Some note for the 42009: Be careful to make the outtrigger gears in exact position shown in the instructions, otherwise the outtrigers don't work, one foot goes down, and the other goes up.

It seems there are some parts shown twice in the part list, I'll rewiev the instructions again and take notes of the steps which are not very clear.

I am currently building this excellent model, and have one question. Did you consider using an L-motor for lifting/lowering the outriggers? Because it seems like it would fit easily without any changes, and now it is capable of lifting it self when you put something under the outriggers. And at tips for those who does not have the rare extension wires, like me, it seems like you very well can use the not so rare cables with a switch that came with for ex. 8258. But this was probably obvious for most of you...

Using an L-Motor for lowering the outriggers is possible but not necessary res. an efficient use of PF-Parts.

The M-Motor has enough power to power to outriggers. If your intension is that a L-Motor would have to power to lift the model - the limiting factor is the strength of the outriggers itself. They bent under to load of the crane to such an extend, one could fear to do some damage the the stressed parts.

However, if you have an idea for reinforced outriggers ... That'd be cool.

I built this model over the last few weeks and it was a lot of fun. I am also looking for information on which function each RC receiver should be linked to. Other than the steering wheel I can't seem to find a comfortable mix. If anyone has suggestions please let me know.

The advice about being very careful with the outrigger gears is great. I put one on backwards, but luckily I noticed it early in the build and was able to correct it without having to do much of a teardown.

One other bit of advice for anyone building it -- the la's on the outrigger don't have any have a clutch gear so if you try to over extend or retract the la's lots of stuff bends. I did not notice this until I was too far along, but it looks like it would have been easy enough to add a clutch gear to this part of the build to solve that problem.

I've just discovered New Technics Lego since a break for about 18 years or so.

Power functions didn't exist in my building days so this is a whole new world for me!

But one thing is for sure, I just have to build your creations!
