Posted August 25, 201311 yr I know they did some Lego sports years back, but wonder if there isn't a case to be made with this again. I was able to pick up the 2012 Olympics set recently and wondered if there would be a market for teams such as US baseball (they already do lame baseball in a Lego copied style, they look horrible), soccer/football, US football, Australian football, Rugby, etc. Sorry if this topic was already done, put it in special themes as I think it is more of a unique theme with the teams instead of a town type of view. I know there are also specific companies out there that build stadiums out of bricks as well. Kubrik for one and I think Sean Kenney did some as well. Likely a US based target more than anything, but do not see why they couldn't do teams and stadiums in Europe and around the world as well. Anyone know anything on this? August 25, 201311 yr Apologies for not being able to answer your question, but what 2012 Olympics set?
August 25, 201311 yr Think he means the olympic minifigs. As for new sport sets, don't think they were terribly successful last time (Soccer Football & Basketball sets) so can't see them trying it again for a while
August 25, 201311 yr Author there was a special set of minifigures put out for the 2012 London Olympics, it was a tennis player, weightlifter, etc representing the British team This is not my pic, but one I took off of ebay: I have since researched this a bit and I see how Lego really did a lot, esp in basketball with certain players and such...maybe what I think would be good for TLG to do is specific stadiums from around the world in its Architecture line vs my idea of sports overall. Several great stadiums that could be built from around the world. Yes, this was during my dark age as they say, so have sort of come to the conclusion it would have to be great stadiums from around the world...Thego, I was referring to baseball stadiums when I stated the US part...I do not know of too many baseball stadiums that are famous other than a couple in Japan.
