BrickCurve Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 (edited) Oh how I miss building for Kaliphlin. I plan on building again, but i just don't have the motivation. Could someone fill me in on some of the things that have gone on since I left? Hope to build soon, ~TheUtilityBelt32 Great to have you back in Kaliphlin! When exactly do you need a recap from? Maxim asked for one a while back, and I am pretty sure that it covers everything to date. The desert kings challenge was pretty much a call from the self styled king of Kaliphlin for soldiers to gather in Petraea. There was also the faction that opposes the Desert king, so the High Council and Ulandus, (I think thats how you spell it?) That were sabotaging the desert kings efforts. For you challenge Ska, I opposed the DK: You don't ambush an ally! @Maxim: so, I onl recently joined so I may be in no position to tell y-things right, but I'll still try to and someone else should correct me if I'm wrong: The barkeeper sighs, put the glass he was cleaining back on the shelf, and sits down on a stool after signing the servants to bring some good wine. Then he starts telling, and his loud voice oulls you totally in: "So. You want to know what happened to our beloved Kaliphlin, do you? Sit down, since it'll take some time! Some months ago, strange rumours started flooding in. They could generally be divided into two sorts: from the west, and the east. The rumours of the west spoke of an island re-risen of the seas, and was mostly brought by drunken sailors, while the rumours of the east spoke of an old King come back to live. All the more horrifying, both rumours proved to be true. And both the old king, soon called the Desert King, and the inhabitants of the western isle claimed the throne. Our good High Council of course didn't want to cede, so there we went. For the first time after the Revolword Saga, dear Kaliphlin was pulled back into war. But it wa snot only Kaliphlin against Kaliphlin: no, people from all over the guilds came to fight for their chosen ruler. It was the hell, M'Lord. Brother fought against brother, nephew against nephew. And while the war dragged on, since no side was strong enough to claim final victory,, treasures burnt out. So it happened that the soldiers were no longer paid, and had to feed themselves of the land. It was a disaster for the peasant and common, M'Lord. War exhaustion sky rocketed, and the hunger to peace grow everyday. Due to the pressure of the tired people, the three sides agreed on a truce. At the moment, the Desert King rules most of this land, while the High Council still is not defeated and even Ulandus controls some pockets of resistance. While tension are so high, the Desert King now has called all his faithfull followers to arms. No-one knows what he is planning, but be ensured no good can come from it." And here is the original post for the Desert Kings challenge. The winners haven't been announced yet, unless I somehow managed to miss it, which wouldn't be a first. To be cried from every hamlet in Kaliphlin and beyond: His Great Lord and Pharaoh, King of all Kaliphlin, Master of Historica, and Protector of the Ancient Power, the Desert King Ark'Mora Raa has declared formally: All loyal captains come to Sultan's Gate, show your support for your liege. By March 31st, the Desert King expects his troops to marshal for an assault against the Black Spire. The Desert King wishes to return Nocturnus to its rightful rulers. Those lords in open rebellion against his high authority will be dealt with swiftly, but those in rebellion that wish to come to their senses and join the great crusade, will receive his forgiveness. The Desert King remembers his supporters, but has his enemy's names etched into his eternal mind. So it has been determined, on this 40th day of the second year of the Desert King's New Kingdom. Contest: Those in favor, show your colors for the Desert King -- Send your warriors, or depict your warriors (it does not have to be your sigfig) to Sultan's Gate to join the Nocturnus Crusade. Those opposed -- stop those DK-loving jerks! Set an ambush for the warrior-pilgrims heading to Sultan's Gate. Limitations: 32x32 with limited overhang Must depict a band of soldiers, either on their way to Sultan's Gate / showing up in Sultan's Gate or being ambushed on the way there. If you ambush in the desert, and have no structures the size limitation is lifted (the endless desert!) This contest should not be just figbarf, entries will be judged on minifig posing, background, foreground, setup, design and story. Prizes: The winner of each category will be allowed to style themselves as: "Great Pilgrim of the Desert King" "Great Confuser of the Desert King" Edited May 30, 2016 by BrickCurve Quote

TheUtilityBelt Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 Alright! I just remembered that my sigfig is in Mitgardia for a family reunion of sorts. I'll start building there later today, and I might work on that challenge. Quote
gedren_y Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 That challenge is long over (March 31). There's supposed to be some deadly pumpkin pie minichallenge in Nocturnus soon. Then the continuation of the Nocturnus Civil War. I've been building for BOBS recently, but should get my final Quest for the Egg build started soon. Quote
