I think I got pretty much burned out by Challenge D. I am going to focus on Andromeda's Gate for now (Kawashita of course!) because I can go back to smaller builds with it and challenge myself with new styles and techniques.

I got pretty much got so burned out just trying to read all the posts that my inspiration dried up. I got to the point where, I was so uninspired I just stopped looking. I have concluded that less is more. While I won't deny that there were a great many interesting builds, I think the sheer number of builds reduced their appeal. You get a hundred "awesome" castles, they just don't seem so awesome any more. The bar has been raised so high in the "Historical" build category, that it has just about come to the point where you must have access to either a LUG or Pick a Brick wall as well as being completely organized to build something that even is partially inspiring.

While I still have some uncompleted builds for GoH, I will probably be taking a break for a while as I build for AG.

If I may say so though, AG is almost if not quite as busy as we were during the C category. In fact, one Monday I had literally four pages of new comments (and at least half of them were builds I hadn't seen before, even though I was on the previous Saturday!). At the height of the category, GoH never had more than three pages!

I still routinely mark the whole AG forum as read.

Anyway, I know what you're talking about. Though do still hope to keep building for GoH actively, if I can find time between my weekly AG builds at least!

But I don't think I want to see any of my counter builds every again.

After the debacle that was the resistance against the Desert King , even though he was not directly involved in the war, Masa has formally withdrawn from politics and has taken up the trade of monster hunter. While he harbors a strong dislike for the Desert King, he realizes that it is futile and quite boring for him to fight wave after wave of zombies... So he now travels the lands seeking to help any village or hamlet that is plagued by monsters.

Sounds very Van Helsing-esque, Mike. I look forward to seeing that idea develop into MOCs!

Thanks! I have a build halfway finished. Need to get inspired to finish the landscape.

Looking forward to the upcoming builds and stories I'm reading into this announcement

Since the end of the war, the occupying forces in the Nestlands have retreated. The Clans have pledged to support those who continue the resistance, but are not actively engaging Desert King forces. While the Horus worshiping Mountain Mummies still refute the Desert King's claim of the title of Pharaoh, they too are not actively combating his forces.

The major concern of most of the Nestlands Clans is the return to production and trade. There is a hopeful feeling at the moment, with Sdair's quest underway, and two Ambassadors soon to take up residence in their respective Embassies. Many feel that the Armored Eagle Goddess will be reborn to flesh soon, and preparations are being made in the temples. One priest has begun reciting the Book of Confusion in the original Green Elvish, one passage every waking hour. When he finishes, he plans to start over, and keep doing so until Sdair's return.

There are a lot of wise qoutes in the Book of Confusion. Looking forward to the MOCs this announces

I assume the name Sdair has nothing to do with my own name?

That said, I would like to do a crossover next month, if you are up to it.

Sdair is a derivation of Alisdair. My tablet keeps correcting it to Adair. The Nestlands Clans mostly still speak a Celtic type language, and tend to speak the modern tongue with a hillbilly accent. Characters that had traveled as secret traders, before they announced themselves, speak without an accent for the most part. Aturl Prndrn and Neord Bloodmane have the least of accents. Sdair's accent is very heavy.

Sdair's quest will still take quite some time, mostly because so much of the needed parts are in an unfinished embassy build. The next Quest for the Egg build will be set at the wraith elf's (formerly a drow) home in an old quarry. I plan to mention a stay in your community, Adair.

There are a host of other Nestlands characters you can use, or make your own. I have been waiting for someone to try. Writing the accent is difficult, but I found it fun to see the drawl and twang typed. Adair, I'll PM you the background info, characters and their current locations, so we can begin crafting a narrative to build. This should be fun.

Great! I was hoping to use Aturl Prndrn ( I already have a MOC photographed showing him, or as close as I could get to him). Is that ok with you?

Has anyone tried the Altbricks custom leaves? (http://www.altbricks...y/trees-leaves/) I am considering them for my next Moc.

Edit: I got a website! https://brickcurve.wordpress.com

I have, and while the quality is good, and they look good, they are rather hard to integrate into normal Lego landscapes, because of their non-Lego coloring. If that doesn't bother you, then go ahead! Otherwise, think about it a while.

As the Minister of External Affairs, his appeance at meetings or social gatherings outside the Nestlands is quite alright. As long as he has the long black hair and the Jack Sparrow face, the depiction should be fine. So many forget to give their figures more outfits. Aturl Prndrn (props if you can figure out his name derivation) has quite a wardrobe. He favors blues, but anything fancy will do. If you have a trans-blue 1x1 round tile you can have him using the speaking stone. He makes regular reports to the High Ministry.

I will compile a summary on the Nestlands and get it to you soon.

I am also hoping to get back to the Lost Vega Casino LDD build. I don't think I will be able to do a full interior, though. The file size is already near the crashing limits. I will be keeping the two swimming pools, with their optical effects, in place. Lots of statuary, too. I'll have to figure out a way to fit the story of the opening into the current political reality.

Oh... I used Lego Bard the Bowman's head for him... does this work?

If not, I guess I can fit this build in some-where else. :classic:

It is close enough. Rough travel can have him unkempt. Also images could be artist's rendering, which can incur a measure of inaccuracy. Gideon's depiction gave him dark brown hair.

Great! So I'll probably be posting this build some time next month, probably later next month. Thanks for your cooperation and assistance!

The Nestlands Embassy in Nocturnus is finished! Photography is going to be a problem, though. Currently it is too bright outside for pics, and at 64x64, my usual set-up for pics may not work. I'll find a way. Hopefully I will have a thread up by this weekend.

Great, I look forward seeing it! :classic: Generally too much light generally isn't a problem for a camera, you should be able to change the aperture settings to cope, unless it's a cameraphone of course!

Just finished a Nestlands vig. Hopefully I will get to photograph it tomorrow, along with some fig pics for the Embassy characters. I started dismantling the Embassy for parts, but I also have a second part to the Lord Vladivus' visit story. This one will be an interior, and shouldn't take very long.

Hey guys, it's been quite a while since I've posted here and I'd definitely like to be integrated back here soon with a new character (or set of characters) and a new story to begin with. I've spent most of my time in the Heroica section which has also given me some inspiration.

Also, I'm once again making a list of things to get and I'm set on basic things to get, which are mainly studs and bricks to build various structures and what not. As for minifigs, I'm going to keep it simple and get mostly things for Dwarves. That leads me to this question - Which minifig from the Battle of the Five Armies sets would go better from some Dwarf guards/soldiers? I'm thinking that the Kili minifigures would go pretty good but I like the style of the Fili and Balin minifigures too but I can't buy multiples of each because they are pricey. :hmpf_bad:
